After tasting most of the Indian Food in DFW Area, i found that this place is the place to taste some real punjabi food. I have visited hundred of time now to this food place. Very very authentic and aromatic food. For Vegetarian– Pakoda Kadi, Palak paneer and Sarso Saag are the best options. For Non-Vegetarian– Everything else Most Importantly, the quality of buffet is not compromised as few other restaurant does(believe me). Cook, Owner and Server… everyone is awesome. 5⁄5

Serving Quantity is a bit less compared to similar restaurants in Irving. Biryani was too much oily. Chicken items were good to taste. What intrigued me was the staff bringing in the bill while I was still in the middle of the meal and also asking me to pay at that moment. Maybe, they were in a hurry to close.

We order take-outs from Dera Grill once every 2 weeks or so. We always go for Chicken Malai Kabab and Chicken Sheek Kabab. Their kababs are awesome, well seasoned and made in the tandoor. Their rotis and raita are good too. I would not recommend their buffet. But for take-outs, this restaurant is awesome.

Great grilled food in their buffet — Tue to Sundays. I just go there for that ! Can do a better job with the upkeep of the place — but the grilled food is so good that i overlook that !

Read all the review and was excited to visit this place. I have been to other 3 other restaurants — Texas king, Irving, Al Markaaz, Carrollton and Lal quila, Carrollton. I would say this one is the costliest and the worst. The buffet is priced $ 10 which is not worth it. It was all chicken — no beef, no mutton, no biriyani, no nihari. I was dissappointed. The entrance was through kitchen and there was bad smell. Inside it was ok

Dera Grill is a decent looking Pakistani restaurant that sits on the SouthWest corner of Walnut hill and Story. As you walk-in, you get an impression of a pick-up pizza place but there is a seating area on the right with buffet tables waiting for you as you enter. There is also other area on the left, probably used for private parties. The place is definitely old, you can see it on the roof and tables but somehow is functioning. The weekend lunch buffet felt little expensive at 12.99 especially I was just going to eat the Veggie items; so I opted for Palak paneer, substituting naan with rice. They do have about five items under Veggie lovers, so Vegetarians won’t feel left out. It took a while than I expected; later found out that they were out of Paneer and just got the fresh one from somewhere. This somehow resulted into a complimentary veggie fritters; it was a nice gesture and ultimately didn’t feel like I waited long. The complimentary salad which consisted of lettuce and cucumber was very basic that came with dressing, most likely a concoction of mint chutney and some sort of cream, that could be used as a dip for the bhajiyas too. The fritters were lukewarm, spicy and tasted good but was heavily coated with besan(gram flour) batter. The palak paneer came with huge serving, enough for two people. The paneer was nicely fried and were really tasty, arguably one of the best I’ve had in the area. The spinach felt a little undercooked and little more creamy than my liking. It went good with rice which was coated with butter and felt little hard. Overall, it was a OK meal, nothing bad but not excellent either as such if I go there, I would definitely not order the same item. However, you should go here for the various offerings of Kababs, it seems to be their forte. Their biryanis do sound enticing and is very reasonably priced: goat-8.99, chicken –6.99 and they claim it to be ‘dum’; so it should be good. The weekdays buffet is inexpensive at 8.99. If you are in the area, you should definitely give it a try. And lastly, kudos to the guy who was serving all alone; he was courteous and very attentive.

My fav spot in Big D for my curry fix. The kabob are excellent. I only do lunch buffet. Usually place is not very full. Service is slow but hey its a buffet. Easy parking its in a strip mall. Little funky to find but price is right, fast, and tasty.

My husband and I have been looking for a locally-owned place to patronize, and unfortunately Irving is awash in chains. I’d been driving past Dera Grill, and found good reviews here on Unilocal,so we figured we’d give it a try. What a pleasure! Good service, perfectly spiced kebabs, and yummy naan. The salad was simple but fresh and properly crispy — and the dressing, served on the side, was a spicy, delicious surprise. Don’t forget to add lassi to your meal — their serving is very generous, more so than other restaurants I’ve been to. My husband, who is not a very adventurous eater, loved his kebabs and enjoyed his first taste of naan and lassi. This is a hidden gem — go check it out! You won’t be disappointed. We’ll be regulars.

Went there for brunch with my wife on a Saturday. The food was excellent, a lot of meat choices. I was not too impressed with the service. We kept hearing a very loud woman yelling and screaming in the kitchen without any regards for customers. If it wasn’t for her I would give this place 5 stars. She could be the reason why this place was completely dead.

6 of us went for dinner, pretty hungry hungry. Unfortunately, we left also, pretty hungry. Perhaps that was the wrong day to go, but I doubt we’ll ever go back. We sat at three tables, each was wobbly, so we just gave up after our third attempt. The server was in a foul mood, with a standard«that’s not available today» response to everything we asked for, including, unbelievably, steamed rice. Who runs out of rice?

AMAZING! The owner is very sincere and the food is great! Servings are a little on the small side but we ended up not having any leftovers while also fully satiated. I recommend the Chana Masala and the Chili Chicken Masala. The naan is perfect! Not too heavy or doughy, but not paper thin. Definitely worth coming back to for another meal!

I went in on a whim. That’s the beauty of working from home. I had a simple kebab(oops of course I can’t remember its name). Beef, began with a B, cost $ 10.99. That included nice tasting naan and raita. Flavorful food, very tender and well prepared meat. The place is quiet, and not very imaginatively laid out. The wait staff were maybe a little over enthusiastic, clearing a bit quickly. But all in all competent. Does accept credit cards — but not American Express

An Indian friend of mine recommended Dera Grill. The selling point? Tandoori cuisine, while served throughout India, is a regional specialty(e.g., Tex-Mex in Texas vs. US in general). My friend said this is the best Tandoori food she’s had outside of that region. I was sold! I bundled a bunch of people into a car and was off. The verdict? Lives up to the hype. Now, I have never been to India, but that was some damn-good tandoori food. Our dining party ordered the Chicken Kerara and the Chicken Boti(not the exact name but close). The Kerara was a spicy blackened orange delight. This is your classic tandoori dish. The meat is bone-on, so you have to work for your dinner. The chicken is honestly too spicy for me to make a meal of, but I’m kind of a wuss. The Boti was boneless, yet very satisfying. It was a cleaner meal that involved less work and is milder. I really enjoyed this with hot beautiful naan and this green yogurt sauce. Others have complained about the service, but I found it fine. The water carafe’s at the table prevented any service problems. The only thing that was a little weird, was the open kitchen in the front. The work staff was blasting hardcore gangsta rap for the majority of our meal. It didn’t bother me much, but it made for a bizarre ambiance. For me, it is all about the food. I cannot wait to go back. I’m sold!

The traditional-style tandoori kebabs are really the star at Dera Grill. The meat is perfectly spiced and heavenly. I had the chicken karara, which was a pretty spicy chicken kabob served with salad and choice of naan or rice. Rice is a bad decision get the naan. The rice is just steamed unseasoned basmati rice, and the naan is pretty darn good. The chicken on this dish is bone-in and a little hard to eat, but it tastes fantastic. It was slightly less spicy than the typical vindaloo. There are boneless options available if you value convenience over flavor. The other reviews complain about the service but we really had very good service. Water pitchers are placed on your table and you refill yourself.

The kababs are so good I had to go back but ordered take out instead. Ordered The Chicken Karara Kabab and Seekh Kabab for a small gathering at home. Also ordered naan. I called the order in one day in advance but when I called to confirm before pick up, no one knew where the order was. It caused some anxiety before the owner could be reached and all was sorted out. Upon reaching Dera Grill I was pleasantly surprised to see many more people serving and in the kitchen. Although the work flow still seemed a little raw, I think they are making changes in the right direction. The kabobs were awesome as usual. Portions were generous. I used the leftover kararas in a currry and it turned out finger lickin good! Adding another Star here. Will go back to dine in and give updated feedback soon.
