Food comes out hot. Reminds you of home cooked meals from momma/grandmomma Staff is friendly. This place has been here for years and it would nice to see them touch up the diner. The bathroom is small and disgusting. I always wait to use the bathroom if I need to. I enjoy seeing familiar faces. It seems like the staff never changes. I love it. 4 stars only because they have to do something with their bathrooms. Lol

Love this place. Quick service. Amazing pies and consistent food. I love the tetrazzini, chicken fried chicken, chicken and dumplings and chicken and dressing. The chocolate fried pie with ice cream is a must have!!!

Absolutely nothing special about this place, of course nothing in Irving is special. I had the fried catfish… eh. Didn’t feel clean. Service was a joke. The type of diner you would see in an episode of Breaking Bad, where drunks go to smoke a cig and drown out their nonstop hangover with greesy diner food.

I was upset that I drove 20 mins. To eat canned goods. I got chicken fried steak which was greasy and the crust fell off. The green beans and black eyed peas tasted like they just opened up a couple of cans and heated it through. And the gravy tasted like a mix. Plus, the place could use a good scrub down. I didn’t finish my food and don’t plan to go back. If your in the area and hungry then it’s a cheap, hot meal. But not very good other wise. Food bland but cheap.

We came here thanks to a groupon. We walked in to the restaurant and weren’t greeted or even acknowledged for 4 minutes. That may not sound bad, but this restaurant is very small. It would be simple to throw me a smile and a «we’ll be with you in a just a moment». The walls have quotes painted on them; the first one I saw when we entered read«the magic words are please and thank you». The menu features«ATTITUDEADJUSTMENT…0.00». The recurring theme of politeness is ironic because the servers are very indifferent bordering on rude — which drives me crazy because they work for tips! You make better money when you’re friendly. Our server never said«you’re welcome» in response to the several times I said«thank you» for taking my order, bringing me coffee, delivering my food, refilling said coffee, etc. That’s just tacky. The bussers and cooks all seemed cheerful and friendly. There were also some younger girls working(one of whom was our cashier) that were very pleasant and sweet. So our service was«meh», but probably could have been good/great if we sat elsewhere. We had the chicken fried steak breakfast and biscuits & gravy breakfast. The food was great, eggs cooked perfectly, hash browns crisp, not greasy, and the coffee was very good as well. We left full and happy for $ 22.28 All in all it was more good than bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

The food here is wonderful it was an awesome experience for welcoming and inviting people by the staff. I will recommend it to everyone. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. My best friend and I enjoyed the home cooked food and pleasant atmosphere. It was truly a wonderful dining experience. Bathrooms are disgusting.

Typical homecooking/diner type setup. Tables and booths with all sorts of knick-nacks around, plus various«family related» quotes painted on the walls. The food was alright. IMO, it wasn’t worth driving from SW Fort Worth to Irving for, but it was alright. I had a breakfast with the«top sirloin.» I was VERY not-impressed with their ¼″ thick cut of whatever cut of meat that REALLY was. The meat was cooked the way I requested, though, and everything else was good. Otherwise, this would’ve been two stars. I thought the hashbrowns were above average. There was something about the texture that seemed like they probably shredded the potatoes on-site. The scrambled eggs were … meh. Not great. Not bad. The biscuits and gravy were pretty decent, though. If I had gotten ham instead of the«top sirloin,» I probably would’ve had a better opinion of this place. IMO, if you’re going to put some sort of STEAK on the menu, make sure a typical hamburger patty from a fast food joint isn’t going to be thicker. If it is, you’re setting yourself up to disappoint customers. Would I go back? Yeah, maybe, if I were in the area. I would NOT trek across town again for it, though. :(

I come to Irving about twice a month and try to grave breakfast there every time. Everything is made from scratch. Some of the best biscuits I have every had. Lunches are equally as good with generous servings and home made rolls just like my Grandma made. There is nothing really fancy about the restaurant and contrary to what a previous person posted, I have always had a clean table and never seen the place look filthy. I’m guessing that person is a chain food fan, they probably should be looking for Olive Garden.

Have been looking for a different place to eat lunch when I work over in this area and decided to try Mama’s Daughters Restuarant. I went with a staple in Texas, the Chicken Fried Steak, pinto beans, mashed potatoes w/gravy, and baked summer squash. It arrived in less than 3 minutes and was piping hot. I will say it was not fancy, but it tasted great and the portions were very generous. After eating my fill, I had enough left over for a second meal to take home. I took an order of banana pudding home as well but it looked so good, it never made it past my last break at work. It tasted as good as it looked. Like I said, the restaurant and food isn’t fancy, but if what you want are generous portions that taste like what you remember from grandma’s house on Sunday afternoons, then this is the place for you. On a side bar, some previous reviews have talked about issues with flies and cleanliness. During my meal, they were very busy but tables were cleaned quickly, the floors were clean, and I saw no evidence of flies or any other insects.

I ate lunch here today wnd ordered chicken and dressing, pinto beans, turnip greens, macaroni and cheese. The greens were not bad but everything else was straight out of cans. The macaroni and cheese had fake cheese sauce, the pinto beans were over seasoned, and the chicken was unappetifing to look at. The gravy on the dressing was a bright yellow, and the chicken was straight out of a can. We ordered apple crumb pie and had to hunt for the apples in the gooey filling. I won“t be going back

I’ve been here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is really good, their portions are huge(I can split one meal into two or three portions for myself) and their prices are just right. I had a really hard time finding the place the first time — i kept driving right past it. It is right next to the braums and right behind the auto place. I can’t believe I missed it because I was living right next to it for almost 4 years and never once noticed it. But once I went, I couldn’t stop going back.

I had the roast beef, broccoli and baked potato. The roast was good, the broccoli was cooked to an odd shade of green and mushy. My husband had the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. He said it was all good. He had a dinner salad also, a good portion of the lettuce was brown. For dessert I had the peach cobbler and he had the chocolate pie. The cobbler looked like peach mush. My husband said the pie was good. Another reason for the rating of 3 stars is because this establishment is filthy! The floors and the booth seats are covered in food and trash. Our table has left over food on it and is sticky!!! Good Grief!

Everything’s all Southern and made with love. Cornbread is awesome. I usually will stay with their breakfast options — mmmyeah bacon & eggs! Older building but very friendly servers. Also it’s cheap. So if fast hot breakfast is what you’re looking for, down home type stuff it’s worth checking out. Don’t except ambience though, just cozy yummy eats and good folks. I’m overdue for a trip back!

Arrived at 10:00 on a Sunday to a full parking lot. 5he average service more than made up for the remarkable food. I ordered a #1 breakfast my wife had the roast beef followed by a fried pie. Had we not made a pact to try a new restaurant every time we eat out after moving to Irving I would be back tomorrow.

I am so sad my fellow Unilocalies! This was my second visit in a two year span here at this location. First visit was for pancakes and pie. Denny’s can hit them harder on a busy day and Denny’s is not great… as we all know. Second visit :(WORSE. Walking in this time, no greeting to any of the customers including myself. There were flies everywhere. The majority of the clientele is elderly so I guess that is why I got hospital mush. Chicken tetrazzini(watered down cream of mushroom taste), chicken fried chicken(tasteless batter), mashed potatoes w/brown gravy(instant potatoes that dried up after twenty minutes with flavorless gravy… Disclaimer :) when I say flavor, I do not mean salt although salt was not present either. Now the fried okra awesome and the chili cheese fries were ok. The prices are reasonable but you can actually get better flavor at a nursing home. After reading current reviews, I was still disappointed again. Will not return.

Was early catching my Megabus in Grand Prairie and needed some food. Is it me or does a lot of places in Grand Prairie look sketch? Luckily this diner was less than 15 minutes from the bus stop. It’s s small and cozy diner. They served breakfast all day but I wasn’t in the mood. They have really good lunch/dinner specials every day of the week. Each special comes with 3 sides and a basket of rolls and cornbread for about $ 9. I tried the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, corn, and a green salad. BF had the breaded catfish with fried okra, corn, and mashed potatoes. Our food came out piping hot and everything tasted homemade. Our waitress was so nice and checked on us frequently! When you’re ready just grab your ticket and pay at the front. Wish they had one closer to Mckinney!

WHAT! How have I not reviewed Mama’s?! Totally slacking, Unilocal. My bad. To be honest, I don’t really know where to start. The Chicken Fried Steak is slap yo mama good and the mashed potatoes are homemade goodness. My beau is a diner connoisseur and couldn’t be more pleased with the down home goodness and vibe of this place. If you’re in the mood for comfort food, head to mama’s daughters and get down with the goodness.
