This spot is so much fun. The people are great Mikey the bartender makes a mean drink and one of the regulars, Tania was so welcoming! I busted out a song and the crowd appreciated it. I’ll be back!

Im not much of a queens movie-goer but I was in the neighborhood and met up with a couple of friends. Its a small bar nothing spectacular about it. There aren’t many TV’s and by the looks of the one located in manhattan, its nowhere near as nice. The bartender I believe was the owner and he was very comical. Older gentleman and was definitely entertaining. The wings were really good and the portions are huge I was not able to finish the food. Another plus is they charge your phone for you.

This place is difficult to describe. Strange, entertaining, sometimes relaxed, sometimes rowdy and a good selection of drinks at good prices. The two owners are great and take good care of their clients. And, the food is surprisingly decent(try the ribs)! This place provides a different experience every time I go and it’s never been dull.

I have been to Legends once and they allowed my 13 pound mini poodle inside the premises and it astounded me. There were locals having affordable drinks and some were at the bar, front side watching a game. We were waiting for our brisket and chicken order– it was amazing! The second time, we ordered from seamless and ordered the spare ribs. They ran out of corn on a cob and provided a free beer, curly fries and coleslaw just because they ran out of corn on a cob. We were impressed with their service and the food was delicious. I just ordered from seamless tonight and can’t wait to eat my spare ribs and hopefully they have corn on a cob tonight.

I was honestly hoping for a lot more after reading everyone’s experiences here. I ordered the $ 35 sampler and some beer when I got here. The food had a great rub on everything but some things were bland, and no matter how good the chicken tasted, it was almost rock hard dry in some spots and tender and juicy in other parts which basically made me pick at it and toss most of it. The brisket probably would have been good if I had some condiments to compliment the meat, but there was nothing like a BBQ sauce or something to dress it with. The waitress came over after a while and asked us if we wanted to take the majority of the plate home. I said no. She didn’t looked surprised to hear that, which solidified my doubts about the food. done deal.

Legends is seriously a happy sleeper surprise. On a Sunday, I & friends got to watch the Giants game. We ordered the brisket sandwich. I was prepared for average and it blew me away. I was unexpectedly surprised how good the food was. The bartender was extremely attentive. There were a lot of people and even the ones that did not like my team were enjoyable. The bartender gave a good friend of mine a Giant’s glass to keep. It was really a nice touch after a heartbreaking loss. These people really try and they are class acts. It is a great place to have in the neighborhood!

A little backstory… Legends has changed many times over the past ten years. When my husband and I started going there the food was fantastic and we were diehard fans and we’d be there 2 – 3 times a month. It changed owners and the food was still very good(even if different) but the place didn’t have the same«hang out for hours» appeal. Those owners left and the bar itself took over the back barbecue area and were making mostly bar food and some odd(but perhaps delicious, don’t know) cuisine choices. Legends has a legendary smoker and it was killing us that they weren’t using it. A week or two ago my husband noticed a sign outside that they had the smoker going again so we decided to go last night. A breakdown of our order… 1 lb. brisket — the flavor was good and it was fatty and tender like it should be. It was very thin cut though and I am of the opinion that brisket is best when it’s thicker. Not much of a smokey flavor and seemed to me more like roast beef than brisket. 1 lb. pulled pork — I was not a fan. My husband and our friend liked it. It was cooked well and tender and juicy but lacked smokiness as well and somehow seemed watery. Note — the barbecue sauce was pretty blah. Store bought, completely generic. Pretty disappointing. Buffalo wings — FANTASTIC. I thought to myself as I was eating them that they might be some of the best I’ve had. And my husband and I like our buffalo wings. Very moist and saucy. I would go back just for the wings. Chips and guacamole — not sure if the guacamole was freshly made as I’m not an expert on guacamole. The color seemed a little less green than just-made guacamole would be but there was a lot of onion and cilantro which I love. The chips were not fresh, but I wouldn’t expect them to be. They were fine for what they were even though I, personally, prefer thinner crispier chips. Spinach(side) — It was fine, not worth ordering again. Nothing wrong with it though. Onion rings — Really, really good. Big and freshly fried tasting. Real onion inside(I never understand onion rings that don’t have an actual onion strip inside). Like the buffalo wings, also worth going back for. We will return, I’m sure. We like the bar and the people who own it and even though we haven’t been there in over a year, one of the bartenders came over to us to ask about our meal and offered us a round of free drinks. The waitress, who must be newish, was also perfectly nice. I hope they stick to the good stuff and improve on the BBQ. We’d love this to be our regular hangout again.

I always enjoy coming here. The drinks are cheap and I’m getting food in a few. BBQ is always great. I’m addicted to this place. Good winding down here after a hard day.

Awesome place for sports, my fave sports bar. I have been here for the World Cup in summer and have been to watch American football lately. Both experiences were amazing. My number one choice for watching football in the city.

Come check it on Tuesday nights. They have food specials. The food is great and the customer service is A+. You won’t be disappointed. Have a few drinks while you’re there. The regulars are friendly and the tenders are on point.

Not bbq!!! Oven roasted and rotisserie but not bbq. Very deceiving and caused me to waste time and money. Don’t get me wrong it’s an ok sports bar with an ok staff and two flat screens, but a restaurant it is not. Ribs aren’t that bad but«bbq chicken», pork and«brisket» we disgusting and the sides were worst. Let’s call a spade a spade, it’s a sports bar so if u want beer and wings and fries then go for it but they and everyone else on Unilocal needs to stop referring to their food as BBQ because it definitely is not. Hope this helps. G

my friend wanted to go to this place based on what he ate here a few years ago. so a few of us decided to go here to have some texas roadhouse bbq and watch the football game. when we asked the bartender where the other menu is he said oh its not roadhouse bbq anymore… that should have been our cue to go somewhere else… but we were like you know what we are here why not try it out… the inside had a typical bar atmosphere. i personally did not visit the bathroom but it s a male/female bathroom… so there is a wall on the inside that has a divider between toilet and a urinal… for us girls that is just weird… so basically i held in my bathroom needs until i got back home. … some negatives the bar drinks and food bill had to be paid separately… the food can only be paid in cash… while bar can be done on a card. they do not have an atm in the facility. i ordered a pulled pork sandwich… it came as is… but it did not have that«pulled pork» look… had a lot of fatty parts to it… basic lettuce and tomato on a roll… nothing to special… drinks were in a plastic cup… which it was not a busy afternoon and while sitting eating id prefer glass… plastic is for clubs or a large amount of people… my friend ordered the ribs and said that they were nothing special another friend ordered roasted chicken… and it was more like pan fried chicken the only thing that looked better was the chicken fajitas. next time we will know better.

Okay, so I don’t normally hang out in bars in Jackson Heights despite my living there. I work in Manhattan, have friends in Brooklyn and the boy lives in Astoria. Jackson Heights is pretty much used by me to sleep, eat empanadas, munch on arepas and inhale taco. But one day about a week ago I left work and went straight to my hood, was really craving an ice cold beer on the cheapsies and wanted some me alone time… now mind you I go to a bar alone maybe 2 or 3 times a year, so this occurrence is rare — so after a quick Unilocal search on the app I wandered on inside… I was a bit afraid that I was going to get pounced on by men and for awhile I did feel a bit uncomfortable being the only unaccompanied female in thew bar — but I shook that feeling off because HOLYSMOKESITSMELLSAMAZINGINHERE!!! WAIT?! WHAT!!! THEREIS A TEXASBBQTHINGINTHEBACK!!! DID I DIEANDGOTOHEAVEN??? SMOKY, BRISKET, PULLEDPORKFILLEDHEAVEN??? AYDIOSMIOOOOOOO!!! GIMMIE, GIMMIE, GIMMIE!!! I’M GONNAEATITALL!!! OMNOMNOMNOMNOM!!! NOM!!! Kay. So I came here for a beer and a beer was had — however the friendly couple next to me ordered what looked like a brisket sandwich and they split some meaty, pulled pork filled, cheesy nachos(generous servings too!) and I wanted to make them self-combust so that I could eat there food, I mean it looked and smelled THAT good. Now from the outside this looks like your average dive bar, but whoa man. Any establishment that brings together two of my favorite food groups(*ahem* Beer and BBQ meats) is something I am fully ready to endorse 365 days a year. Gotta come back here soon with my college-aged sister in tow. They don’t card, heh.

The legend is true for Jackson Heights. Texas barbecue exists at the back of Legend’s Bar & Grill. Be warned, it’s a dive people… A true dive where the service is slow, you wonder if anyone is there, and if you’ll ever get your check. Time stands still at Legends. There are no windows so when you walk in the outside world and hour of the day becomes non-existent. The bar boasts 5 large screen state of the art tvs. It’s definitely the place to go on game night whether hockey, basketball, or whatever else sport floats your boat. The clientele is all local, sometimes old, majority men, and diverse. It is not a fancy place but you can get all your top shelf liquor here. I once walked in and they gave my friends and I complimentary shots of a new liquor they were trying out. Toasty! I wanted barbecue for dinner and chose Legends over pizza. «Can you smell that?» I asked the boy. The smoky smell of barbecue permeated the air two blocks up from Legends. «That’s the barbecue,» I confirmed. Walking through Jackson Heights, you can get a variety of smells from Indian to Mexican meat on the grill. Walking on 35th Ave between 73rd and 72nd, I knew I was walking in the right direction of Legends. We sat down and was greeted by the sweetest Hispanic woman. She immediately took a liking to the boy, «Mi amor,» she called him. Me? Chop liver. Actually she warmed up and squealed, «Que linda!» to me. I guess she found my jealousy endearing. Warm reception is what you’ll get at Legends, the rest is history and our waitress disappeared into the night. The food was so so. It was definitely good and loaded with pulled pork. The servings are big here and do not dissapoint. We had pulled pork sliders, nachos, and a side of cornbread. I wanted some sausage but our order alone was enough to feed three people. They misheard us on the nachos as we had wanted chicken with it. Instead they gave us pork. So we had pork on top of pork. Cornbread was moist and cakey. I loved it. One serving is also big enough for two and definitely necessary to help counteract the saltiness of the pulled pork. There is more pork on the sliders than the bread size can handle. So Legends is not a fancy dinner but a solid one for bar food and barbecue cravings in general. I wouldn’t say it’s any better than any of the spots in Manhattan. We all have high hopes for barbecue but really, nothings better than barbecue from the out of state sources itself.
