Leonardo Maciel Salon

I saw Leo today, after years of seeing someone wonderful (but expensive) in Chelsea. I live in Jackson Heights, and so decided it was time to see if there was a stylist locally that could do my cut and color. Leo did a beautiful job on both and I’m very happy. It was half the cost and a few blocks from my home. I will be back!

I refuse to let anyone other than Nestor Despaigne touch my hair. Go to him & you will never regret it.

I went in hoping that they wouldn’t be too busy but it was packed. I still manage to make an appointment at 4. I was seen by Leo I believe and wow all I can say is that my hair looks and feels amazing. I went in for a hair cut and he was very professional and up to date. In the end he put two types of oils in my hair and use a special type of scissors on the ends. I will definitely be going again.

Wasn’t sure I’d be able to get a walk in hair cut because this place was hopping when I got there. They told me five minutes. Within five minutes my hair was washed with a terrific head massage to boot. I was assigned to Beatriz. First question: Espanol or English? Chose English. She asked what I wanted and the receptionist came right over with an iPad and Google images pulled up. I showed them and explained the differences I wanted (less of an angle, a bit longer…) Beatriz looked once and committed! She did the BEST job ever. So happy with the cut. Would go to her again but I’m just visiting the area. Gracias!

BEWARE!!! My hair was severely butchered at this place. I walked in with long layers down to my waist and walked out with an old school hair style — it resembled a rat’s tail!
I explained to the hair stylist that cut my hair that I recently had a baby and didn’t have time to go into the city to see my regular hair stylist and if he could help by given me a trim, following my current layers and style.
He disregard this and did whatever he wanted. I walked out with choppy short pieces of layers on the top of my head and a very long piece at the bottom. I was shocked and beyond disappointed! He saw the disappointment in my face and basically said that the short pieces was to give fullness to my hair and this was done because of «my hair type.» I didn’t ask for this!!!
I immediately made an appointment to see my hairstylist so she can fix the disaster that was done to me. She was beyond disbelief and the only way to fix my hair was to give me a «bob» I haven’t had short hair since I was in grammar school. Even though she was able to give me a stylish modern «bob» it’s not right that I didn’t have a choice. I felt violated!
I just can’t believe there are people out there calling themselves hair stylist and experimenting on people’s hairs.
All I have to say is stay away from this place!!!
If I can give them no stars I would!!!

Leonardo Maciel salon is amazing. I love getting my hair done by Graciela ! She did a fantastic job (as always). The staff are very professional and kind. I had a great experience. Couldn’t ask for any more !!!

My experience here was very satisfying. The atmosphere was so nice and friendly all the staff are easy to communicate with. Got my hair cut and colored by Leo and he is amazing and he really knows what he is doing. I am very picky with where I go do my hair, but this place left me very happy with the results. I will be back here if I need anything else done, cause now I know where to go and who to go to. So happy with my new hairstyle!!!

Edward is gone. :(

Leonardo gave my husband and I a very elegant and modern hair style. He’s just the best in NYC! He knows exactly what goes with your face and what’s in.

I desperately needed a hair trim and blowout for an audition and walked in off the street in a little bit of a panic. They sat me down, and Laura (I believe that was her name, I’m not completely sure because they got right down to business) proceeded to give me the best haircut/​blowout I or possibly anyone has ever had. I don’t speak spanish, but we communicated well enough to figure out exactly what I needed. She finished quickly and gently and then said it was 35 bucks. I looked so shocked she asked me if it was too much (I have never seen a shampoo/​haircut/​blowdry for that cheap ANYWHERE in New York). I told her it was amazing and tipped a ton. Everyone should go here.

Edward is a straight up pro!
I was in the search for a new salon and was very skeptical and nervous. I set up a appointment with Edward the day of and thank god I did, his knowledge of cutting men’s hair was vast as was his communications skills. My girlfriend approved and that’s all that matters to me.

You can call him «Ed» or «Eddie» or «Edward» we call him FABULOUS!!! It is really hard to find a stylist that listens to you and makes it work!!! E is amazing and the salon is filled with an energy that is contagious!!! SO come one Come ALL!!! LMS ROCKS!!!

For mens styles see edward! He’s great! He knows exactly what you want and he also give very good recommendations. The salon itself is also very nice.
I will def be coming back every month for my haircuts!

This place is truly a gem in the heart of Queens! Leo is a master at hair, he’s a pleasure to speak with, his advice is always honest and knows how to work with what you want. I’m very particular about my hair and he knows exactly how to put all your fears to rest. The salon is big, airy and has a great selection of products. No one tries to push you to buy anything which is usually the case at other places. I’m almost hesitant to post this review, Leo is so amazing I want to keep him a secret all for myself, but I just can’t deprive the world of such an amazing artist! Go see Leo, you won’t let anyone else touch your hair afterwards!
