We stopped in on Friday night for dinner after we left Bellingrath. We’ve been here many times over the years and while it’s not fancy, it’s a delicious meal each and every time. My wife ordered the crab claws and I went with the seafood platter. It was simply some of the best food around. Service was great as always and we’ll be sure to stop in again.

I have been to the Lighthouse twice and must admit that I have only had the fried oysters. The reason I have only had the fried oysters is that they are some of the very best I have ever eaten and I have had them everywhere in the US. Perfectly cooked, not too much breading and great flavor. Of course, it helps that they are close to the main Alabama oyster source. Wait staff couldn’t have been nicer or more attentive. Not a high end atmosphere but very good food.

Just ate here on recommendation from a friend… the crab claws were amazing! We got the fried but will definitely try the sautéed next time, didn’t know it was an option or we would have tried both. Service was quick and friendly. Also got the crab cake and oyster po’boys which were very good as well. Just an all around good down home country seafood restaurant. :)

My wife and I went here last night and really enjoyed it. Wednesday night is mullet and grits, but I passed. We both got the shrimp po boy. It was not huge, but the bread was good and soft. The fries were also good. My wife got an order of hush puppies and they were delicious. If you are in south Mobile County they are definitely worth a try.

Been here half an hour and no food and this is 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon! Plenty of cars in the lot so it must be good. Not a word from the wait staff.

The crab claws and fried shrimp were decent, but the fried catfish my wife ordered did not look or taste like catfish — I’m pretty sure it was whitefish.

Love this restaurant. Their fried seafood is fabulous. They have the best batter ever. My one disappointment was that they no longer have homemade pies for dessert.

I must have caught them on off night or something. Took some friends there on a co-worker’s recommendation back in July and I just was not impressed.

We’ve been several times, and it’s always pretty good. Small town, nothing fancy kind of place, but the food is fresh, and you get quite a bit for you money. Definitely worth giving it a try.

Locally owned restaurant serving fresh local seafood including best and biggest delicious crab claws anywhere. Also listed under restaurants in Irvington, AL. Call ahead to check on crab claw availability. Daily lunch specials. This place has character, ya’ll! Easy short drive off I-10 just west of Mobile, AL. It’s where local folk eat. I give this 4 stars.

Best fried oysters I’ve ever had. Squash is perfectly done and you can’t beat the crab claws.

Must have: Fried crab claws bigger than a linebacker’s thumb. Good sweet tea. Good fried shrimp. Skip the stuffed crab. Hush puppies meh.

Best fried seafood I’ve ever had. Crab claws are out of this world. I thought a fried crab claw was a fried crab claw; but WOW. The best.

You have to try the fried crab claws, I have never heard of them before but they were great! They make their own salad dressings wonderful, I love seafood and highly recommend this place. Thanks to Unilocal for the recommendation.

Yesterday I went back to the Lighthouse and tried something new and different there — homestyle burger with fries and battered mushrooms. I was told by people who had eaten it that it was made in the restaurant — the burger. Ahem, it was frozen and there were multiple burgers on the grill that were all pressed from the same mold, also the fries are not fresh cut they are poured from a bag, and the mushrooms are also frozen and cooked in the restaurant. The RB is still good, but my going to the restaurant is decreasing after seeing that and the time it took to deliver to me was 35 minutes, the excuse was that there was a large party. Well you do not ignore everyone else in the restaurant to care for a single large table, you interleave other orders — that is just bad kitchen management. The management did not even offer to adjust my ticket. hmm

Stopped here for lunch with some co-workers. Not much else is this area, so this place was packed. We seated ourselves in a back room that was nice and cool thanks to two window AC units. Our co-workers were regulars here, so they ordered up the fried crab claws for us to start off with. The reviews don’t lie, these things were big and tasty! Since I LOVE gumbo, I had to try it out(as a second appetizer). I was impressed, the roux was a dark brown color and on the thick side(which I prefer) with shrimp and lots of okra. Gumbo is not gumbo without okra! For my meal I had the grilled shrimp salad. The salad was huge for a lunch portion and the shrimp on top were served warm and seasoned well(not too salty which occurs often on grilled shrimp). Beyond the shrimp it was your basic chef salad with all the fixin’s. I couldn’t finish it! If you are ever in the area and have hesitations since it’s the only place around, definitely give it a try. If all else, make a meal of those crab claws!

The food is consistently good. Fried anything is probably best but we have had the sauteed crab claws and they too are good. The have a soup that is their own concoction… chicken and oyster with rice; I know it sounds strange but it is delicious and popular. Friendly servers make it expecially nice.

I had the deep fried crab claws, which were very good. I wasn’t in love with the place, but it is family-friendly and you get good bang for your buck.

I only have four words for this place … Deep. Fried. Crab. Claws. I mean, seriously. This certainly is a bare bones place and is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but dayum! A lot of the menu contains the word«fried» as a descriptor, but these have to be the best crab claws I’ve ever had. No joke.
