Evergreen Academy Preschool

I loved Evergreen for my infant son. I toured many schools in the area including Bright Horizons and Goddard. I liked Evergreen better than both schools and chose to enroll my child at three months old. The principal, Ami, is amazing. She runs a tight ship. The school is clean, organized and she holds her teachers accountable. My infant teachers, Amy, Vanarra and Emma were also great. I never felt uncomfortable leaving my son with them and felt they truly cared for him and loved him when I was away at work.
I ended up moving out of state and hated leaving this school. I have toured so many schools in my new state and cannot find a school that compares. Ami and her staff just set the bar that high. She even checked in with me to make sure my move went well and my child settled at his new school.

My daughter now goes to Bright Horizons after 3 months with Evergreen. It is amazing to see how the 2 schools are different in dealing with the exact same issue.
Evergreen is impatient, inexperienced, unprofessional and shows no loving for the kids; on the very contrast, Bright Horizon handles the problem so well that it almost justifies for the high prices they charge (almost)! If you are interested in the details, please keep on reading…
My daughter has a biting problem in the school, which is very common for a toddler of her age (2.5 years-​old). Upon receiving the notices from Evergreen, we took it very seriously. We both went to the school to talk with the teachers and seek advice on how to deal with this problem. We weren’t given much details of the incident, neither were we given much advice on what to do. We were told everything was OK, except we just need to repeatedly remind her not to do so in the future. However, right after we walked out of the office, we were slammed with an email saying she will be suspended from the school if it happens again! I guess the staff simply wants to avoid telling us that face to face.
It is impossible for a toddler to correct this type of behavior from the next day on, but I guess that’s what the Evergreen staff expected. Unfortunately, it did happen again. The school issued a 30-​day suspension for her! Not to mention if the penalty is too much for a toddler of her age, this type of notice is basically a way of them telling us that they don’t want this kid in this school.
Beside the biting issues, the staff in this school also shows extreme impatience with the children. My daughter has already been potty-​trained while she was attending Evergreen, but the staff refuse to let her going into the classroom without a diaper. Despite several explanations from us that she has already used to be diaper-​free, but the lead-​teacher in the class still refuses.
Now my daughter goes to Bright Horizons, it amazes us that every single thing they do is in sharp contrast with what Evergreen does. The staff at BH informed us how they would be dealing with incidents such as biting even before we mentioned that to them. I will not mention it one by one on how BH staff handles the issue here, but trust me it will put Evergreen to shame.
The only good thing I can say about Evergreen is that their monthly rate is low compared with other schools.
However, buyers beware, if they are cheap, they are cheap for a reason!!!

We enrolled this school because it is new in Sammamish area and the other branches is with good reputation. However, I am disappointed about the lead teacher in the classroom. She is not as warm as we expected and almost no communication with us. When we said hi to her several times in the morning, she was still focus on her work or chat with the others. My kid was always talking to me about her assist teacher and after school teachers, never mentioned her lead teacher’s name. The lead teacher should take key role in the class, because of this, we decided to move to the new school.

Evergreen Academy is an amazing school! My daughter has been attending Evergreen for a year now in their toddler program. We have had the best experience. The campus is brand new and beautiful. The classrooms are perfect and the playground is huge with sections for each age group so it’s totally safe. Living in Issaquah, it’s a challenge with all of the rain. The kids go outside all year round in rain gear. Love that!
Our daughter has been in Ms. Cody’s class. I can’t imagine having a better teacher for our little girl. She loves her school and teacher so much that she sings her teacher and classmate’s names on the way to school. The school principal’s name is Ami. She is a total rockstar. She is so involved with all of the classes and their families. I love how welcoming and friendly she is.
I looked at every school available in our area for 1 year olds last year. This was by far the best and only choice for us. If you are looking for a school for your little one you need to tour Evergreen. You won’t regret it!
