I’m not feeling the Gimme Coffee vibe. I see their red exclamation points everywhere, but after this last visit it’ll be a while before I put one on my car… 1– The barista was rude in a detached can’t be bothered kinda way. He had difficulty controlling the eyeroll when asked questions about ingredients and practically ignored my child when she was ordering. Half the coffee shop experience is the barista, so things didn’t start off well. 2– The price for coffee was high, so I was expecting a superior coffee experience. Unfortunately not so. My espresso had hardly any crema(it took so long to come out), no twist, no spoon, was bitter, and they asked if I wanted milk(in an espresso?). I should have taken the blank stare when I ordered espresso with a twist as a clue. Next time I’ll go for a latte. 3– The flow is just terrible. You have to walk past dirty dishes, waiting customers, and customers in line to place your order. Strike that, reverse it! Customers shouldn’t have to navigate a maze to place an order. 4– The ambiance was cold, quiet, not much seating. We wanted to look at the art on the walls, but felt more like leaving. Le sigh. Small coffee shop should be warm, welcoming, good music. It smelled great in there, but that was the highlight. I like to support a local coffee shop; I miss the coffee houses of the early 90’s! So in that vein, I’m glad they’re able to make it in this Starbucks-drenched world. But they’ve got to step up the customer service game and learn to make/serve a proper espresso. I’ll try again because… small businesses are awesome and I’m addicted to caffeine.

I live in Rochester and rarely go to Ithaca so I ordered beans via their website. I’ve tried numerous major brands(Starbucks, Peet’s, etc and various local roasters) with mediocre results. Tried the Columbia Finca San Luis La Gloria. Fancy name but excellent coffee brewed simply in my iCoffee machine. Highly recommended.

$ 20 for a 12 ounce bag of coffee beans, plus a dollar up charge for asking for my ‘free’ coffee on ice. You should rename the place ‘gimme all your money’ because that’s highway robbery.

I’m a Starbucks fan but this latte was outrageously delicious. Like a fine wine-only coffee!

Someone mentioned this is in a sketchy neighborhood. Maybe it’s because I’m from Brooklyn but if this is a sketchy neighborhood then I’m a little teapot. Great coffee and service, please don’t listen to the wilting flowers who were clutching their coin purses while on the sidewalk and give this place a try.

Very good cappuccino and coffee. A good place to work and keep yourself caffeinated throughout the day. My only complain is that the(free) wifi is a little weak for conducting Skype conversations.

This review is based on one thing and one thing alone: the perfect cappuccino. They nail it every time. It is balanced, rich, and never disappointing.

We stopped here for the first time while waiting to eat dinner down the street after seeing the sign when we were parking. This place has a lot of room if want to hang out or do some work! They have outdoor seating shaded by trees so if it is a hot day you can still be outside. And the best part of all: the stamp cards. Buy 9 drinks, get one free. With, get this: no limitations on your free drink. I have NEVER seen any place below 12 to get a free drink!!! I had a Hazelnut latte and man was it good! The flavor in the beans was very evident unlike Starbucks which tastes like pure chemical sugar. My only complaint was it wasn’t hot enough so next time I was ask for extra hot! I cant wait to come back and try some other stuff. Basically if you are in Ithaca and want coffee you need to go here!

I’m giving this a 2-star rating mainly due to the very sketchy neighborhood. I had tea there and they have only some pastries to choose from. The staff was very friendly.

Coffee was good, and I’m not a huge coffee fan but this was good. I also like the huge amount of plugs for laptops. Wish there were more places like this with the outlets for laptops closer to home where i live.

My absolute favorite coffee shop on Ithaca. Their soy lattes are second to none and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The vegan granola bars are a killer healthy snack. I love coming here to do homework and sip some joe. Also a great pick me up is a red eye! Their espresso is always so good.

Definitely the best coffee in Ithaca, hands down. As for the atmosphere, sometimes the music can get a little too loud for a coffee shop in a college town(ex: playing«Love Shack» VERY loud — I’ve experienced this more than a few times, which seems odd). Live music every Sunday, which can be fun.

I’m here every day. Not just because it’s conveniently located next door to where I work(though I’m sure that factors in), I’m here every day because the coffee is amazing, the baristas are warm and friendly, the baked goodies are great, and I’ve never once been unhappy with my order. They’ve got plenty of work space if you’re there to do that, they have outdoor seating shaded by trees, and the music they play is awesome 90% of the time. And the best part of all: the stamp cards. Buy 9 drinks, get one free. With, get this: no limitations on your free drink. Want a large latte with three extra shots of espresso and some hazlenut syrup? Want it iced? Ok, here it is… FORFREE. Amazing.

Great spot for an espresso lover! They serve single origin espresso(Columbian when I was there) as well as an espresso blend. Nice baristas!

I started hearing about Gimme Coffee before I ever set foot in Ithaca – it is the best place around to get coffee, they said. I’m one to take the advice of locals, and in this case they turned out to be quite accurate. I admit that I haven’t had coffee«everywhere» in Ithaca, but Gimme Coffee is quite excellent. The bean I got was excellent, far surpassing anything I’ve had at Starbucks, Peets, or other chains I’ve visited in the west. I’m not lumping Peets in with Starbucks at all, by the way. The people we met in and around the store were very friendly as well – I’m glad there aren’t stuck-up or hostile attitudes toward new people in town.

Decent espresso and very good sweet treats. The espresso has a molasses tone when done right. Generally, the«latte art» and microfoam are outstanding, however, it varies by location and barista. Recently the barista quality has gone down. Shots are poor and milk foam for espresso drinks watery. Hit or miss.

I don’t drink coffee. I know I’m a mutant; but I happily buy it for other people. Picked up a few scones bacon scallion and cheddar scallion which were delicious. Reportedly the coffee was good too.
