I had been really looking forward to visiting Lou’s for a while, as I have heard a lot of good things about their food. My wife and I had friends in town who wanted to try a great, local restaurant, so we decided to give Lou’s Full-Serv a try. BIGMISTAKE. We arrived shortly before 1PM on a Saturday and were promptly seated and our orders taken(3 of us had burgers, one had the grilled cheese dish from the menu). Our beverages arrived shortly after, but no food in sight. Tables of customers who arrived far after we did were receiving their food, but ours was nowhere to be found. Approximately 40 – 45 minutes after we placed our orders, the waitress came by to tell us that our food was«just getting ready and would be out shortly.» Another 20 minutes passed and we still did not have our food, so we decided to leave. The manager chased us to the parking lot, explaining that it takes around 20 – 25 minutes to cook the burgers(so we had enough time to receive 3!) and that he was terribly sorry. If this is the kind of service that is received on a slow Saturday afternoon, I would hate to see how long it would take when busy.

The food was well cooked and presented wonderfully. Only thing that was lacking was the service. Maybe she is new to the service industry, but she wasn’t very attentive. I’ll definitely go again and see how the service is with waitress. Definitely love the way the place is setup and the likes for the lights. Greatest eye candy was the tikis paper holder in the restroom #2. Haha

My first time today and it was awesome! I had the No. 7 burger(candied bacon, red onions), hold the tomatoes and fries. My buddy had the meatloaf patty melt. Both were outstanding. The portion was huge and the food was excellent. As far as atmosphere, totally cool. Very industrial feel to it, clean and comfortable. Absolutely make a point to try Lou’s!

Want a relaxed end to your evening but have started your night somewhere else? Finish your night at Lou’s with some of the best deserts known to man. Make sure to add their homemade ice cream to one of them — I wouldn’t want you to miss out! Awesome patio area to spend an evening with friends.

The restaurant is very attractive inside; I’d say it’s a modern industrial look. The food was really good. We had the Salmon Dip and the Cuban sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious.

On fleek! I had a great experience at this restaurant! The chef actually came talk to us after the meal. Really had nothing to complain but amazed by his hard work and artistic side. Looking forward to come back again! Keep up good business like this in Jackson!

I have to say this has been one of the better meals I’ve had in the greater Jackson area, and 12 $ for a well plated meal, salad, and Southern sweet tea– I’ve gotta say was a steal. I came on a Thursday and the plate of the day was the Grilled Pork Chop. I got it with their house Caesar. They make their own Caesar dressing which was just ok and the salad was nothing extraordinary either, served on a small plate. The grilled pork chop was slightly over cooked and had a rubbery consistency to it. However the sauce and andouille dirty rice was to die for! I couldn’t get enough of that taste explosion that went off after every bite! If it wasn’t for the rice and the sauce this review would have been put at a 3. The sweet tea wasn’t well blended and was slightly over-sweetened, however wasn’t horrible. The service was pretty good too, the wait staff is pretty attentive and I was seated right away, I came in around 1pm. The place had a good amount of local businessmen and women taking their lunch break here. I would definitely come back here for lunch again.

Love this place. Their burgers are amazing. I love getting the no. 7 with an egg on top. The desserts are on point as well as the fries and onion rings. Love going here for a fun lunch with friends.

Someone just told me Lou’s won the reader choice award for Best Restaurant in Jackson. If true, I am not surprised. This is a really good restaurant, with outstanding food. Lou’s can be a bit difficult to find the first time, and will fill up for lunch and dinner, so best to call ahead. I really enjoy the food here, and frequent this restaurant, especially for lunch. They have specials each day(Monday is red beans and rice with sausage, a personal favorite). They also have burgers and sandwiches, and wonderful desserts. The burgers are great, the roast beef sandwich is to die for, and the salads are outstanding. The service has always been very good. They have a full bar, and you can sit and watch all the food come out of the kitchen… a dangerous thing to do as it all looks wonderful! Good food, good service, and the only problem I have with this restaurant is that I cannot decide what to eat!

Great atmosphere, the logo doesn’t do this place justice. Looks like a café, this is anything but. A rustic, classy and clean restaurant. The place is hidden from the street, turn on the same parking lot as the market. The food is fabulous! Top quality. The«bread-less» crab cakes are a must try. Their salmon and grits are unbelievably wonderful. Enjoyed their gulf shrimp salad, it was very nice, shrimp was cold which was grilled nicely however I would have preferred to have them hot. Was too full to try their desserts. I did see them served, the presentation was impressive. Their service is quick, friendly and efficient. Check out the unique lighting fixtures when you’re there.

Great place! I was a little iffy when I arrived to a super market parking lot(theyre located next to a grocery store) but took a gander inside and it’s a pretty nice place. At 3 pm on a Wednesday afternoon, it was fairly empty besides a couple other diners. I took a seat at the bar and was waited on quickly. I ordered the beef bolognese… the presentation was spotless and the dish was AMAZING! Literally pulled apart beef brisket in the sauce. Definitely recommend. …forgot to mention, the dish was only $ 15!!! I think it was worth ATLEAST $ 20…granted it was on the lunch menu… but it was that great.

My first experience at Lou’s was a pleasant one indeed. I was in search of a spot which had fresh seafood with a southern twist and Lou’s delivered. Our server was a tatted up southern gent who was extremely knowledgable of the menu, ingredients, cooking process, and cocktail menu. Admittedly, I was splattering him with questions about the menu which he answered thoroughly and with a smile. This guy did a fantastic job! I ordered the house salad, bronzed redfish, and blueberry cobbler — splitting the salad and dessert with my coworker. The house salad was a bit underwhelming. It was nothing too special from a flavor perspective, but the ingredients were clearly fresh and didn’t travel too far to arrive on my plate. My recommendation to improve the salad would be to incorporate a sweet pepper and slightly more dressing. Next came the redfish. Holy Moly, Oh Me, Oh My! This plate was awesome. The redfish in combination with the corn hash and buttermilk mashed potatoes were on point. I would highly recommend this dish to anyone. The outer layer of the fish was a crunchy while the inside had a nice moisture and decadence that was unmistakable. Well done! Finally came the blueberry cobbler. If you are a dessert person then you are in the right place. Hand churned ice cream, blueberry base, and cobbler that tastes better than grandmas(ssshhh don’t tell), you must order this to end your experience. Lou’s delivered and I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Jackson area. Delicious!

I am updating my previous review to put a 5 star rating up. All of the food is truly five stars and they have the BEST dessert menu in the city. Lou’s has done it. They have proven themselves an excellent restaurant. My previous concern was that they sometimes had prices a little steep, and their cocktail menu was not that great. Those concerns remain, but my real focus is on the five star food and the five star experience you are going to have there. Lou’s is an AMAZING little neighborhood restaurant. You could call it creative New Southern. The menu is comprehensive and has something for everyone. If you have a choice on the sides, try the(Anti) Caesar Salad — they do a good job with that. They change up the menu every now and then, which I like. You can always have your favorites, but there will be something new for you to try too. I still highly recommend the salmon dip for an appetizer. I have not had any food not worthy of the five star rating, so dive in! Service is excellent. I have had better service in Jackson, but it is consistently great here at Lou’s. I have never had a reason to complain about it. As I pointed out before, the atmosphere is great, with the décor just avoiding being too kitschy. The location is convenient, as I pointed out in my previous review. Easily walkable from most of the neighborhood, convenient to Fortification and State street(therefore the interstate and Downtown) and they share a parking lot with the McDades grocery store, so you shouldn’t have trouble parking(except weekday lunch, as this and McDades are two of the busiest lunch places in town!). They, hands down, have the best dessert menu in the city. The s’mores brownie is amazing but i think the Tiramisu really takes the prize. It is not too sweet, but is topped with a home made praline that lets you add just as much sweetness as you like! You must try it. If you’re not into Tiramisu, get the s’mores brownie, or the cobbler, or the trifle, or the crème brûlée. I don’t really care what you get as long as you try some of their amazing dessert! The downsides, as I have pointed out, are just dinner prices and the cocktail menu. Their cocktails pale in comparison to the Manship just three blocks away, but they will do in a pinch. They are also generous servings, so that helps. MUSTHAVEDISHESINJACKSON — Onion rings. They’ve really nailed it. They are consistently good, just enough crispy batter and a perfectly cooked onion. They list it as a snack, but you can also get it as a side if one comes with your dish. This one was actually really tough for me. Their entrée’s are all very good, but it is hard to pick just one, and as well, that can be subjective. They have the best dessert menu in the city, but Char has the single best dessert in the city, which just outshines. The onion rings, however, nail it.

Wow, did this place have our number. - First, the food was phenomenal. Second, the décor had both old-school qualities(wood, steam-punk lighting) along with sleek modernism. Third, did I mention the food? - I was kinda hungry but not super hungry. I ate like a pig here. - We saddled up to the bar for a late lunch. The place has this clean yet retro vibe to it. The bar has old wooden elements to it — an old post office window behind the liquors, etc — but a hip feel. I ordered the Bolognese and it floored me! I ate the whole darn thing and it was worth every belly ache afterwards!!! So good! - I talked to the owner/manager for a bit, which was nice. He really cares about the place, and it shows. - You HAVE to go here if you live in the area. It’s a MUST!!!

Decent all around. We went here at 11:30AM for lunch on a weekday. We were promptly seated because it wasn’t too crowded. I ordered the plate lunch special, which was pork chop that day. The server was nice. The only issue we had was it took nearly an hour to get our food after we ordered. We ordered before a few parties who ended up getting their food first. So, I’m not sure if our server just didn’t put our order in or if there was an issue in the kitchen. The food was great, so of course we scarfed it down. Will give this place another try soon.

My first stop while visiting in Jackson — and it was a homerun! I just shared a couple of plates — but both of them were great! The salmon dip was probably my favorite of the two. Two scoops of salmon dip and strips of crispy bread. The dip was great — I can’t put my finger on what all it had in it, but it was delicious. Not too fishy. With a hard boiled egg on top! The mushroom toasts were also delicious. They were a little messy to eat, but super tasty. They had a nice sauce on them, cheese and mushrooms over a thick cut toast(crunchy). Also had a cocktail — Can’t remember the name right now but, it was sweet and snuck up on you. I didn’t taste the alcohol at all, but I felt it a while later. Also got a local beer from Lucky City! Crisp and refreshing. Pretty good beer selection. The service was great! I didn’t get our servers name but he was awesome. Checked in on us from time to time, always smiling… super nice and personable. Overall, a great experience. I’m going to try and come back to try one of the full dishes soon.

OK, the time has finally come that Jackson Chef Louis Larose has his own restaurant. As some of you that follow my reviews know, I got to know Lou when he was at the end of his 10-year run with Bravo! as the executive chef. From there, he helped Derek Emerson start Local 463. He left Local 463 and spent time as the Chef at the MS Museum of Art. Now, he has his own place in Jackson and it is every bit as cool as I thought it would be! Lou is just a damn good cook. He knows what to do with food, how to present it and how to make it taste GOOD! There has been a recent surge of new places in Jackson. Some are good, some, not so much. It seems there is a big emphasis on making the menus«edgy» and the vibe in the restaurant equally«edgy» or «trendy» but the portions are small and the plates are expensive and the food is just«ok» Enter Lou’s Full-Serv…stage left. Located on the south edge of Belhaven, this place sports a one-of-a-kind menu and feel. My family rolled in there last night in T-Shirt’s and shorts and had a fabulous meal of Shrimp, Salmon, Pork Chops and Cheeseburgers. The feel of the place is comfortable with top-notch food. Menu items range from $ 15 – 35 at night. They have 6 local brews on tap and a BIG patio. I can’t wait to try it all. This place lands square into my top Jackson Hamburger list as well as my top Jackson fine dining lists. Go, you will love it.
