I never ever thought I would say this… but…I trust my mechanic at Hondura. I don’t know why I haven’t written a Unilocal review sooner. When I moved back to Dallas in 2000 my most distrusting friend recommended them and assured me they would get the work done inexpensively. Our friendship didn’t last but my relationship with Hondura is still strong. I was skeptical because the car repair business is so shady and if you aren’t a car guy you just become their prey. Not at this place. 4 cars later I won’t take my vehicle anywhere else to be repaired. Within the first 5 years I would ask Paul (the owner) can you give me a better price. He would say don’t do the work today. Take it and get another estimate and then see if you want it done here. Never once did someone beat his price. Many times I will take it somewhere closer to my house to see what they say is wrong and then take it to Hondura and Paul will say that is not what is wrong with this car. You need X, Y, Z to fix this issue or better yet he says there is nothing really wrong you just needed a fuse. I put the fuse in go home, no charge! What? That is no lie. No Charge sometimes. I tell everyone I know about this place and that is what prompted me to write this review today. I just recommended someone else to go there to get a repair estimate checked to make sure they are getting a fair price. This place is so good customers take pics and put them on the wall. I may be one of the most skeptical people I know and I can honestly say I trust Hondura more than I trust most of my friends. The staff is kind, considerate, and competent. Just one more war story. In 2006 I was at work in Arlington and David drove me back to my job and dropped my car off back at my job because my boss was inflexible about me leaving. This place is one in a million. And yes I took my picture and put it on the wall! If you like good Thai food check out the Nalihn Market across the street while you wait for your car!

Tried this place for the first time due to their good reviews only to get ripped off and then had parts missing! The car’s motor was shaking and I went in to get it serviced, I was told the issue was either a spark plug or coil and each individual one would need to be replaced to find the ONE with issues. Car was in pretty bad shape so I didn’t have a choice but to move forward with 1 spark plug and 1 coiled changed. After I had 1 spark plug and 1 coil changed and being charged $ 375, there was absolutely no difference. They recommended to change the remaining 5 coils and spark plugs! Even then, they were not «sure» this would solve the issue and said it could be a fuel injector.
Fed up with their service, I went to another shop (Angel’s Garage) who actually took the time to check each individual coil & spark plug without charging and found no issues with them. They diagnosed the car with the need for a fuel injector. I also had them check the heater because it had stopped working since taking it to Hondura, only to find out the THERMOSTAT WAS MISSING! I do not recommend going to these guys only because they have a few positive reviews, obtain a quote and get a second opinion — I had the issue diagnosed FREE OF CHARGE AND FIXED FOR ¹⁄₃ OF THE PRICE. I will never step into this shop again and do not recommend anyone doing so, you obtain customers by fixing problems not charging them an arm and a leg to «probably» fix the issue.

When trying to get a quote on an oil change this company never answers their phone. Not good customer service when you don’t answer a customer’s phone call or question.

Took my car here for an inspection. It was during lunch hours but I didn’t have to wait long. The mechanics seems responsible and gave me useful information and honest opinions.

had couple o2 sensors replaced by paul’s team at hondura … worked for couple weeks and then not so well.
couple months later, thought i’d allow them to change my timing-​belt, instead of honda-​dealer. big mistake … the following morning my car (honda civic) was overheating to the max. the owner was overseas in thailand … and their head mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong.
upon paul’s return, i brought in my car and explained the issue. he looked my car over … and suggested i replace the coolant reservoir? he also refused for his shop to take responsibility for my car overheating.
and this shop supposedly specializes in honda?
chalk another one up.

Paul is the best. I’ve been using these guys for years. They are very honest and affordable. I wish there were more auto shops like this.

My daughter goes to college in Irving (I live in California), and I’m so thankful to have found this shop on Unilocal.She has taken her Toyota in on several occasions for regular maintenance, a brake job and other miscellaneous work. Each time she has been able to walk in at her convenience, without an appointment, and have the work completed in a timely and quality way, for an affordable price. Car problems are never fun especially if it involves a tow. Luckily my brother in law found this place for me online and the reason we chose this one is because I was suspecting transmission issues so I wanted a place that specialized in Acuras and rebuilds just in case it was the route I would have to go. Luckily, I didn’t. Paul was very friendly, and professional in all our interactions. He took the time to listen to my concerns and he always kept in contact with me regarding what issues he found and not found. He was very straightforward and honest with me. Most places take advantage of having a female in the shop and will upsell services etc. This was not the case at all here. I got the fixes I needed with an inspection and was on my way on the road again. I really appreciate the great customer service and discount I received. Hondura will probably be my go to place for my future car needs. Thanks again Paul and team for fixing my sexy beast!

Paul is the BEST mechanic ever! The most honest, lowest price, fastest and nicest ever!
After my car was towed to the wrong shop, unknown to me until I came here to pick it up and — it WASN’T (!!!), Paul had his driver take me to the actual shop where my car was, and the very kind driver refused any money/​tip for doing that!
HonDura on 356 in Irving is the best!
(So then I had to go to Beads Unlimited on Royal Ln in Dallas to «heal» from the «other shop’s» traumatic bill! Paul would have charged less than Half!)

The 1^st time I went to this place to get a rear brake replacement they seemed okay. I referred my husband to go there to get his brakes replaced and they completely messed up the alignment of his car, and bent a part causing his car not to be able to be aligned unless he has over a thousand dollars in work completed to replace the part that Hondura Car Service destroyed.
Now after going to get my front brakes replaced about a year ago, I find out that they left the brake pin off of my car, (which holds the brake in place, and is now causing the brake to make a flapping noise every time I come to a stop). This is now costing me a fortune at the dealership.
I will never take my car here again, nor will I refer anyone else to go here!

Went to the Toyota of Irving dealership for an oil change and to replace a bad tire for my ’05 Sequoia, and was informed that my brake pads needed to be replaced immediately. Informed the mechanic that I did not have the money for these additional repairs and he starts to apply pressure explaining how it would be very dangerous for me not to replace the brake pads this instant. I held my ground and sought out a second opinion from Hondura auto shop. The mechanic at Hondura informed that the pads were fine and would last me another 3 – 4 months. Once I had the money to make the repairs, the mechanics at Hondura replaced my brake pads for roughly ½ the price quoted at the dealership (they even used OEM parts). Going forward, this will be my mechanic of choice.

So far have been impressed with the cleanliness, professionalism, orderly exceptional service, and fair prices. Have taken both of my vehicles here. My Honda needed a variety of work done and it was all very satisfactory. My Camry had some work completed recently and the cost was $ 300 less than the overpriced dealership.
Place seems always packed with people of all walks of life… from Asian vehicles to high end vehicles. Really good sign!

I think the highest praise I can give this place is that when I was considering buying a used car, I brought it to Paul and David for a used car inspection and to make sure they could service it in the future. Side note, what they found helped me knock about $ 750 off the asking price. Best repair shop in Dallas. Honest and priced fair. Can’t recommend it enough.

Amazing car service! We’re very honest and had my car fixed within an hour for a great price! Just brakes quoted me $ 1500 while this place was way more friendly and only charged me $ 400. My car has never run better.

Dealer wanted $ 200 just in labor for one wheel. (Parts not included) You do the math.

Hondura has been my exclusive auto repair shop for over ten years now. I have a ’92 Civic 5-​speed that still gets 30 – 35 mpg and breezes through the emissions test on my yearly inspection. Almost 180K miles on it and it purrs like a kitten. It would be impossible to guess how much money Paul (the owner) has saved me over the years. I try and go during the middle of the week and I am usually in & out in no time. Even the ladies there are knowledgeable about your Honda. You can start telling them what’s wrong and they will tell you what you need before you have a chance to finish. There is also a tow truck service they work with if you can’t drive your car in, and the guy is cheap for a tow across town. You can even pay Hondura for the tow when you pay for your repairs if you need to & they’ll take care of the driver for you.
My dad bought a used Accord from a dealer who tried to get my dad to let them do several thousand dollars worth of repairs & maintenance they insisted it needed. I finally convinced him to take it to Paul & see what he said. They checked the car over and Paul told my dad what had to be done that day, what could be done a little later down the road, and also prioritized everything by how necessary it was or wasn’t. He spent a few hundred that day and got just about all the work done in due time at a fraction of what the dealer tried to charge.
As the name implies, they specialize in Hondas & Acuras. They will work on other Japanese cars, and even American cars if it’s not a major problem. If it is something major that you would be better off taking to somewhere that could handle the repair smoother, Paul will tell you that, too. They also give cash discounts (~5%) and will even let you bring in your own parts for them to use, saving you a little more there too. As someone else mentioned, the 30K mile service is right around $ 200, I believe the dealer gets you for about $ 500 nowadays for the same thing.
Good, fast, cheap, close, and HONEST!!! A star for each – FIVE STARS for Hondura!

In my past reviews, remember how I wrote about Honcura, how the original owner sold the place to his brother and moved home? Well he moved back and this is his place. So go here as well, I do!

My father-​in-​law tracked this place down a few years back when we were pricing out a timing belt replacement for my 1993 Honda Accord LX (210,000 mi). Hondura took care of it well under what others had quoted me. The work was done overnight and I had my car the next day.
I had since tried a few other repair shops out closer to work (Addison) and home (Lewisville). However, I never have felt as good about the work done as I have with Hondura. I recently dropped by there to have them look at a shift-​lock issue. One of the guys knew what the problem was right away, quoted me, and had the work done within 30 minutes.
I’ve heard one of the secrets is that the mechanics are all old Honda/​Accura manufacturers from plants in Japan. No idea if that’s true but they know the product, that’s for sure!

Note: The map here is inaccurate — it shows Hondura to be east of Loop 12, it is actually just west, on the north side of Irving Blvd.
First off, I’ll just say that I’m tempted to never buy anything other than a Honda or Acura, just because this place specializes in those makes (Hondura, get it?). I first discovered them back in the early 90’s, when they were located on Story Rd., and went by the name Honcura. They worked on my Civic several times, the work was always done right, and their price was always at least 20% lower than any other estimate I got elsewhere. One day the camshaft broke on the old Civic, and Paul agreed to replace it with one from a salvage yard, free of charge, just so I could get it to the dealership and trade it in, which I did the next day.
So I end up moving to E. Dallas, a few years go by, and I don’t need any repairs on my new Accord. Then one day I get a postcard in the mail saying that «Paul is back!», listing the new name and address on Irving Blvd. I haven’t gone to another car repair place since. Having a mechanic you can count on = peace of mind.
