MacPhail’s Burgers

Flew in from Los Angeles, checked into the hotel and was craving a burger. Service was great. Were greeted upon entering the door and promptly seated. The owner informed us of the freshly ground meat, buns that are delivered fresh everyday and the tasty milk shakes. I had the small meal buffalo burger with cheese (¹⁄₃ party is not small) with half and half fries. Husband had the classic cheeseburger with applewood bacon. These are real sweet potato fries… not the bright orange (aka yams) that are normally served.
Loved the carafe of various gold fish to munch on too! Not necessary since its a lot of good but I nice touch.

GREAT service, delicious burger, sweet potato fries, and salad! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience dining out. I had the pleasure of my server being the owner. He was incredibly nice and welcoming. I will be back again next time we are in Jackson. This is a must stop location!

Awesome! The burgers are out of this world. I had a beef cheeseburger and my husband had a buffalo cheese burger. They were wonderful! Great fresh made buns and fries. Great family business. Can’t wait to go back.

The owners are freaking awesome. They are the ones that make this place feel some homely and I would definitely bring my whole family here. Service is outstanding and extremely courteous. The ingredients are excellent and you can tell they pay attention to details. You get a heaping portion of fries and the burgers are large portions.
My only reason that I did not give it a 5 star rating is as follows. I prefer my fries to be crispy. Don’t get me wrong, they tasted great but a little soggy for my taste. Also, the burger tasted good, but I preferred the patty to be seasoned more. The Angus beef was great quality but everyone has their preferences.
Overall, I had a great experience and would still recommend this place to anyone.

Not just best burger in Jackson, but rated top 10 burger joints in the country… which I think is unfair, because its easily in top 5 in the country. Have been to a lot of burger joints in my life, when you stack up the burger, the fries, the atmosphere, Macphails is in a class of it own. Props to Bruce for this fine establishment

Good burgers and chicken sandwich. Sweet potato fries were also a hit. Great vanilla milkshake. Owners were extremely nice. As with all the local restaurants it was a little pricey

Best buffalo burgers Iv ever had! The service was the friendliest and the recommendations were on point. When the milkshake is recommended, make a special trip back for it. The only complaint is it was too good and I ate too much! The reason to come back to Wyoming is MacPhails!

Where to start? I would say the food is a 4 and the hospitality makes it a 5! We ordered a All Jacked up and a Philly cheesesteak. The burger comes recommended between medium and medium well. The meat was delicious. Bread to meat ratio was perfect. The plate comes with a large size portion of regular, sweet potato or a little of both. We had a mix. The plate also comes with a good size crunchy pickle. The potatoes were legit idaho potatoes and tasty. The Philly was ok. Bit on the oily side, but meat and cheese were good. I also ordered a vanilla/​chocolate milkshake. The owner had made plenty extra! The shake was a good consistency, too.
As for the service that added the 5 star… amazing. Bruce, the owner was super friendly. He gave us a full rundown of the menu. Checked on us plenty of times, made sure our drinks were filled, and if we needed anything else. He was very knowledgeable of the area and Jackson Hole resort. Gave us great advice and introduced us to a neat Jackson Hole app that tracks your runs and other neat features.
Overall, I would definitely return to try another burger and would definitely catch a run at Jackson Hole with him.

McPhails is cozy and inviting. Great, attentive service. Great and flavorfull cheese burger and an excellent mix of (and maybe too many!) fries — both sweet and regular potatoe. the pickles just landed from outer space– excellent as well. i had the veggie burgrr — peppers and mushrooms/​olives/​cukes/​onions/​lettuce and tomato on a delicious whole grain ciabatta bun so if beef, buffalo and chicken don’t sound good today — you will enjoy yummy vegetables instead.

We were looking for a good burger place. Instead we found a great one! The hotel suggested a place, but with a few clicks we found out it was a chain restaurant. We were looking more for that mom and pop independent place. A few clicks more and we found MacPhail’s.
I ordered the mushroom angus and mixed fries. My hubby had the bison burger and mixed fries. The burgers were cooked to order and perfect. The rest of the plate was piled high with fresh cut perfectly cooked sweet potato and regular fries.
We chose to sit at the bar and the staff was very attentive. Anyone who walked past filled our drinks and made sure we loved our meals. We even listened as the full vegetarian options were explained to a customer!
I would suggest this as a not to be missed meal in Jackson!

This family owned restaurant is worthy of the TOP 10 BURGER Establishments rating in the country by Trip Advisor!
The quality of the beef, buns and all ingredients, as well as the detail and follow up by the staff make for a delicious and outstanding dinning experience.
I look forward to my next trip to Jackson, and having the opportunity to visit multiple times, and further experience the balance of the menu. Everything looked great.

This is indeed a 5 star burger. Way too huge, with freshly ground meat cooked to perfection, even half of my juicy ¹⁄₃ pound burger ended up in a to go box. Mr B’s ½ pounder met a similar fate.
But you guys are really mean. I am referring to your addictive fries, both yam and potato. I had sworn off fries until now. It’s a good thing I do not live close or I would be going regularly to Fries Anon meetings.
And I don’t even want to mention, but I will, the fact that these guys make beautiful shakes, and give you a huge filled glass as well as the remainder in the blender container. or maybe you are a root beer float aficionado? Yup, they do them here.
Our server was excellent. Thanks Steven for your attentiveness and tips on how to circumvent downtown Jackson on our way out. It was an adventure that simply added to an already delightful visit and meal. (For the curious, ask a local about the Moose — Wilson backroad.)

The best hamburger of my life!!!
High quality juicy meat (both bison and beef were amazing and with tons of flavor), really good fries without being too greasy, the sweet potato fried were super delicious (instead of orange thet are white, and really sweet), very friendly staff… and not expensive.
Come hungry, because the portions are HUGE (and I really mean it), both the hamburger and the chips are really big, it was good for me since that day I came with huge hunger after a full day in Yellowstone :).
If I lived in Jackson I would go every week!

Family owned and it shows! The son wasn’t feeling well from not eating all day and needed something fast. His side salad was delivered as he ordered in a minute!
Burgers taste great, charbroiled and juicy. They cook burgers on the more rare side of medium, so don’t be afraid to ask for less pink. Grass fed, hand ground and tasty!
The side salads are huge!

Great local joint to visit. Stopped in here very hungry for a beefy burger.
I ordered the Angus beef burger and it was outstanding. Fries are so fresh and home-​made tasting.
The Owner was amazing– he heard we were traveling in from LA and took time to write us out a whole plan on a map! He was so kind and a wealth of knowledge.

The ambiance of the restaurant is outstanding — both inside and outside. Brilliant service — they really serve you well and come around to check on you several times throughout your meal. There’s complimentary goldfish crackers and peanuts which is always a plus. :)
Buffalo burgers are unique, so juicy and reasonably priced. The sweet potato fries are a MUST TRY! All ingredients are so fresh and well cooked.

I always appreciate a well run family business and MacPhail’s is just that. The place was very well put together and taken care of. After the owner gave the entire run down of how they operate I chose the classic cheeseburger with a chocolate shake and sweet potato fries (not the yam fries others serve).
There is no way anyone should leave here and not feel they got their money’s worth. The burger was well made and tasted nice and the fries were as advertised. It is hard to do sweet potato fries right but they succeeded. As for the shake, I got more than I needed. Next time, I’d leave off the shake so I have enough room for everything else.
All said, it is worth the extra effort to go down the street and hit up MacPhails.

My mom had found this place through (I think) a TripAdvisor search and we were all stoked to try something that came so hyped!
The food was good — large portion with more than a healthy handful of fries (no really, the sheer amount of fries you get could feed an army). The burgers were great.
In my opinion the food was a little overpriced (I know I know, it’s local ingredients, Angus beef, fresh cut Idaho fries, etc etc) but I think the high prices in Jackson in general surprised me, so maybe I shouldn’t be blaming the restaurant when it’s a city-​wide inflation issue.
To me it just seemed a little over-​hyped, but it is certainly worth a stop if you are the area nonetheless!
Love that the place is family owned and run!
