So my daughter’s friend is always raving about Mackey’s. They went last night. They ordered hot chicken: deep fried fatty cheap chicken pieces in a spicy sauce; steamed pork buns: more bread than meat, flavorless; footballs: basically mochi wrapped around some kind of flavorless filling, the mochi was crispy and chewy. My favorite; dumplings: filling had flavor, but texture made it seem like the meat wasn’t cooked. I’ve had dim sum in china town in Seattle. That was delicious… Unfortunately, our experience last night was not. Use better quality meat, season your food, and put more filling in your buns.

LOVE… not just the dim sum, which is very good, but the few people there that make it a fun experience. From the beginning, Sunny makes you feel so welcome. He’s personable and you really see the pride he has in the food there. Angel, who is no Angel! :), she is a doll. She will tell you the Seahawks score, so make sure you tell her NOTTO! But all in all, my husband and I have been going just about every weekend since we moved here… it’s affordable and nummy!

Overall, Macky’s is one of the best places for dim sum on the eastside. Living in Issaquah, it is really convenient when I want to fill my dim sum fix without driving to Seattle(or Richmond). The owners used to own China Gate in Chinatown, but now they have a smaller place in Gilman Village. There are the usual dim sum suspects, but I also like the beef chow fun here. I also like the fact that I can get some dim sum at night as well, which makes it convenient to order dinner and dim sum after work. Next time, skip the places in Factoria and Bellevue and drive the extra 5 minutes to Macky’s for some dim sum.

Great Dim sum, one of the few places where the dim is quite good in the east side — bookmakers to return!

Food: I believe their food is NOT perp onsite. All food I have ordered(in my pic) tasted frozen or was leftover from the day before. Service: Server does not smile during greeting and serving. Requested water twice before received and it wasnt even busy. My search for the best dim sum in Washington state continues. …

The owners are very friendly and super nice. They will make food dishes for you if they are not on the menu. They have a good selection of dim sum at lunch time. This is good for when you don’t want to drive all the way into Seattle for dim sum.

A friend suggested this place. It was quite busy for lunch. Clean nice and friendly service. Filled our water and checked in on us in a timely manner. Ordered stuffed eggplant — good, steamed pork buns — needs more filling therefore tried the baked ones and they had more fillings so that was better. The pork shumais and pork gyoza were pretty good our favs actually. Steamed shrimp and fried shrimp in wrappers seemed to need a few more minutes cooking. Was kinda mushy inside. Parsley dim sum was ok. Tried the Shanghai steamed dumplings with soup inside and they were flat. Nothing special — we were disappointed. Garlic string beans were ok just like the fried veggie rolls. The Mochi balls with red bean were very good. Overall a decent place for dim sum than a drive to Seattle.

The review is for the service, the food is decent dim sum with good selection, but if you can make the trek to Top Gun or Jade Garden, do it. A lot of the dumpling skins here are very thick and some of the sauces are a bit gloppy. The service is top though, I’m greeted like an old friend every time I walk in, which isn’t really too often. After my first time there, the owner remembered me and welcomed me the next trip in! Water is always refilled, suggestions are offered, and they always check in to make sure everything is ok. I’ve moved to Bellevue and I’ve stopped coming here but for Issaquah, this is not bad at all.

Food was good! The BBQ pork steamed buns seemed really authentic. Definitely would go here again.

Decided to branch out of our normal sit-at-home-on-a-Sunday routine and thought we’d give Macky’s a try. As we walked in, we were seated immediately, given ice water and tea. A cart come by when we had barely settled in and right away we got loaded up. Baked BBQ Pork Bun — I wasn’t a fan of the baked bbq pork bun. Too little filling and too much bread. The bread was too dry for my taste and had a honey-type glaze on the top. A little odd. I did save the extra pieces of bun and soaked up the broth from the bok choi with it. Delicious! Taro Root Pork Dumpling — I wasn’t too sure of the dumpling as I have no idea what taro root tastes like but thought«what the heck» and tried it. It was the best item of the day for both my husband and I. The outside was crisp and airy; the inside was just delicious. Steamed Pork Sui Mai — I’ve had a version of sui mai before but only from a fast food type of place so I thought it would be fun to give this a try. The flavors were delicious but there was A LOT of pork and not much wrapper. I’m not complaining about the amount of pork but would have loved to have a better wrapper to pork ratio. Still very good. Steamed Shanghai soup dumpling — this was the last item we chose. I wish we had chosen it earlier in the meal as it was so unique and delicious. Little dumplings with a broth and pork ball inside, steamed to perfection. A nice green onion accent flavor, too. Garlic sauteed baby bok choi — This was my surprise of the day. I like bok choi but wasn’t all that kicky about just getting it sauteed and on a plate but hubby wanted it so I went along. Silly me. There was a great bok choi flavor that was accented by a tasty garlic broth. I was sad to see the bottom of the dish on this one. BBQ pork — I was expecting the traditional Americanized bbq pork with the red coloring that you get in all the restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was actually roasted and the coloring on it was because of the bbq sauce not an additive. Very well made and so delicious and tender Steamed Shrimp Ball — What you read is what you get. No big surprise here but it was very tasty — tender wrapper with yummy filling. Honey cashew prawns were tasty, but that’s a pretty fail-safe item. You have to work to screw that one up. Pork potstickers — I’m a fan of potstickers and these were done well but were of the sort you can get in any Chinese joint. They paled in comparison to the new food experiences we were having. We nearly had to roll out of there because we were so full. I read in another review that the pork items all tasted different and was pleased to have experienced that as well. There were so many tastes but yet there was nothing that stood out as odd or out of place in this meal. The drawback: We were inundated immediately after we sat down and at one point told them we would like to eat what we had on the table. They pushed carts past us to serve other customers and we assumed that when they saw that our plates were empty, they would resume offering things to us. They did not. We had to ask to get the last few items because they wouldn’t stop by our table again. Our servers(there were 3 or 4) were still attentive but I would’ve like the cart ladies to have been so as well. Overall, a great experience that we heartily enjoyed. We will be back.

We came here for dinner tonight and left happy and full. Does more need be said? They don’t bring around the dim sum trolley carts during their supper run, but you can still order smaller plates of all the same dishes. And boy, the food is good! Tonight we ordered: steamed bok choy, garlic green beans, shrimp-stuffed eggplant, a noodle dish(not sure which one. My friend ordered this. She loved it), large pork-stuffed round dumplings(my other friend ordered this. He loved it), and soup-filled smaller dumplings. Everything was fresh and delicious. And the price was super reasonable, too. If you want fancy, don’t come here. This place has none of the trappings of a finer restaurant. The menus consist of laminated papers. Ours had a bit of dried, encrusted food on it.(Gross, I know). However, our table was clean and the rest of the restaurant was clean, and our food was excellent. Service was prompt and the bill, for all our food, was $ 42. And we had enough for leftovers. Now THAT is a deal!

Taste is fine and not from frozen. I believe that they make the dough in the back like it should be and should not be from frozen. They use a piece of paper to not have each dim sum stick to the bamboo steamer like most places do. However, I would much rather have it on a price of lettuce to avoid any chemicals that could leach out into the dim sum. The BBQ dimsum was more bread than BBQ compared to most places so it was a bit more bread than I was expecting. This actually worked put good for me since I try not to eat a bunch of meat but if you are typically american maybe not good for you. Over all I enjoyed the place.

It’s been quite a while since my last visit. Today I strayed from the norm since my friends wanted plate lunch vs dim sum and noonies. I ordered a plate of dry chow fun(vs wet) and was pleased with both the portion and price. My friends both had Hong Kong style fish. One at 5 star and the other at 3. Both were happy with their order. On a whim I got one order of Har Gau(shrimp) and was disappointed that it was only warm. I’ve had this problem there before. Dim sum is a tough business as hot stuff must be served hot but not left to steam for a long time or things get mushy. Best thing when going there is observe what’s happening then order one or two items to see if they are hot. If not, not a huge loss. Move on to something else like an order of Hong Kong style chow mein. Macky does try to please as he has always been willing to customize dishes to suit my tastes.

This is a tough one to rate. We just ate here today and thought the food was not bad. It definitely does not compare to San Francisco, or Vancouver dim sum, but it wasn’t terrible either. We had the siu Mai, shrimp dumplings, chive shrimp dumplings, the new year cake?, egg tarts and a ¼ roast duck. I was pleasantly surprised with the duck– the skin was crispy and the meat was flavorful. The service was also very good for a Chinese restaurant. Now here’s where it gets difficult. It’s been 6 hours since we ate here. I am obliviously ok, typing away this review. My boyfriend has been going in and out of the bathroom, with Chinese food coming out of both ends(seriously) for the past 1.5 hours. We did eat the same food and it is likely he may have had a bad dumpling. In any case, seeing how dim sum and a bowl of cereal consumed 13 hours ago were the only meals we had, I would lay the blame to the dim sum. This is unfortunate considering we were planning to return here in the future. Overall, the dim sum is decent if you’re willing to risk food poisoning(and the associated cleanup).

I really enjoyed coming here for lunch. There were many open tables and the service was very quick. Call me crazy, but I’ve never been to an actual Dim Sum restaurant, so I wasn’t ready when the cart came around… but I adapted quickly. The Pork Buns: delicious. Garlic Green Beans: delicious. Potstickers: the meat inside was rather tiny and the outside wasn’t crispy. Hot & Sour Soup: it lives up to its name! My taste buds weren’t fully ready for it… or my nose for that matter. It’s spicier than most places I’ve been to. However, I really liked it. Yes, I wasn’t as adventurous with my choices, but I will when I return if I’m ever in the area.

Trying out this place, all day dim sum, on a busy street of Issaquah. In terms of service they were pretty friendly, they include a fork as their default settings, which seems to be very common for them. They like to push food onto you, which isn’t the best idea if people tell you no like at least three times. The food was okay, not very fresh, even though they do sell dim sum all day. When we got our check, the calculations were off, they marked us off on things that we didn’t order, and they added an extra tax amount themselves. We didn’t say anything because it seemed like that’s what they were going to go with, but probably never coming back again.

Simply delightful Dim Sum on the Eastside! This place is amazing! The quality of this place is like you’d find in a Dim Sum specialty restaurant in Vancouver! A relatively newer restaurant in the area — Macky’s opened in 2009. Don’t let their youth dissuade you — these are seasoned professionals! After running a successful restaurant in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown for over 30 years — the owners opened up shop out in Issaquah to bring some much needed Dim Sum dining to the Eastside! The owners are very friendly and attentive. They take great pride in personally greeting everyone and following up on your experience that meal. They are very hands on and oversee everything — the attention to detail really shows! There is literally something here for every eater: They have a full menu of the traditional Chinese food fare you’d expect: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chow Mein, etc. Lots of vegetarian options too! But they also are able to do «off menu» special requests — lots of locals here on the weekends ordering traditional hot pot. The crown jewel of this place for me however is their Dim Sum. Available all day by order — it is hot, fresh, fast and wonderful! My favorites are the steamed bok Choy, steamed BBQ pork buns, cilantro shrimp balls and the fried footballs… literally these little pillows of goodness are labeled on the menu as «footballs» after their shape — they are a do not miss for the Dim Sum fan! Good stuff!
