I know I have heard rave reviews from other people in Jackson so maybe they were having an off day? When I went there with my husband, we both ordered the coney dogs and fries with pops. The fries are cold and not crispy at all, the coney was okay but have had better elsewhere. And to top it all off, the waitress spent so much time chatting up what I am guessing are regulars, she only came by to check on us once before she brought the check. Which okay fine but when she did, she had a glass of coke in her hand and to fill up our glasses she poured half of that glass into each of our glasses. Maybe others don’t mind it but I will say I found that very irritating and weird. I never had a waitress do that before to refill our glasses. It took awhile for us to get our check also and they were not busy by that time. They came recommended from a coworker so we tried them the once and never went back.

We went to roosters on a Saturday around 3:30 it wasn’t very busy but the waitress was still extremely slow to come and take our order and then when she brought the dinner salad there was no cheese on the salad the tomato was moldy and then it took us even longer to get her attention to come and remove the salad and change our order to french fries she then did not bother to comp are french fries because the salad was moldy overcharged us on our receipt for the salad when french fries are clearly cheaper and did not know how to change it in the in their system I’m not impressed and would not go back

This is an excellent little place, nothing fancy. Great food, excellent portion sizes, good service!!! Excellent for any meal. Breakfast served all day. Recommend the meat lovers omelette or the western omelette. Friday night All You Can Eat fish fry is great for hungry teen boys. The Rooster Grilled Chicken Pita is exceptional.

I tried the gyros this time. I was not disappointed. They bring out the pita separate from the ingredients so you can assemble it the way you want it. My kid got the coney special and liked it. The waitress did an excellent job.

Good food at very good prices. Service is Fast and friendly. Had one of their specials yesterday, scalloped potatoes and ham. Unfortunately it was rather disappointing. It was sliced fried potatoes with chopped ham on top of it. No onions no sauce really not scalloped potatoes. First disappointing at roosters. I will be back.

Pretty good food, mostly homemade, at very good prices. Service was fast and very friendly. My husband & I did the Friday night all-you-can-eat fish fry for $ 9.99, came with coleslaw, fries, roll & a drink! I couldn’t eat more than the three pieces of fish that came with the meal, and he could only eat one more piece. Our son got the kids spaghetti, a huge portion, and he ate it all up, loved it!

SUMMARY: This will be a definite ‘go to’ place. Food Quality: 4 of 5 Service: 5 of 5 Quantity: 4 of 5 Value: 5 of 5 Expectations: Exceeded DETAIL: i.e. the really long version. I just discovered this place a couple of days ago, on the advice of my 15 year old son of all things, and I have already been back a 2nd time. The first time was for lunch on the last day of school, so it was my son and I. We arrived at about half past noon, and the place was hopping. There were only 2 open tables, and we managed to snag one(it’s ‘seat yourself’). The waitress soon arrived with menus and a friendly greeting. She immediately took our drink order(Coke products) and was back in a flash with them. Service was very good even though they were packed. I ordered the gyro with a side of fries, and my son ordered the Rooster burger. The gyro was large and tasty. The lamb/beef meat consisted of the preformed patties that are pretty much standard for a place that doesn’t specialize in Greek food, but they were fine. The pita was soft and fresh. The tzatziki sauce tasted fresh and was served on the side which is how I prefer it, although I could have used more than was in the small plastic cup; next time I’d ask for extra. My son’s Rooster burger looked amazing, and he said it was great, although I don’t know how he even tasted it considering how fast he wolfed it down. It was all built upon an oversized seeded bun and had 2 patties, 2 slices of cheese, 2 large and thick tomato slices and leaf lettuce. The kicker for me was the bacon. Most restaurants add a couple of limp pieces in an ‘X’ and call it good. The Rooster had a mound of crispy bacon! Given the quality and quantity for the price that we experienced in our 1st visit, I was eager to go back to try the breakfast menu, which is served all day long. This time my wife accompanied me and my son, and we arrived there at about 9:30 on a Monday morning. Once again Rooster’s was packed with only a couple of booths open, and once again, the service was great. Coffee was promptly served and kept topped off throughout our meal. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which is the standard I use to rate any restaurant that serves breakfast. I am happy to state that the quality was very good. The biscuits were fresh and fluffy in the middle. The gravy possessed the ever so important creaminess and proper thickness that can make or break a gravy. The ratio of flour and milk was appropriate, in other words, it didn’t have the nasty flavor of unincorporated flour that I’ve experienced too many times. It had an above average level of spiciness, of which I approve, that is absent from too many gravy recipes that try to be all things to all people — bland in other words. If I were to change one thing it would be the sausage. It appeared to be diced patties instead of a ground sausage. Though the flavor of the sausage was good, the texture was different than I’m used to and I’d prefer something different. [Note to the chef: I suggest the ground breakfast sausage at the A&A Meat Market. Very flavorful and a surprisingly small amount of grease for a pork sausage. Also, it’s only $ 1.89/lb. I don’t if restaurants can get a better price or not.] My wife ordered her standard; eggs, hash browns with onions, ham and toast. Everything arrived to the table as ordered(eggs over medium, onions added to the potatoes). Most importantly to her, a large slice of good quality ham adorned the plate. She said everything tasted great. My son went for the pancakes along with a side of hash browns. Three huge pancakes filled the plate. With the size of those things, I don’t know how he managed to introduce his stomach to the generous side of hash browns, but he did it. «It was great!», summarized his experience. We’ve managed to sample Rooster’s breakfast and lunch menu so the dinner menu is next on the agenda. I’m pretty sure I’m going to try the New York strip. It’s an 8oz steak with your choice of soup or salad and your choice of potato. I believe the price is in the neighborhood of 8 and a half bucks. You can’t even get a sirloin for that price at most places. Can’t wait!

Rude service lately. Food quality and preparation has gone down hill fast. Done with roosters for good. Nasty sliced(not diced) onions on my last gyro. Question for roosters: How hard is to put a pickle spear in a to go box?

We have gone for dinner twice now and were very impressed. The chicken parm was 5 stars. Absolutely the best chicken parm we have had at a restaurant. It was made fresh with a chicken breast(definitely not frozen or deep fried). A thick layer of baked cheese was on top with delicious meat sauce over the whole thing. Amazingly good chicken parm, especially since it isn’t an Italian restaurant. We also got the fish and chips which were also good and came with lots of fish though which was great. I would give the fish 4 stars. The meals came with soup too. The potato soup was homemade and quite good(4 stars). The chicken noodle soup was okay(2 stars). Next time we went we got the Roosters Breakfast or something like that which was piles of delicious breakfast food. Also 5 stars. The hot beef sandwich was also very good(4 stars). Prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. Definitely a place we will continue to go to.

The picture of the coneys on this page shows what you get. That’s not a coney that’s a chili dog. I don’t like what they call a coney because I prefer authentic Jackson ones. That being said this is a cozy little spot that has decent food. They run a lot of homeade specials like goulash, meatloaf, etc… It’s not bad and I’ve ate there a few times. Breakfast is good too. Service has always been good for me and their prices are very reasonable.

I go here all the time. The staff is great & many of the servers know me by now, half the time they ask if im getting my usual. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Love this place & will continue to go all the time. Not expensive, & very large portions.

When this place first opened I thought it wouldn’t do well with all the other coney places in Jackson. But it has survived. I had heard good things about it so one night while my daughter was at the movies I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m glad I did and I’m glad It survived. It is centrally located near the crossing mall and the movie theatres and is off West avenue and not far from I 94. There are about 30 booths and tables and it is well lit, cozy, and very clean. It was very busy but I waited less than five minutes to get a table. The server was very friendly and brought my soda and my menu right away even though she was hurried. They have a full menu including dinners and breakfast. I ordered a hamburger, fries, two coneys. It came out very fast and hot. I ate the burger first and it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. One of the best I’ve ate in a long time. The coneys aren’t like the the typical Jackson coneys so I didn’t think if like them. But the sauce surprised me. Very delicious and tasty. And they use Koegel hot dogs. The fries were good, nothing special, typical fries. But the rest was great. I got all this food including drink for $ 10. And it filled me up! I had to take a coney and some fries home. I can’t wait to go back.

A nice place for breakfast and lunch in Jackson. They have an extensive menu from breakfast, coney dogs, sandwiches, and gyro’s. This is a place that the locals go. Lo prices, good food, and large portions.
