Avoid. Dirty table tops, waitress dropped my toast on the counter when bringing the food, looked at me, said sorry, then picked it up and placed it back on top of the rest of my food. Frozen vegetables in the omelette and boiled home fries. I didn’t even finish eating. They seem to have local regulars so there’s little incentive to impress new ones. I definitely won’t go back.

Good food, fast and friendly. The Rocco’s run a nice clean place with large portions and a wide variety. I had the old standby, eggs Benedict with home fries. The English muffin is big, no skimping on the hollandaise and actual Canadian bacon! Done right! Definitely coming back!

Such a great local diner… Immaculate, friendly, warm staff. Stopped in for breakfast, ordered a spinach and feta omelette, which was fresh and delicious. Regrettably, I neglected to take a picture to post. It was the best omelette because it was perfectly prepared and stuffed with a ton of spinach and the perfect amount of feta. I very pleasant experience and I plan to make repeat visits.

I went here for lunch last week and I was very disappointed. I had a hotroast beef platter. The roast beef was the worst I have had. It was thin sliced and dried up, notl like a real roast beef sandwich.

The food is awesome. Atmosphere is great too, it’s a cute little luncheonette with a cozy feel. The only reason i gave 4 rather than 5 is because it was a bit of a wait, and service was a little slow. But varies, and the delicious food was worth it! Their gravy is delish too!

This place is my one of my favorite breakfast places in jackson. Service is great/fast. Everything is always cooked to perfection I really don’t see why this place got bad reviews because they always cook everything great! Look forward to going back throughout the years!

Do I have to give this one star? Really? Went in for breakfast over the weekend and ordered softly scrambled eggs, which came out way over cooked; breakfast potatoes, which were burnt and cold and the biscuit and gravy special, the gravy tasted like flour and the biscuit was way over cooked. Really disappointed as I’ve only found one other diner in the area I really like. I was hoping to add this place as a go to restaurant, but there is absolutely no chance I’ll go back. If only one item was off, I’d give it another chance, but EVERYTHING was bad.

Having had occasion to eat breakfast here several times recently, I have to either disagree with many of these reviews, or deduce that something has changed for the better. I eat pretty much the same thing every morning: 3 eggs sunny, homefries, sausage, and white toast. In all instances, everything was cooked perfectly, though the sausages were of the small and skinny type, which aren’t my favorite. Also, I found it to be very inexpensive compared to the same meal at other diners, so I genuinely don’t understand the complaint registered by another reviewer on that subject. How can you expect breakfast for four to be $ 25? At most places, that’s breakfast for two. At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed my quiet morning meals at The Mug Rack, and will assuredly return when I am in the area. The servers were friendly and attentive, the food was quickly brought to the table(booth, really), and prepared perfectly. There really is nothing more one can ask.

Walked in and say at the bar and was completely ignored for 12 minutes. I walked out

We live nearby and have been to the Mug Rack twice — once for breakfast and had dinner there tonight. During both visits the service was extremely fast and the wait staff were friendly and outgoing. Breakfast portions are huge and you get the home cooking you come to expect at a NJ diner. My family had a variety of dishes for dinner. Fish and Chips were excellent and so were the hot open face turkey sandwiches. The red skin mashed potatoes were also a hit. I definitely recommend this place to families in the Jackson area.

HORRIBLE Experience. Read these reviews people, I should have. both my husband and I ordered their ‘fresh’ made burgers. He watched the person in the kitchen take them out of the freezer… so much for fresh. We also ordered mayonnaise on the side, his had large pieces of black specs of something mixed in, was not pepper, larger than that. Mine had a 3″ piece of what I thought was a WORM. I almost lost my burger there and then. Turns out it was probably an onion, a 3″ piece of onion, in a small tub of mayo that probably only holds about a tablespoon of mayo total. I told the non interested waitress and she just holds out a napkin to me to say, «Ill show it to the cook», that was it… The burgers were salt, not cooked to order, we both ordered medium, his was red inside, and mine dark. where was the medium. Also when I ordered another mayo the waitress did not take the old one, and when she dumped the new mayo by my plate it was yellow… YESYELLOWMAYO, WTF. Sitting here now even reliving this lunch, I want to call the Health Department. Does the owner not even care about all of these horrible reviews. Clean up your restaurant. A worker from the back came out holding silverware by the tines, top edge, you know the edge that goes into your mouth, that should be sanitary, and proceeds to put them with the clean silverware. This is a Non Caring restaurant, that is relying on its old crowd of regulars to keep up their business, but has NOCARE for new customers.

We went here for breakfast and were immediately seated. I had the usual 2 eggs over easy with English muffin and thought it was good. Hubs had blueberry pancake and thought it was ok but the blueberries had a funny after taste because it was frozen blueberries. Daughter had the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap and thought it was good. Service was VERY slow. The food took forever to come out. We thought they forgot us for a while there. The table in back of us changed twice by the time we got our meal and finished it. Place is a lot cleaner than the other place, though. A big improvement than the previous diner since they took over as well.

I have had breakfast and lunch. Both times the food was mediocre. The last time I ate there I had a cheeseburger deluxe, the fries were good, but the burger was very salty and was falling apart in the middle. For breakfast I had an omelet with home fries. The home fries had some kind of seasoning that I didn’t like. The service for lunch was not great. Young waitresses texting, you can hear all the conversations they are having while you are eating. I would not go back, but I do see the parking lot full, so it must be my taste in food that differs, I just wanted to share my experience.

Never again will I go to this«diner». The food was terrible. I ordered Pancakes, Breakfast Potato’s, and Bacon. My wife ordered French Toast. My pancakes were tough, the breakfast potato’s were soggy and cold and did not seem to be fresh, and the bacon was ice cold. My wife’s french toast was cold in the middle and uncooked with raw egg dripping out. She was so grossed out after a bite that she lost her appetite. Also, the service was slow even though the place had under 10 people in it.

This restaurant recently switched locations and is now much closer to «our» side of town, so we were excited to try it out. I agree with some other reviews-new place, but same flat food choices. We were here for breakfast, and everything was«a la carte». What should have been $ 25 plus tip for 4 people was nearly $ 40, and the food left a lot to be desired. I could have made better at home on my own. While I do LOVE the fact that this is a local family business that has been a staple to the town for decades, I feel like they could kick it up a bit and make some changes. I also absolutely love what they have turned«the old blue diner» into-which is a comfortable, friendly & warm location. My only hope is that they up the ante a bit with their food. Best of luck to them!

Literally worst service EVER. The waiters just sit around and talk when they’re packed. The food is pretty mediocre mainly because most of it was cold because it took them 50 years to get it to us. This place has NOTHING on the Jackson Diner. Go spend your money there. Better food and service.

Decent food, but not great. New location… same boring menu catering to their local regulars. Was not overly impressed with the breakfast. Ordered egg whites with turkey sausage and came out slathered in butter… kinda defeats the purpose of a healthier selection. Service was fast and friendly though…

This is definitely a solid place now. 5 stars for food and place, maybe 4 stars for service and 2 stars for bus boy and rest rooms. I say this because no paper towels which has been proven more sanitary than air blowers and Bus boy looked like he wanted to be elsewhere which kind of hurt the mood. Could use less advertising in menus, real distraction. I was always scared to go to old location. I went 11−24−13 and the food and portions were fantastic. I would even say better than Perkins if not equal. To me, place was bustling and food was real good. Place was all redone except for maybe parts of bathrooms. Coffee is just like Perkins which is really just average. Hopefully they will get better coffee, open more hours, and perhaps put a little fireplace in and get some nice couches for evenings. This could be a fantastic place and it is pretty good for breakfast. The really have no competition now in Jackson. It is hands down best place. I will update this if anything changes. I am also hoping there will be a concerted effort toward uniforms or better dress. Now the staff is disheveled– hostess in tight jeans, long haired angry busboy… Hopefully they will address this now that they have a clean new place…

The Mug Rack just moved to this location and I really hope that they enjoy much deserved success. They completely gutted and redecorated the space and it kooks really nice. The menu looks the same and I decided on the Turkey Club with cole slaw and fries. It was prepared the way I asked(lightly toasted), the cole slaw was very good and the fries fresh, hot and crispy. This is basically diner food in a family oriented restaurant so it should do well in Jackson. Nothing fancy, just good food and service. One area where they are going to suffer, however, is in the size of the parking lot. While the former establishment struggled to fill the lot I have driven in and out twice due to lack of parking space. Open 7 days a week but only from 7 until 3.

The place is VERY clean. I was told the turkey in the turkey club was fresh baked but it was lunch meat. The service is really slow but I will give it another try for breakfast only in a few weeks.
