LOL! Out of business in less than 6 months. I guess I wasn’t the only one who thought they sucked, big time!

I logged into Unilocal while waiting for my food at this restaurant and I was shocked at how low the review was. My hubby and I have eaten here several times and everytime we have thoroughly enjoyed our food. I usually go with a BLT or a burger but the hubby goes with something more adventurous like fish and chips or tri tip sandwiches. I have never had a better burger and there thin crispy fries are delicious!!! My hubby raved about the fish and chips with a side of clam chowder for a week. The regular waitress is so sweet and even when it’s busy she always makes sure your drink is full. There may be a slightly longer wait on food if they are busy but they cook everything fresh and well worth the wait. Stop in next time your in Jackson and give it a try. Oh also parking is usually free out front of the café :)

They have the best clam chowder I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The fish and chips it came with were very good and flaky fried to perfection. The fries are the best and service is very prompt and personable. If you like a place to feel good and eat good this is the spot.

Sorry about the one star, because I haven’t eaten at The Main St. Café, and probably won’t until they wash their windows. Hand scratched, sketchy writing on a perfectly good widow makes me think things inside may be sketchy, too. It may be an unfair judgement, but clean tidy windows hint of a clean tidy interior and hopefully good food, too. So, clean your windows that have had Best Burger In Town on them for months, put a professionally painted sign on the street to attract patrons, and you’ll see more business. Good luck.

CLOSED. Not too surprisingly, we noticed that this is now a different café with a different name. We too were disappointed in this place. We went here on Mother’s Day as our regular spot down the road(Thomi’s) was packed. We were met by a young waiter right away and directed to a table. We were given our drinks in a reasonable time and then our order was taken. As is my habit with a new place, I glanced at my watch when he left to place our order. It took approximately 18 minutes to get our appetizer and 30 minutes for our main order, a hamburger and chef salad. The burger was dry and rather tasteless as though there were zero seasoning, not even salt. My wife said her salad was OK, no hardboiled egg, and nothing you couldn’t whip up at home in about 5 minutes. No one came back to check on our food during the meal until the owner came by when we were almost finished. We told her everything was fine because we just wanted to leave. She asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks which were now nearly empty. She indicated she would send someone by to refill them. We saw no one until the waiter brought the check by without asking about a refill. This place needs to tighten up considerably before I would even think of going back. The best burgers in town? Try Thomi’s or Mel’s down the street.

Bland food, rude service, let’s hope they close soon and something good opens because it’s a really pretty indoor spanish courtyard with a great window for people watching. I ordered the«classic club» sandwich since it was on the special. I saw it on the board outside but wanted to confirm that by asking the waiter the specials. He didn’t know them. The sandwich was not«classic» as it had an extra piece of bread in the middle. It was bland and I ended up putting ranch on it because the extra piece of bread made it so dry. Boyfriend ordered the western cheeseburger that claimed to be the«best burgers in town». I don’t know who they cite as giving them that title, but it’s some seriously bad advertising. His burger was so bland he didn’t finish it and told the waiter. The table next to us complained to the waiter about their burger too. The manager came out and asked what the problem was in an accusatory voice. My boyfriend calmly explained that it tasted like the burger hadn’t even been seasoned. The manager rudely interrupted serveral times with unrelated factoids. «We use a 7oz patty, seasoned, with homemade bbq sauce». That’s great, I’m not telling you what you did in the kitchen, I’m telling you how the finished product tasted. She was similarly rude to the other table interjecting with«the mushroom swiss burger should’ve had 7 slices of ‘porta-bellas’». They were like«well we didn’t count them but it didn’t taste like anything». She said this was the first complaint since they opened in June. Which I now see by reading the other reviews(which I should have done before we went!) that this was not the first complaint and she didn’t handle that one well either. On a possibly related note, I didn’t make it all the way home before I was sick in the bathroom at the local hardware store. Boyfriend was lucky enough to make it all the way home before he was ill.

This place claims they have the«best burgers in town», though after sampling the fare, it was clear they don’t understand hamburgery. When trying a new place, I always ask for a recommendation. The waiter recommended either the Bacon burger, or the Western Bacon BBQ burger. I tried the later and was stunned by how bland it was. It looked good, it wasn’t missing anything, it was juicy and cooked properly, but it had absolutely no flavor. All I tasted was ground beef. The secondary flavor was bun. I have no idea how they pulled this off. It has bacon and BBQ sauce, how am I not tasting it over the bun and meat? Assuming I used all the same ingredients, I don’t think I could reproduce such a bland burger if I tried. I only managed to eat half of it before my stomach was so full of dissapointment, I resigned myself to munching on the fries and bumming a bite of my girlfriends equally bland classic club. I did complain, though my complaints were met with a defensive tone as if there were something wrong with me. The lady said she never got any complaints. I suppose her customers just politely lied and didn’t bother to return, considering it was dead on an early Sunday afternoon. My complaint did prompt a neighboring table to voice their dismay, echoing the same sentiment I did. Bland burger. «Needs more jazz» she said.

Some delicious home cooked food(sans freezer) and at a reasonable price. While you might have to wait a tiny bit longer for your food, it is well worth the wait. Dishes made from scratch are far superior to tasting a restaurant’s freezer burn on your food(however the chili was canned, so if you’re not a fan I would avoid anything with chili and the meatball sandwich). It’s refreshing that they are open on Sunday when so many restaurants in the county close up shop on Sundays and Mondays. I recommend this restaurant for its fresh sandwiches and charming atmosphere.
