At first everything seemed great. The staff was friendly, the other residents were also being taken care of and seemed as happy as a bunch of cranky Southern Ohioans can be. Then my parents started to notice that an aid, who wasn’t affiliated with my grandma, kept staying in my grandma’s room while my parents would try to have personal conversations. It would take multiple requests for her to leave before she would actually leave. But the real reason for one star review is what happened last month. My grandma died on my birthday during a bad snow storm. My parents were stranded, they are both older and my mother has a bum knee at the moment, and the rest of the family lives almost 4 hours away. During this time the aid that stayed in the room before stayed with my grandma. I am glad someone was with her. What I’m not glad about was the aid decided to help herself to my grandma’s personal property while she was dying. Yep. When my parents called the nursing home after they realized a lot of important items were missing, someone laughed at my mother and said my parents were at fault since they«couldn’t be bothered to come to my grandma’s side.» And there’s nothing they could or would do about it. My 98 year old grandma’s stuff was stolen by an employee and the nursing home laughed about it like it wasn’t a big deal.
