Lucky they received one star! There sign says no wait oil change express yet I waited outside for almost 20 minutes to be helped. There were 2 men ahead of me, one rotating tires and turned out the other guy had to order his so he left. Only one employee outside taking information while the 5 other automotive employees stood around bullshiting. Very unprofessional!

I am very impressed with the men in the automotive center. I am not from this area and called ahead of time from the Bay Area to make sure they had tires that fit my car. Upon my arrival, I made my request and was off to shop while waiting for my car. When I came back to check on my car, to my dismay, I was advised they only had 3 of the 4 tires I needed for a complete set. The gentleman assisting me called a manager, explained the situation, and was able to get me more expensive tires at the cost of Walmart. Bravo! Nicholas and Zachary were great. What a true example of superior customer service. One thing Zachary said that stuck with me, «Exhaust all possibilities».

As far as Walmarts go, you could do a lot worse. This is the«luxury» Walmart, if there is such a thing. It’s not that they do anything different or fancier than your average Walmart. They just benefit from a far more rural location. Most Walmarts have a reputation for unpredictable crowds, a lack of helpful employees and a rogues gallery of customers, but this location is almost entirely the opposite. My latest visit was on Black Friday. While people were sleeping overnight in the cold and clawing each other’s eyes out over big screen TVs down the hill, it was just another shopping day here. I parked ten spaces from the door, casually strolled the aisles and always had an employee in eyesight when I had questions. So why 3 stars? Well, it’s Walmart. They aren’t going to get any props from me for being outstanding to their employees or their customers.

This Wal-Mart, like so many others, just sells products. 98% of the employees are not very helpful, they get confused when you ask them questions beyond«where can I find milk?» and the selection is very limited. Being 6’3″ and a big guy, I can almost never find any clothes in my size beyond sweats. Their electronics department is staffed with people who don’t know much of anything, their stockers have bad habits of leaving pallets in the middle of the isles before going on break and all the managers ever do is apologize for the inconvenience. The pharmacy is a joke. They don’t follow through, they don’t pay attention to what they are doing and when you pick up your prescriptions they insist on telling you what your medication does(as if I don’t know what ibuprofen does) Lousy stores, lousy company, and they are just Target stores reborn to suit the mass population, not the every day customer. Like I said, they don’t carry big man sizes yet they always have racks and racks of clearanced items, sizes ranging from small to large, maybe a few xl’s in there, but not much more than that. Hmmmmm, maybe they should stock less of those sizes and more bigger sizes?

This is the only Walmart that I can say I love. This is in the Sierra Foothills and usually pretty empty, except for the first of the month. It then gets a little crowded but no where near other Walmarts. Walmart is not usually my favorite store but in this small community it fits the bill and saves a trip to Folsom or Sacramento.

While we have shopped here for the past 14 years and like this store overall, today we have to express our disappointment with their operation. This afternoon, on the other side of Hwy 88, there was a grass fire resulting in a loss of electrical power to this store. We arrived after the loss of power and we met by employees outside, and asked about whether they didn’t have back up generators because we could see some lights on within the store. They explained that their generators only had enough power for people to get to the checkup stands and be checked out. They wouldn’t give any estimate of how long they, or PG&E expected the power to be off. We could stand outside the front of the store entrance and observe CalFire working on the fire. We also observed PG&E vehicles in the area. Before long, the smoke subsided quickly followed by a PG&E truck with a boom move into position at the base of a high voltage pole in the parameter of the fire area, and raise its boom with 2 workers in the bucket to the lower power lines on this pole. They did some work and in about 15 — 20 minutes had finished and lowered the boom. After a few minutes we were aware that the power had been restored to Walmart. The soda vending machines outside started up, Lights came on in the store, but everyone was told that they couldn’t come in yet, that it would take 10 minutes to reset(what exactly needed resetting was never explained). Ten minutes came and went, then an employee to people who asked said it would be open in just 15 minutes. Each time someone ask, we got yet more info giving the same or longer estimates, none indicated any progress. After about half an hour and the last«updated» estimate just still saying 20 minutes, we left and went across the street to K-mart which we found wide open. Having spent 15 –20 minutes in K-mart, we thought we’d swing back to Walmart and see if they were open by now, but found them still closed and more people gather outside waiting. This represents a failure of customer communications and respect: 1. They did not give«official» information to those waiting. 2. They made no attempt to inform the waiting customers of any update, nor explain the delay or the added delays as they occurred. 3. They refused customers access to the restrooms. 4. It took them at least 10 minutes after we arrived to have a couple employees stand at the driveway entrance to tell arriving customers that the store was closed, no power. They should have made a sandwich sign with that info on it. 5. There is nothing explained why they wouldn’t let anyone in when it was obvious that the lights were on inside so the customer could get out of the 90 deg heat and push their carts around shopping while what every needed resetting. It seems that if the checkup system were kept operational with back-up power, there should be nothing needed to reopen them. This was a public relations disaster!

I’m surprised at the negative reviews here. As a local, I shop here often and at the KMart next door. Neither WalMart or KMart are my favs, but it’s what there is in this area. I’ve never had a problem at this WalMart and don’t have a problem with the products or employees. The only complaint I have is the table linens(napkins, tableclothes, placemats) are lacking in variety and stock-but KMart neat door helped me out. It’s WalMart. I’m not sure what people’s expectations are.

Walmart is really the only place my family can get all they need without having to take a trip out towards Sacramento. However if there was another store closer that had the same items I would no longer be shopping at this particular Walmart unless some changes happened. My reason being that the amount of broken items on shelves astounds me. There is no reason we should have to open up boxes of food in the store just to make sure they aren’t already ruined before buying them. It is incredibly disappointing to be making tacos, getting everything prepared, and then as you open the taco shells box you realize that they are all completely crushed and unusable. If it was on one occasion fine, but not constantly. It is a little embarrassing having to explain why your products are opened already when checking out, but if we did not check then it is pretty much a guessing game when you get home to find out whether or not your items are usable. Never have I been to a store with so may dented cans either. And once you’ve dented a can you really should not be putting it on the shelves for consumers. What the workers may not know is that cans are under pressure and if dented can explode when opened. Putting them back on the shelves after they have been damaged makes Walmart look very poor. And even if a customer may have dropped a can accidentally and put it back on the shelf, a worker should be inspecting shelves and taking these damaged items off of the shelf. I’ve also experienced going down the soda isle and seeing a 4 pack of soda sitting there with one that was half drank and put back into the box, and another pack that was missing a soda completely. Which would be a customer’s fault of course, but when you come back the next day and it still isn’t cleaned up then someone is not doing their job correctly. And the sad part is I have a friend who worked at Walmart during the past Christmas season, and had even told me about the careless ways he had watched the workers put items onto the shelves and told me they were not doing their jobs right. This tells me it is not just I who have noticed this. While I know most people don’t want to make a stocking job at Walmart their career, it is not okay to treat the job any differently. I really hope that someone working here will see this and help to better this store in this way, and I really would love to see an improvement in the quality of stocked items so I can give this Walmart a higher rating. I do not enjoy giving businesses a bad rating and have nothing against this business personally but I cannot lie and say I am satisfied unfortunately. But good news is that there is room for improvement if action is taken!

C. C… exactly what would it take to ‘satisfy’ you? Fire her? Cut off her head??? The manager apologized… how much more satisfaction do you want? Yes… they are ‘big box’ but be real. Given that Kmart is next door… their parking lot is always empty… their employees are few and far between inside the store and when you finally find someone to ask they ‘don’t know anything’. Reality check… YOUR president certainly isn’t going to run again on his record. YOUR president is a dismal failure and the only way he won the ’08 election is he was perceived better than the GOP alternative. If you think health care is expensive now… wait till it’s FREE. How to you like your ‘hope and change’. I’m hoping/praying for a change in ’12.

I don’t like any of the big box stores but having said that, this one in particular seems to have some personnel issues. Maybe it’s the low pay and lack of benefits. I guess you could not expect their employees to be other than disgruntled. I’d go to KMart next door if you must do the big box thing. Same situation but…
