Busy Beaver

Although Busy Beaver can be more expensive than Lowe’s or Home Depot, it’s not a bad place to stop if you’re in need of something quick, since there is no other ‘home improvement’ type store in Irwin. Closest Home Depot is in North Versailles and, therefore, 7% sales tax. Closest Lowe’s is in either Monroeville or Greensburg, both a pain the a$$ to get in and out of. Although, depending what you’re looking for, Wal-​Mart can be a possible alternative.
Sometimes I can find decent sales, like yesterday when I picked up 4 bungee cords for $ 2. And they usually have clothing on sale — tee shirts for $ 1, long sleeved shirts for $ 2, etc. Of course, these are just plain shirts but would be good to use as «work shirts» for cutting grass, gardening, home projects… you get my drift. As I mentioned, Busy Beaver tends to be more expensive than competitors for some things, such as lighting, cleaning supplies, etc. If you have a rewards card, you can score some great deals. Not my first choice, but it’s close by and convenient. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable.
