We had a salad, a Panino, and their homemade tomato soup. Tomato soup is transcendent. The chef is not afraid of flavor. Reasonable prices, friendly service, cute and funky inside and in the garden. This will definitely be our go-to place whatever we are in Jacksonville.

We called at the last minute and Paul was kind enough to fit us in for our first visit to the C St. Bistro. We sat at a table for 6 with another party of 4, who were friendly and accommodating. You need to keep in mind that inside there are few tables and, if you are a small party, you will likely be sharing. In warm weather they seat outdoors at mostly smaller tables where you can have your privacy. The food was out of this world! We shared a wedge salad, brought our own bottle of wine(corkage a reasonable $ 15), had the spaghetti and the lamb chops. Innovative and absolutely superb! Service was attentive, 1 – 1 for culinary conversations, friendly. Overall, perfect. This will be our new, favorite place.

Welp… I was expecting a 5 star service, when instead I left feeling disappointed. I had the tomato soup, which sounded tempting. Unfortunately, the consistency made the soup feel and taste more like a pasta sauce. I’ve had much better soup from a can. I chose to have a burger because I couldn’t make my mind up on the entrees. The burger fell apart within a few bites, so I was left eating it with a fork. The onions and blue cheese were on point, so at least it was a tasty mess. The fingerlings could have been cooked just a bit longer to soften the bite. And… there was no dessert, except an ice cream sandwich… pass. The service wasn’t the best, it was with a smile but very slow. I had to inquire about a refill(on water) and dessert options. They definitely love their locals, visitors not so much.

I highly recommend this place for brunch or lunch. If you like the sound of people saying, «yumm, slurp, chomp, slurp’ this is sooooo good», then this is the place for you.

Amazing food and wonderful service! Visiting from SoCal and found this hidden gem. Super laid back vibe and great music coming from the kitchen. The food tasted like it came straight from the farm, so fresh. My boyfriend said they had the best tomato soup he had ever had!

This Bistro is small; there are only 3 or 4 tables and a patio. We ate inside. The community tables made me feel like I was a local, just like the people at the other end our table were. Looking out the window I thought to myself that Jacksonville would be a very nice place to live. Linda and I each had a cup of tomato soup and share a shrimp Louie. The soup is one of their specialties. Tasting the soup I know why, it was delicious; it tasted like wonderful fresh tomatoes. The server split the salad and it was more than enough for the two of us. Linda had ice tea and I had a lemonade, The menu had a lot of interesting dishes. Reading the reviews after we had lunch, it sounds like breakfast would be wonderful. Will I come back? Yes I will, after all the chef had his picture taken with Julia Child. But more importantly the meal was really good. I want to try more of the well prepared – locally sourced dishes that all sound intriguing.

Another great chef owned bistro in Jacksonville. The food is imaginative and everything is locally sourced. They have a nice outside patio which is perfect when weather permits. I ordered the Kalinator burger which has kale and tomatoes on grilled sourdough. Delicious !

C Street Bistro prepared an imaginative brunch for me: Sous vide pork belly and whole grain griddle cakes with candied pecan butter and rosemary infused pure maple syrup plus two farm fresh eggs, mine poached. My plate presented beautifully and everything, except for the eggs which were almost hard boiled, was cooked to perfection, with distinctive and complimentary flavours — the belly pork being particularly yummy. There are three communal tables inside, respectively seating 4, 6 and 8, somewhat elbow to elbow — and more seating outside on the deck. Question: As we waited on our check I pondered whether tipping the chef/proprietor who serves and cooks for you is de rigeur — since he’s not working minimum wage. I decided I would leave a gratuity, the meal deserved an applause, but then came the bill and payment: They process card payments through Square on an iPhone where several tipping buttons starting at 17% are«helpfully» offered — including one to leave no tip. So they pretty much decided for me, the proprietor expected to be tipped. I’ve never fully bought into the supposed social-contract that patrons must supplement minimally paid restaurant workers — rather leaving a gratuity for good service instead. I’m typically generous. I think restaurants should pay their staff well — particularly good restaurants such as this one where they charge near premium prices. Anybody care to comment on whether they think the chef/proprietor should prompt for a tip?

Tiny yet charming restaurant with nice staff but I think my expectations were set a little to high after reading all of these reviews. I ordered the burger with blue cheese and caramelized onions and was a little bit disappointed. Something was a little bit off about it. But the brioche bun and the dressing on the side salad were delicious. I also enjoyed the paradise iced tea with orange simple syrup. I would definitely come back but and would definitely order something different off of the menu.

We came here based off of reviews on Unilocal. We were not disappointed. The flavors of the food were amazing– I can’t say enough about the quality of the food and the flavors. Everything was done well. We had brunch and my husband commented this was the best brunch he’s ever paid for. Perfectly in fact and I can’t believe we have never been here before and we can’t wait to come back for lunch or dinner.

My date and I both had a cheese burger with garlic and herb fingerling potatoes, mine was called the forager and came with Swiss cheese or provolone and wild mushrooms and truffle aoili, it was divine! One of the most satisfying burgers I’ve ever had. The garlic that was fried with the potatoes had crunchy little bits that burst with garlicky flavor. It was a bit spendy at $ 15 but I guess it’s to be expected with a great chef and it being a Bistro and all. Serving size is not large, but plenty enough. Service was great, we ate outdoors on the patio and the chef came out to collect from the herb garden as we waited, much attention to detail is evident. Everything was perfect. Loved it!

If you talk to locals this is the go to place for lunch. We went for Dinner one night. It is very small and communal inside but there is a deck and tables outside when weather permits. The Chef owner waited tables the night we were there.(one of my pet peeves is… I’d rather the chef be in the Kitchen) . This guy moved up to Jacksonville from the a big city for a slower pace restaurant. He is a talented chef on some selected items. Out of our 4 selection the Risotto was the standout. Wild Mushroom risotto with a rich beef stock, perfectly cooked and delicious. Its a quaint casual place… good food and good wine and a entertaining Chef owner you waits on you. I’d eat outside when weather is warm.

Our group of four stopped here for a Thursday afternoon lunch based on reviews here and other places. We were not disappointed; like another reviewer said, I’d give it more stars if I could. I’m used to very good speciality restaurants, but am always doubtful of any place that tries to do too much, with too much variety, as something always seems to suffer. Not here. We ordered a variety of different things and nothing was below par We had an Americana burger with fingerling taters, a shrimp panini, a C Street Salad, a couple tomato soups, and blue cheese burger with Caesar. The soup was a surprise; most places heat up some V8 and call it soup, whereas this was a shock of amazing flavor. The burgers were tasty, though next time I’d probably get mine medium. Not a knock on the burger; just my preference. The C Street Salad was a full serving, not some dinky side salad. And finally my wife says the shrimp panini is among the best in memory. Hospitality was down home and comfortable; the owner handled pretty much everything(seating, taking orders, taking money, cooking) and was conversational and friendly. Also, he knows where the food comes from, which I appreciate. Local grown, raised, «no bad stuff» according to the menu. I cannot recommend this place enough. If we pass this way again, this will be on our must do list.
