Forget KFC, El Pollito Dorado does chicken right. Okay, so the headliner at Pollito Dorado is, of course, the rotisserie chicken, which is indeed quite good and juicy. But don’t neglect the rest of the menu! Of the entrees I’ve tried, Aji de gallina(chicken and potato in a light yellow chili sauce) and the beef shoulder over rice are my favorites, both delicious and filling. Wash it down with a bottle of cherry soda and I always leave happy. On top of that, instead of giving you bread or chips as a free appetizer, they give you a small bowl of what looks like roasted corn with a side of very spicy green sauce. The corn is lightly salted and very crunchy, like peanuts, and very very addicting! Also, on a side note, even though this restaurant is on Roosevelt, with the 7 train crashing overhead, through the magic of modern insulation(or something) you hardly notice it’s there when you’re inside. Very nice.
