For starters, I notice a lot of people complaining about the old man who answers the phone. This place is family owned not Dominos. The man who answers speaks in broken English and in their culture it’s not about answering the phone with a fake smile each time. Its an old man! He does his job how he should, just order your food and get over it, geeze! That being said, since it’s family owned, I expected the quality to be home-cooked style. I ordered the broccoli chicken and I’ll be completely honest and say it tasted like microwave food. The broccoli chicken was laying in a pool of gooey water that felt artificial. The flavor was good but I can’t get over how artificial it felt. I really liked the spill proof packaging it came in. My husband enjoyed his meal and the service is fast. We got our food within 25 minutes even though the man said it would be 14 mins, still pretty good. Overall this a good place if you’re really hungry and busy. Not the best, but it passes.

The food has been decent, but the guy who answers the phone is ridiculously rude and they are often out of items required to make the food-I would definitely look elsewhere for service and delivery.

I gave Red Pepper a chance because my normal place was closed. I didn’t check Unilocal before we ordered but I did check the Google reviews, where people urged me to stay away. I should have listened. The man who answered the phone was so rude. I know how usually phone deliveries go: phone number, address, what do you want. We had a menu already that had been left at my door, and ordered our two items quickly. Chicken fried rice and beef lo mein, off of the lunch menu. Somehow came out to $ 15, but ok. Got the food in in under a hour, as I was quoted. The order was wrong. We got the beef lo mein and a chicken lo mein. I seen the hand written receipt when I took the order from the delivery man, which was correct. So I called Red Pepper back. He told me to hold on, then said he could bring me the chicken fried rice but right now he didn’t have a driver and it would be a long time. He said he wanted the chicken lo mein back if I chose that option. I said I would just eat it because I was hungry. So he said next time I need to check my order. So basically he made me feel like it was my fault. No sorry or anything. My chicken lo mein sucked. There was hardly any chicken, and the chicken tasted off to me. There was probably 5xs more noodles than chicken. I couldn’t even see the chicken in the meal without pushing all of the noodles around. My sister didn’t seem thrilled about beef lo mein and ate less than half of it. Needless to say, I will never return. I’m mad at myself for ignoring those Google reviews and giving this place a chance. I don’t know why Unilocal’s reviews seem slightly better than the Google reviews but I can relate to the Google reviews more. This place was terrible.

Alright, so Red Pepper in Irving isn’t the most enticing form of Chinese take-out that one could conjure, however the consistency – in my humble opinion – is rather notable. Perhaps this is due to the fact to ordering the same entrées each time: Szechuan Beef(spicy), General Tso’s, and Combination Fried Rice. The business is run by a family. I have noticed the father, who answers the phone, is difficult to understand and a but terse. The son, however, who handles the deliveries, is always pleasant.

$ 7.00 for lunch. It was hot and spicy just like I like with white rice. Small egg roll could be larger. The guy at the counter was very nice, helpful and respectful to me. It was to hot to eat at the restaurant with very little air conditioning. The floors were dirty.

Got incredibly quick delivery. However, that was about the only good thing. The price on the menu did not line up with the price I was charged(6 $+6.50 $, I was charged almost 16+tip.) The food itself was kind of tasteless. I think this place is trying to be calorie conscious but it made both things I ordered taste bland and uninspired. There is much better Chinese around if you like flavor in your food.

Started out good but eventually went down hill, you would think that the establishment would read the Unilocal reviews and make amends.

I don’t add reviews much but this one is necessary. Stopped by for lunch today and ordered my usual General Taos chicken. I WASSERVEDROTTENCHICKEN! The first few pieces were fine, but then I took a bite that tasted funky. Spit it out and moved on to the next one. Fine. The next one, ROTTEN! Picked up the half chewed piece of chicken and it smelled like garbage and was greyish brown. Had the manager smell it even and he admitted it wasn’t right. Talked to the kitchen and apparently some old pieces from days before made it into my food. Walked out of that place and never going back. Let’s hope I don’t get sick since I spit it out. We’ll see tomorrow…

Growing up in urban areas on the East Coast I have been able to enjoy REAL good Chinese food. This is good, just not REAL good. I get mostly delivery & occasionally takeout, but they do have a couple tables if you want to sit there & eat. No atmospere-not even any music I can recall so you won’t impress a date or a customer. Service extremely good & prompt regardless of table, takeout or delivery. Food is above average for this area prices reasonable. I usually order a medly of appetizers & no entrée. I like cho cho beef, fried dumplings and egg rolls. I have had entrees & they are good, especially orange beef. Hint: dinner portions are HUGE even for a big guy with a big appetite like me so order one to split and some extra appetizers so 2 people can eat or go at lunch when portions are smaller & cheaper

This place is a huge disappointment! It is a waste of money, quality of the food is just not worth a penny and they’re not willing to take back to crap food they serve you. Do not wast your time or money.

Always love ordering from this place! Food is great and they are so accommodating to request. I am very picky and do not hesitate to prepare my food to my specific and most likely annoying food request without hesitation. Never disappointed and always deliver quickly! Plus they are very pleasant over the phone :-)

Its good food. I like that they give plenty of crunchy noodles with the soup. Their is a female waitress that works there most days who is really friendly, comical, and visiting with her is my favorite part of the whole trip. I wish they would get a soda fountain and not canned drinks. I also wish they made their own tea. This place is worth a try. Keep in mind, this is Irving. As we know its not the city it was even 10 years ago. Thus, be very safe and very careful when in the area.

This restaurant obviously caters to take-out & delivery. We entered on a Saturday around 10 minutes before their Lunch time specials ended(before 2PM?). The guy at the counter said that they will still honor the lunch time menu, which made us happy. The restaurant itself only has a table or two; it’s really a hole in the wall looking affair which I assume most of the customers order delivery. The guy was really nice to us, and brought our food to us quickly. The food was typical Asian take-out, which were generous portions that included a soup and rice. Their lunch menu is a pretty good deal. We finished eating, paid at the counter and were given fortune cookies. We don’t live near this place, but it was a pleasant quick stop to eat, so I would recommend it if you’re in the mood for some Americanized Chinese food.

We ordered spring rolls, spicy combo and schezwan tofu for delivery. The spring rolls were good. The chef needs to be taught the meaning of schezwan, our dish was extremely soft tofu soaked in soy sauce and they threw in some peas. yuck! it was soo not food that edible to eat! my husband said the spicy combo was eatable somehow. These kind of places really need to learn to cook, before they throw in names on their menu and price them like restaurants. NEVEREAT from here

My wife was packing for a trip in the morning, so I wanted to order delivery since she had already eaten. I had received a menu on my door, so I decided to try Red Pepper. There were a lot of menu options to choose from. I chose the Dan Dan noodles, since I love the Dan Dan at P.F. Changs. I also chose the option to upgrade to a whole meal with egg roll, chicken wing and soup. So I called in and ordered. I asked three times to make sure there were no mushrooms in my meal. The manager, who was taking my order, then asked if I wanted anything else. I mentioned the rice that was supposed to be included per the menu. He explained that most people don’t want rice with a noodle meal. My $ 13.25 Dan Dan was delivered in a timely manner. It smelled good. First I ate the egg roll, mediocre at best. I was also disappointed in the fried rice– it was really greasy without much taste. Then, I opened up my sweet and sour soup. To my surprise it was swimming with black chopped mushrooms. I immediately called back. The manager picked up. I preceded to tell him about the mushrooms. Then he told me that they’re NOT mushrooms, they’re I Chinese plant called«wood ear.» I said thank you, then I googled wood ear, and found out is IS a mushroom, and it was really obvious. Now I don’t have an allergy to mushrooms, but if I did I could very well be dead. I called back and educated the manager as to wood ear is a mushroom, and also told him it is his responsibility to know his ingredients for allergy info. I will most definitely not be ordering from here again.
