Like many others have said, this place is incredibly fast. I was literally in there for no more than 6 minutes. Fumbling around with the credit card and signing probably took longer than the actual haircut. However, doing anything hastily will impact quality. When I came here, I got a very simple buzz cut, but the blending was okay at best. I found several strands of long hair the following week, which bothered me. But for $ 12, I guess I’ll take it. For approximately the same price, I would highly prefer to go downtown to the Cornell Barber Shop, but the convenience of this place located in collegetown does help. She also accepts credit card, which is a huge plus.

My son decided he needed a hair cut while we were visiting Ithaca, and we found this place. She was incredibly fast, and cheap. We left happy. I would highly recommend for men’s cuts.

Great find in Collegetown! It is a small shop with one station but she works very quickly and I didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes when I went in with one person ahead of me. The owner is very friendly and will make you feel like a valued customer. She does great work as well. I’m a simply buzzcut but the guy ahead of me was getting a scissor cut and he seemed pleased with the job she did. You really can’t beat the price – I’ve paid double for the same haircut elsewhere in town and not even been as happy with it.

I usually have this problem where, for the week or so following a haircut, I keep a hood on and minimize social interaction until my hair grows back a little because my hair always ends up awkwardly shorter than what I ask for. Somehow that didn’t happen here. The woman who works here works very fast. Her small shop is decorated with lots of sports memorabilia. She tries to make awkward small talk while she cuts your hair but I usually try to avoid those when getting my hair cut. Fast, cheap, and dependable if all you need is a simple haircut.

I have been to so many hair places in Ithaca, and I really should have just gone here from the beginning. As an Asian, I am extremely fussy about my hair because one small imperfection is extremely noticeable on my hair. If you’re not looking for a runway hairstyle, or one that requires blow-drying, curling, color, or styling, then this place is perfect. All I needed was a haircut that doesn’t make me look effed up. Out of all the places in Ithaca, the barber here was the only person who delivered. I’ll get my fancy haircuts when I move to NYC. For now, this is the only place in Ithaca I will go to from now on.

Here’s the deal: if you’re the kind of guy who wants some crazy fancy hairdo, then don’t come here and don’t review the Big Red Barbershop. It’s simply not for you: go to Boston or NYC as another reviewer advises, where you can pay 100 $ for a haircut and where your prissy needs, I am sure, will be addressed. If you want a great, normal haircut(high and tight, Ivy League, crewcut etc) at an unbeatable price, this is the place to go. The hairdresser here makes sure you look good before you leave, and she’s very friendly. She always has free food sitting out for special occasions too. Clearly she enjoys her job and it shows in the high quality of her work. I’ve always been happy with her haircuts, which I wish I could also say about other places nearby. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because it’s not open on weekends, which is unfortunately when I have most of my free time during the semester.

Walked in on a winter afternoon, no wait, no problem. The woman working there was friendly and FAST. I was in and out in 15 minutes, with a pretty decent cut. Very cheap as well, and she takes credit or cash.

Guys: If you want your head shaved go here. If you want a haircut, go elsewhere.

The lady that runs this place was lovely, nice, and has the skills to cut my difficult Asian hair! My regular when I was in grad school at Cornell. The various Cornell memorabilia gives the place a nice touch. She takes the time to do a fine job but does it in a timely matter where you don’t have sit all day to wait your turn. So good I might just have to stop for a haircut next time I visit Ithaca! Note: Google seemed to have goofed on directions. It’s in Collegetown. Turn left as you are going south of College Ave.
