The Jewelbox

My partner and I had a great experience while shopping for wedding bands at the Jewelbox today. We were immediately greeted by Steve, who remembered my name, though I hadn’t been in the store in a couple years. So typical of the staff there. He turned us over to Micky, the owner, who was extremely helpful in answering what we thought were silly questions, and in helping us select just the right bands.
We ended up choosing two slightly different versions of Micky’s original design «wrinkle rings». We loved the design right away, but Micky helped us choose the slightly different designs and materials that looked best on each of our fingers. Without her expertise, we would have just gotten the same ring.
We are so happy with our rings, and really with the whole experience. What more could we want… expert advice without any pressure, and sealing our marriage with an original design ring that you won’t see on every finger.

I can not recommend the designers and staff at the Jewelbox highly enough.
With the help of Mickey Roof (the owner/​main designer) my partner and I ‘designed’ an engagement ring composed of elements of many different rings. Mickey and the staff worked with us to come up with a final ring that had all the design features we wanted, but still was within our budget.
We do not live in Ithaca, but the staff was beyond compare with fast, responsive communication. They helped us solve confusion about what we wanted, and were incredibly helpful with any hiccups along the way.
The finished product was PERFECT: delivered on time, and my partner is completely happy. (as a side note, she gets tons of compliments on the ring)
If you want a one-​of-​a-​kind, incredibly well-​made piece of jewelry to treasure forever, you need not look further than the Jewelbox.

Micky Roof has designed some amazing jewelry for me, including necklaces, earrings, rings and, now, engagement and wedding rings for myself and my fiancé. Her custom designs are extraordinary and she can successfully incorporate my suggestions into the finished piece. She will work with gems that I provide, having acquired them elsewhere, but she will also help you acquire very special gems. Like the others have written, I grew up in Ithaca but moved away a long time ago. I’ve lived in Boston, San Francisco, Manhattan and now Charlotte, NC. I’ve seen jewelery in all of these places and in many other countries. Micky’s designs are truly extraordinary and cannot be found elsewhere.

I grew up in Ithaca and now live in Miami. A couple of years ago, while visiting Ithaca, I stopped in The Jewel Box. I met Sarah and Steve, who were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I was wowed by the original designs of the owner, Micky Roof. Modern, substantial, earthy and organic-​looking describes a good portion of her designs. There are rings, bracelets, pendants all in a very distinctive style. She creates jewelry in both gold and silver, as well as pieces that utilize both. There are other, less earthy designs as well. All her pieces are beautifully crafted. A few years have now passed and I confess to owning far more pieces of Micky Roof jewelry than I should!
The Jewelry Box loves to create jewelry just the way you want it: they gladly help you take an existing Micky design and pick different stones to add your own personal touch. Most recently, they assisted me in refurbishing an antique ring by adding new stones.
Their customer sevIce is impeccable. Every piece I have purchased requires it to be custom made and then shipped to me in Miami. Sarah and Steve have always handled the packing/​shipping without a hitch. There are many fine jewelry stores here in Miami, but when I have a choice I’ll choose The Jewel Box every time. Great people, great designs, great service.

I bought my wife her engagement ring and worked with both Sarah and Mickey to create a unique but elegant ring. They were so helpful and patient through the entire process– which was quite a process given that I was living in California at the time.
I grew up in Ithaca and during a visit back home I started working with Mickey on the ring. Their customer service was incredible! They even sent me photos of the ring while it was being created. Mickey and her staff really embody a unique, locally handmade jeweler.
We also purchased our wedding bands which involved creating a custom band for my wife to match the engagement ring. It turned out beautifully!
