So very disappointed. At one time this used to be an awesome place. We waited almost 30 mins for our food and then when we got it, there was 2 tiny pieces of fish. About 2 bites worth. All for $ 9.99. Never again!

Pelican’s Roost has great fish and chips, and even better are the Bento boxes… but the best of all is the Tempura Zucchini and Mushrooms! We always get them as an appetizer or as one of the options in a Bento box. Very nice and sweet owners and hostess/waitress. The prices are great; Bento box under $ 10, fish and chips under $ 10, Tempura Zucchini appetizer under $ 5.

If you are jonesing for some fried fish, this is the place to go. You can either get it American style with fried potatoes, or in a bento box with rice and salad. I had the bento box which gives you two choices from the menu. I had the fish and the mushrooms. Everything was nice and fresh, crispy, not greasy at all and good sized portions. Just enough to satisfy without the need for a take home container. The people who run the place are very nice and eager to please. I would give them 5 stars, but the décor is strip mall shabby chic and they play old cheesy pop music. However, the food is worth it. Can’t wait to go back there!

I love it too, and though it’s far from perfect like just about everything else, it’s the only place in Amador County that specializes in fish. Lack of fresh fish is for us an awful deprivation. If you like fried fish, you’ll probably love the food here, and you can get it American style with potatoes(baked in the evening) but can also get bento boxes which are very good. You pick two items to go with the rice and salad and my favorites are with fish and calamari or shrimp. It’s reasonably priced and run by a lovely couple who are anxious to please. We’ve been there dozens of times over the years, and have tried about everything on the menu. It’s consistent and most of the food there, delicious. I wish it wasn’t all fried, but at least it’s seafood.

We went here because the Urbanspoon app gave it pretty high ratings. We had shrimp cocktails, beer battered zucchini and drinks The server was very friendly and attentive however the tiny bay shrimp were either re-hydrated or had freezer burn, as they had an odd, mealy texture. The zucchini was pretty good but the portion was on the small side(7 or 8 thin slices) I would give this place one more try but next time order a dinner before I make my final decision.
