For the food alone, all in all I give it 3.5 stars. I had to lower my rating due to the horrible service. It was horribly bad even for an Asian establishment. I feel like if you aren’t Chinese and don’t speak it, then you won’t get good service. They will NOT come and take your order unless you literally grab someone as they pass by your table. They will never ever check on you. And everyone’s English is terrible along with their English comprehension skills. We ordered several dishes, got it repeated back to us then ended up missing a dish. When asked if it was still coming out, we were told it was forgotten about and not even asked if we would still like it. It’s almost like they don’t care for our business. I was really appalled because I came in for a late lunch on a Friday and there were only maybe 5 other groups there dining. On staff I could see at least 6 people serving. Most of them were sitting in the back corner by the tv just chilling and chatting. Food: This time I ordered the BBQ plate which had the pig belly and bbq pork. Both were dry and chewy. No taste at all! Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Chicken was decent. The Walnut Shrimp was still on point and the best dish I’ve had here thus far. Side note: I ordered a honey iced tea and it came in a cute glass boot. I noticed that the glass was majorly chipped which is a HUGENONO in the dining business. Someone could cut themselves on their hand or mouth. I used to be a waitress and we would immediately chuck anything that was chipped or had a crack.

No doubt food here hits as many nostalgic heartstrings a boy living away from home can ask for. However, I have to give it two stars as service was really under par for my fiancé, sister and I that day. He did not have good understanding of the menu and seemed very uninterested/tired of working there(as I hope everything is well for him). Although food is decently well at a restaurant, I do believe that service, or any other areas, should not compromise. I hope that management and team members would take this constructively as I would hate to not enjoy my time at Tasty anymore due to service.

FYI: Since this place is in an Irvine location, everything is overpriced. :/ Service: I would say the waiters here are very attentive. My group and I never had to ask for water refills! They always made sure our glass was filled with water. They also served the food we ordered very fast. Didn’t even have to wait 15 minutes and all the dishes we ordered came out! Food:(I apologize for not knowing the exact names for the dishes) Hai Nan Chicken The portion was really small for something so expensive. Yeah its good… tastes like what it should taste like: salty. Tofu/mushrooms Really loved this dish because the shitake mushrooms were super juicy. Loved the gravy sauce too. Very flavorful! Seafood noodles(fat/flat noodles) Another dish that I loved! The shrimp was juicy and not dry. The sauce over this noodle dish was delicious as well. Loved the flavor ! Seafood vermicelli dish Not a fan. The flavor was pretty basic and just tasted bad compared to the other foods we ordered. PUFFLE! so yummers! Althought we ate it cold, the puffle was still fluffy and full of delicious flavor! I think it had a really unique taste to it too. Expensive, but I will definitely order this again :)

I came here for a Togo order and ordered a orange chicken, and beef chow mien. Omg it was SOOO good. I love how they close at midnight. It helps with my Chinese food cravings when I get off late at work. Orange chicken was light and crispy with a silky sauce! The chow mien was okay. The noodles were very hard and stringy, and I prefer thicker chow mien noodles. I’ll definitely be back!

Been here a few times now and I’ve always had a great time. For better value go for lunch. Menu is slightly more affordable plus you can actually see the city beneath. Food is excellent(new items excellently made). Service is almost perfect every time(respectful and not pretentious). Décor is comfortable and reasonably stylish.

Ordered 3 items for pick up and they messed up 1 order. I got the salt & pepper wings, steamed chicken and seafood hot pot. Instead of the seafood hot pot, they gave me chicken hot pot, but charged me for the seafood hot pot. I called Tasty Garden and they told me to stop by to pick up the seafood. Brought back the chicken hot pot with my receipt to show that they packed the wrong order. They took back the chicken and gave me the seafood hot pot along with complimentary egg puff. I don’t get it. Shouldn’t they have just given me the chicken hot pot? Why would they take it back only to dump it or who knows what they do with it. I am baffled. Horrible customer service!

The service was well, and the food came out pretty quickly. The Hong Kong milk tea tasted. average. I love tea, don’t get me wrong. And I love it when you can actually TASTE the tea in a milk TEA, but it’s still. off. I don’t know how to put it. It was average. It wasn’t bad, though. But it was a different taste. Unlimited refills though! Me and my folks ate«family style.» The Beef Chow Fun was quite delicious but never enough. I recommend it though! The filet mignon was SO juicy and tender. And, again, it’s never enough. The fried fish filet thing was average, and the 3 entrée pork platter was decent but not the best. Complimentary white rice when you order entrees, but when we asked for more, he took our bowl and never came back. Oh well.

I came here on New Years for dinner because all the ramen places that I tried to go to were closed. My Cantonese uncles, they never close. It’s Irvine Cantonese food. What more can I say? If this location was in the San Gabriel Valley, it would only get one star. How this location gets more stars than the Monterey Park location is a mystery to me. The food is better tasting in Monterey Park. The food is Irvine priced… more expensive than it is in the San Gabriel Valley. We ordered a curry beef with pasta, their seafood fried rice and their stir fried seafood rice noodles. The curry beef had no flavor. It was spicy, but, other than being on the Scoville Scale, the beef had no flavor. The seafood fried rice was ruined by bell peppers. Bell pepper is #8 on a list of food that causes flatulence. Who puts bell peppers in fried rice? The stir fried seafood rice noodle dish was greasy and tasteless. The food was not daughter approved. She didn’t like any of the foods we ordered. Yeah, they were open on New Years Day and were able to feed me. But, the food was not good. In my original review, I ended the review by saying I would be back with my co-workers. I never did come back with my co-workers. I don’t think I am ever coming back for this greasy, tasteless and expensive food. I’d rather go to Denny’s.

Star rating: 3.5 A HK café that serves lots of different dishes from western entrees(i.e. Club sandwich) to your traditional Chinese congee with century egg. I love that you can order these various dishes in one place(says the piggy in me)! =P Service: just ok. The past 3 – 4 times that I’ve been here they either run out of a dish and don’t tell you until most of your party finishes eating or forgets it all together. The servers are always running around like busy bees. It’s hard to get their attention so wave them down fast when you need something! Price: it’s pretty pricey for a café or Chinese restaurant but the portion is relatively large. Two entrees and a milk tea cost about $ 27 before tip. Tip: HK milk tea has free refills! Totally worth it!

The food sanitation is to be desired here. I got FOODPOISONINGFROMEATINGHERE. we ordered congee, fried fish, lotus octopus soup, stir fried mushroom and Singaporean noodle. I had a light lunch of fruit and chicken soup 6 hours prior. Had dinner here and immediately after dinner, I vomited FOURTIMES. I suspect that the BBQ meat in the Singaporean noodle might be the culprit. Thinking back, it did look a bit dried and old. The have NO standards for food health and safety and should be closed down.

Perfect when I’m craving HK family style food! I usually come earlier for dinner to avoid long waits. They staff aren’t particularly friendly but they’re efficient– typical of most asian restaurants My favorites include the xo sauce stir fried beef udon, chicken steak, stir fried green beans, and the HK style waffle. Foods oily– just as it should be This location is slightly more expensive than the 626 ones but it makes sense since its irvine Add a little bit of chili sauce to anything and it’s 10x better ^_^

This was hubby’s quirky request for his birthday dinner. SO… the 12 of us schlepped it to Tasty Garden and packed ourselves into a corner table, cobbled together from a combo of 4 tops and 2 tops. Being that we had three pregnant woman in their 3rd trimester(not me), the this was a grim prospect. But I had two of them sit in the outside chairs while the one svelte mama shimmied to the end of the table. It all worked out. Ok, so having been here plenty of times and experiencing various levels of service(3 to 3.5 stars), I have to say this time REALLY impressed me. We didn’t say it was for a birthday or anything. There was no «Happy birthday, Mike!» choruses going around. But somehow, Tasty Garden stepped it up! Service was on point and so was the food. Drinks were getting refilled and attitudes were fantastic. Our main server was super nice… too bad I didn’t get his name but he was shorter and wore glasses. He was the man of the hour, offering refills in a timely fashion, etc. Food was great in general. We ordered what we were familiar with and didn’t disappoint(XO Sauce Beef Udon, wonton soup, water spinach, green beans, duck, chicken steak, salt/pepper pork chops, etc.) They gifted us at the end with a couple of their HK waffles and they were delicious. Thanks to them, hubby really enjoyed his bday dinner. For this reason, FOUR stars!

This place was so goddamn good. I’ve never really been a Chinese type of dude, but recently I’ve been getting into some pretty amazing Chinese food. This occasion was a rehearsal dinner so I got to try a bunch of different dishes. Here are some… Spread: About 98 Heineken(Standard when kickin’ it with Viets) Egg & Shrimp — It was like a giant scramble but very very tasty. Shaken Beef — Brilliant! Super tender, juicy, and super tasty! Fried Rice — I think it had some crab and shrimp. Delicious. Steamed Duck — By far my favorite dish. So good. Bejing Pork Chop — This was my second favorite. It’s not a pork chop, it’s more like bits of chopped pork. I strongly recommend this place. Next time I’m in OC, I’ll be back!

Came here and met up with some High School class mates who i haven’t seen in many many years. We got here just before 6 on a Saturday, it was quite busy but we got in after a few minutes. I think we were lucky because right after that it seemed like there was a long wait. By chance we ran into another classmate who waited for over 45 minutes to be sat. Im told you have to get there before 6 or 7 or there is a 45 minute wait. We ordered Peking beef, salt and pepper pork chops, beef chow fun with roasted garlic, sweet and sour fish(sauce on the side) and on choy. It was way too much food for 4 people, but it was all delicious so I’m glad we did and my friend got to take home some some awesome leftovers for lunch. The salt and pepper pork chops and peking beef were both good. Salt and pepper pork chops is something i order all the time this one was good but not the best i’ve ever had, but worth getting if you’re here. My friend who visits this place often ordered the sweet and sour fish, with the sauce on the side. I thought that was a great idea, because if you take too long to eat it it gets all soggy, this way you put a bit of sauce over your piece of fish when you are ready to eat it. Personally I’m not too much of a fan of sweet and sour, but this one was good it wasn’t overly sour or sweet, more of a subtle taste, which I liked. or maybe it was that it was not swimming in sauce and i could control it by adding just a little sauce. Either way this was a great idea to order it with the sauce separate. We also ordered the on choy(i think with garlic) it was very tasty, I usually order choy sum, this was a welcome change and something i think I’ll start cooking at home by myself. I was very surprised how good it was. I really enjoyed myself here. The restaurant was clean and modern, the food was very tasty, portions were good and the service was great, water was refilled multiple times during the meal. I’d definitely make my way back here again if i found myself in the area or was passing through. Tip: Although it is not stated on the menu, the ice milk tea is refillable, you can even get one in a to go cup as you leave!

It’s a shame that this place has such poor service because the food quality is actually quite tasty and at a reasonable price. It took about 10 minutes before we were able to get anyone’s attention. Then once we ordered, 3 of 4 plates came out within 8 minutes. the last one didn’t come until we finished the other 3(after reminding them twice). By then we were debating cancelling the order. Not sure if I want to wait 45 minutes for the beef chow fun on my next visit. I was there with 3 other guys and the female waitresses didn’t even bother to respond to my requests, only to the guys. Open until midnight so we stayed until 11:30pm without any issues enjoying our free refills.

Highly recommend this place! It’s a Cantonese café with lots of comfort food. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, it was 1:30PM on the Sunday but still super busy. Great place for families The service was great we ordered our food and the chemo so fast! We also got milk tea $ 1.75 and it was unlimited refills! Awesome deal, and it comes in a cute boot– shape glass. For four people we ordered a lot: we order 1. 1. beef chow fun– so tasty! 2. French style filet mignon– peppery and tender 3. Hainan chicken– generous serving, very tasty with minced ginger sauce 4. Peking sweet and sour pork– sooo juicy and delicious 5. A cream sauce cod spaghetti– so so… I wouldn’t get it again 6. Dessert! $ 10.95 for eggette waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh fruit strawberries, kiwis and mango. Enough for 4 to share So good! Our server was so attentive kept coming back to give us more milk to your ice coffee refills! Def coming back

I love HK cafes and really enjoy the Tasty Gardens in Alhambra and even the one in Garden Grove. However, I dont think this location in Irvine is as tastier as the other ones. The restaurant itself is definitely nicer with a big fish tank and nice décor. Prices are higher but it’s expected for Irvine. I have gone on two separate nights and thought the rice was on the harder side, not as fresh and soft as it should be. *Sweet and sour pork chop was good *Beef noodles was ok *Fish filet with veggies was a bit bland *Congee is good and smooth *Chicken wings are very good Glad to have this café in the area but wish it tasted more like the other ones!

Came by for dinner the other night and it was definitely a decent experience after dining at Tasty Garden’s other locations in SGV. …this one in Irvine is definitely pricier… much pricier… The interior of the restaurant is bright and modern. Staff are dressed in black and wear a tie. Ordered the Beef Chow Fun with Crispy garlic and it was freshly prepared and had a nice kick to it. The meat quality was good. The bean curd ong choy came out as a huge portion, although rather pricey at ~$ 14.5 a dish. The french style filet mignon was decent, although I’ve had better in SGV. Portions were decent too. Staff was friendly and available when needed. ~$ 24/person after tax and tip for dinner.

+ Fast service + Plenty of seating(indoor and outdoor) + Free refills on specialty drinks! + Option of a bar for other drinks + Clean This is a somewhat regular spot for my gf’s family. They are Chinese food connoisseurs so if they recommend this place, then it must be good. I’ve been here a number of times and each time I leave satisfied. It is new and still very popular so there are always lots of people waiting to be seated. Even so, the wait is never that long with plenty of inside and outside seating. There is plenty of food choices that fit nearly all tastes. Great for couples to large 15+ parties. The employees are always happy to put tables together. The milk tea or lemon tea(that comes in a nifty boot glass) also has free refills! This typically isn’t the case for many Asian restaurants.

Tasty Garden Overall 4 Stars Gold medal — Cantonese café in OC Silver medal — Refillable ice tea or milk tea Bronze medal — Great food & selection I seriously felt like I was in a Canto Café in SGV. Just a fancier one. The décor was modern. What a great find if you are craving Cantonese Café food, but don’t want to drive all the way to San Gabriel Valley. Well… wala… look no further. They had refillable ice tea and milk tea. No different than they do it in SGV. Refill all you want. The tea is strong here, so just be careful of the caffeine. Great food and selection. Everything that I have tried here has been good. From the baked items, fried chicken wings, chicken chops, etc. What a wonderful selection. HAPPYCANTONESECAFEING!
