I have to say, I really miss this place. As someone who doesn’t like sushi much, this place was the only place I could go to with my sushi-eating friends and still enjoy a great meal. I have yet to see anything to replace it in terms of food and atmosphere.

This place is a revolving sushi restaurant and has more dynamite rolls than legit raw sushi. They still have the salmon nigiri which I always love. Uci students get a discount of $ 2 per plate! It used to get crowded during dinner time but I guess they lost business and closed The one thing I love about this restaurant was their takuyaki which is pretty decent but it’s just hard to find takuyaki these days

My experience here was not too shabby at all. There were a lot to choose from, the waitstaff and chefs were available, accomodating, and friendly. We were lucky enough to be seated next to a Father and Son that were«regulars» there, who hooked us up with a discount so that all out plates were only $ 2! I hear that’s also the current student discount if you have your school ID. All in all, I left with a very good impression of the place and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. I’m surprised they didn’t have a long wait on the Friday night we went!

There’s too many conveyor sushi belt restaurants in Irvine to make this place worth coming to again. All the sushi tasted… different, especially the eel. I did not like any of ones I had and my sushi choices are pretty standard: salmon, salmon belly, yellowtail, halibut, eel. I tried the squid here and WOW, that is some pretty acquired taste. Even with their $ 10 for 5 plates during lunch, it wasn’t worth it.

Affordable sushi for UCI students since you get a discount if you go there. Just be sure to whip out your ID when you are having your bill tallied up and such. The quality is pretty decent. I have to say, I’ve been to better places but for a very decently priced sushi restaurant, it’s pretty good. A lot of different variations on the names of the sushi dishes and just. wow. Most of the time though, if you see something, you should just grab it ASAP ’cause it’ll take a while for it to go around again and you’re not sure if anyone is going to snatch it up. I waited a bit for some of the hot items to come around again… There is usually a small wait since it does get packed at dinner time but overall it isn’t too long of a wait. ^_^

I’ve eaten here a few times but only because they mail the $ 2/plate coupon. If I didn’t use the coupon, I don’t think the food would be worth the price. But since it is a revolving sushi place, when the place is packed there isn’t a lot of sushi in the revolving belt. However, you can always ask one of the sushi chefs to make you a plate of sushi you want if you don’t see it revolving around. The last time I was here, we ended up having to wait 30 minutes since the host accidentally skipped calling our names. When we were seated, our server told us that the manager is offering us a free dessert because of the wait. It was very nice of them. As for the food, I am sometimes hesitant to get the sushi that has looked like it’s been on the revolving belt for some time. But I haven’t gotten sick yet so maybe they keep a closer eye on the sushi that I thought. For the dessert, we got the vanilla tempura ice cream which is so yummy. If you go to this place, get the tempura ice cream. If you’re looking for some quality sushi, I wouldn’t recommend this place. This is the kind of place you go to for some cheap sushi.

–If you’re a UCI student, the lunch special applies all day! –Lunch special is $ 10 for 5 plates. Essentially it’s pretty much $ 2 per plate. –Red plates are the most expensive, so take advantage of the lunch special! I definitely recommend: Little Miss Sunshine: they bake it for you and add lemon slices to add some zest Uni: sea urchin for $ 2 during happy hour? Yes please! Salmon belly: oh-em-gee. It’s like heaven on your tongue. Remember: Don’t be shy. If you see something on the conveyor belt and it’s not there, just be assertive and ask. They’re nice about it. My bf and I ordered about 6 plates of salmon belly with NOSHAME. Your tummy is happy and their business increases. All is good.

This place is A-Ok. It’s not ace, but it’ll do. They have this lunch special where your first 5 plates can be any color, and they’ll only cost $ 10. This sounds enticing, but there’s a few flaws. How do they keep tabs of what your first 5 plates in the first place? The majority of expensive plates were m.i.a. which means you have to order them to be made for you. This hiccup causes you to wait longer, thus wasting your precious lunch special minutes(which is a small window of a few hours). The portions vary on which sushi chef makes the item. Some rolls are 2 pieces, while others are 4+. The amount of fish also varies. This place works well for a cheap fix before an actual meal. Otherwise it’s somewhat a rip-off. The service is great however. The young server/cashier is sweet and does his best to make sure you’re set.

One reason why I gave 1 star: I GOTHORRIBLEFOODPOISONING! While I was eating I started to feel nauseus and had to throw up in the bathroom, and then at barnes, and then on the way home, and finally at home all night. This place made me NOT want sushi for almost a year! BOOYOUHORRIBLEEVILPLACEBLEH

Continiung in my effort to try the places I have bookmarked this weekend, I made it to Sushilicious after church today. According to Unilocal, they open at 12:30 and I got there at 12:37 and there was a group of people already waiting. Getting out of the car and walking towards the restaurant, I said to myself — if the wait is longer than 20 – 30 minutes, I’m outta here! However, it wasn’t. I must have waited a total of 5 minutes. I’m still not sure why but I’m not complaining as the last time I came, I left after I was told the wait was at least an hour. Seated at what I considered the bar as there are booths too. Jumped right in. OK but inconsistent is what comes to mind when trying to describe this place. For example, I did have two servings of Tuna. My first plate, the cuts were generous, nice and full of both color and flavor. The second plate, wasn’t the same. Size, cut or flavor. Other dishes were OK to good and for $ 2 a plate, it’s not bad. Service wasn’t bad considering all that was needed were refills and the presenting of the bill. Restaurant itself is clean and plays upbeat music. Would I come back? Yes, IF there’s NOT a long wait as it’s not that good.

Get your Nom on over here at Sushilicious! If there are two things in the world I’m a sucker for(besides good eats), its color coded things, and a fun ambiance. Sushilicious achieved both! I love that the menu states pricing by color on the pedestal(and matching plate) of whats revolving around the restaurant. You know well in advance that when you see a blue plate rolling at you, its gonna be $ 2.75. The rolls are tasty, notably their«Baked garlic shrimp aoili». The«Rolls formerly known as California» were fresh and flavorful! We loved the Baked Muscles that came out piping hot and full of savory goodness. We also pulled assorted sushi off the belt and everything was yummy. We sampled the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box’s too. They stuff a whole lot of goodness in the form of tempura veggies, rice, chicken and salad into that box. You get a ton of food for $ 7.99! Fun, ‘new stuff you hear on the radio’ music was playing while you enjoy watching the sushi chef’s whip up your favorite plates and set them on the conveyor belt. The décor is cool on the eyes… whites, greens, browns. Service was nice and friendly. We’ll be back for sure!

My first visit was to Europe’s longest conveyor belt at Yo! Sushi in London. This place tries to add some clean retro graphics and colors to the idea, but it could come across as a bit soul-less, rather than Barbarella futuristic chic. Prices are from $ 1.50 — $ 4 a plate. It was ok, fairly fresh, but we had to wait for some of the selections we wanted to come by. I think you can order something if you don’t see what you want.

Dear Sushilicious, I will formally apologize to you guys about my first review because I am now impressed with the recent changes you have made to this establishment. First of all, you’ve offered $ 2 per plate discounts to students that go to school around the area, and you’ve also let regular folks join in on the fun with $ 2 per plate coupons as well. Next, your sushi has definitely improved. There was not one plate that didn’t make me «mmm» in utter pleasure. Everything was so very good and fresh. The two things I would like to see from this restaruant are: 1) More discounts for the common folk! I will no longer be attending school in the area, which means that I won’t be able to get $ 2 per plate sushi any longer :(and 2) More special sushi during lunch! It took such a long time to finally get my paws on some ama ebi(sweet shrimp)! Nevertheless, Sushilicious has definitely improved from the last time I ate there. Great job!

I still love the random reviewers like Ruby and Chris that do not even read the other reviews that basically answer their problems. Heed warning: If you know sushi, check out the reviews and then go into the restaurant! Then you would know that they will custom make anything you want. Then you will know they actually have a timer on the belt and remove plates that linger too long. On top of the 5 plate for $ 10 lunch special, there is now a UCI student special, which I believe will trump the disgusting Kula trend: $ 2 plates! All day, everyday! There is no catch and no limit. What excuse do you have, to those who complained about the price? Go eat! Be free from the frozen fish and the parking hell that is Kula! Enjoy it!

Everyone who works here is really friendly! They ask you multiple times whether you’re doing okay or if they can get anything for you. Awesome customer service. The sushi was pretty good. The majority of the plates on the revolving belt didn’t have any food on them though. Also, the descriptions about the plates are in a small font and can be a little hard to read if you’re not sitting right in front of the belt. Oh well, at least the place looks cute! If bright and pretty colors make you happy… this is the place to go! The sushi names are pretty creative too! FOOD: Little Miss Sunshine: Baked and has lemon slices. I didn’t try it but my roommates did! They REALLY liked this one and would get it again. It looked pretty too. Napoleon Dynamite: Spicy flavor is a bit much and overpowers the taste of the red snapper. Bottomless Vegetable Tempura: Gave a variety of vegetables — asparagus, broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and more. Batter wasn’t too thick or greasy. Spicy Tuna Crunchy Hand Roll: Yummy! $ 2.25 Thursday Special! Absolut: Shrimp tempura, crab, and other stuff. It was good! Make sure to MENTIONYOUFOUNDTHEMON Unilocal because you GET A DISCOUNT!!!

I’ve been back several times now since my last update and I must say things have greatly improved! The rice/fish ratio is now very proportioned — for me that is – and they are offering sashimi as an alternative for people like me who prefer sashimi over eating too much rice. They have also come up with more varieties of rolls and some new«sashimi» items such as the Italian Stallion — hamachi slices(I think it was hamachi) with a garlic oil infusion served with some radish sprouts — is very very good. My favorites are still the salmon nigiri, crispy rice topped with spicy tuna, hamachi, but my ultimate favorite has gotta be the salmon skin hand roll! Those are to die for! Tell the sushi chef and he’ll make one for you… or in my case, two! On Tuesdays they have started Kids Eat Free Tuesdays which also includes a crafts table where the kids can migrate to once they’ve finished eating so you can eat in peace. The rest of the week, there are featured hand rolls on different days including: unagi, soft shelled crab, spicy tuna etc. Lunch time specials now include 5 plates of your choice for $ 10. All I can say is, I’m liking it again especially when I can just tell the sushi chef what I want and he’ll be happy to custom make something for me!

I came here for lunch the other day and was very disappointed. While I am generally not a fan of these types of places(see my review of Kula), this place is downright dysfunctional — all bells and whistles but no substance. For starters, there was practically NOSUSHI on the conveyer belt. For every one plate of fish, there were about a dozen empty ones. Now I don’t know about you, but that kind of takes the fun(as well as the choice) out of eating here. I mean, what’s the point of a conveyer belt when you have to directly order half your meal? Out of hunger and desperation, I reached for an Avocado Roll, only because there was nothing else going by. This turned out to be a mistake, for not only were the avocado bits very small but they had also already turned brown. After watching the same California Roll going around and around, I was happy to see some Salmon Nigiri come our way. While it looked really attractive, it was rather bland and a little stiff. To me, good salmon should practically melt in my mouth, but I found myself chewing on it a little longer than I wanted. While watching more empty plates roll by, I was intrigued by one called Sushicalifragilisticexpialidocious, which is a ridiculously stupid name for a ridiculously stupid piece of sushi. For if you thought pronouncing it was hard enough, try eating it, which is impossible unless you have a mouth the size of an ogre. Basically, it’s a spicy tuna roll topped with a piece of tempura shrimp. But even when I disassembled it to eat it, the amount of rice in the roll itself made it virtually impossible to even taste the tuna, much less even chew. Of the seven plates we ate — this after waiting for about an hour for some food to roll by – we had to order three of them directly from the waitress or chef. However, because their faulty system does not reconcile plates with ordered items, we ended up getting double-charged for those three dishes. We also got double-charged for tea($ 2.25 a person) when only one of us ordered it. I hope Sushilicious can get their act together, but until it does, you won’t see me around here anytime soon.
