This is a great little spot downtown to read a book, eat lunch, or just chill out. The park is small, but located centrally downtown– walking distance from lots of great eats like La Finestra, Basil’s and Kiefer’s. In the park, you’ll find lots of grassy patches and trees providing plenty of shade. There are plenty of benches as well as little tables you can sit at with a friend. There’s a big gazebo you could post up in with a big group of friends or coworkers. There’s a large stage, and from time to time festivals and shows are hosted in Smith Park. There are water fountains in the park. At night, the park can get a bit sketchy but most of Downtown is empty at night anyway which is a bummer. During the day, this really is a lovely place to meet up with friends and share a picnic or just sit and enjoy the sunshine. I only wish there was bike parking inside the park!
