Top notch Salon. I’ve been going to the Salon for many years. They are simply the best in color and style.

I am in Jacksonville for business for several weeks, and my split ends were driving me crazy. I checked out several reviews, and landed on daniel James Salon, both because of the reviews and its proximity to my hotel. I made my appointment online – for 6 pm on a Friday afternoon. They called me and confirmed a couple of hours later. I arrived for my appointment and the fella at the front door was super friendly. The location was awesome – apparently one of the only buildings remaining from the big Jacksonville fire in the 1920s. He took me upstairs and offered me a beverage while I waited. The wait was brief – less than 5 minutes. Elizabeth sat me down and checked out my hair and asked questions to determine what I wanted. She offered me a scalp massage, which was just what the doctor ordered after a long week. Then she took me up yet another level to wash my hair. When we returned down for the cut, she offered me a glass of wine, and I took her up on a glass of red. It was cold, so that was a little weird, but it wasn’t turned and was tasty once it warmed up. Elizabeth masterfully trimmed my hair – getting rid of the dead ends and masterfully thinning it out my thick mane and giving me some long layers. The conversation was pleasant, and Elizabeth walked me down to show me the couple of products she used in my hair. I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I checked out. My hair is very long and thick, and I generally expect to pay at least $ 50 for a cut in a salon. Not so here! I totally recommend this place, and hope business brings me back to Jacksonville in time to get my next cut here. The only con I have is that if you have problems with steps, this is not the place for you; however, if steps are cool, you’ll enjoy the cool atmosphere and great service.

Was visiting from out of town and Walked in for a blow out. Everyone was so nice and I received excellent service. My stylist was awesome and she asked a lot of questions to make sure I was very happy. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable!

This was my second visit. Nicola you rock!!! Had a great experience felt comfortable and relaxed. Nicola gave me exactly what I asked for! Love it!!! Next time I’m in town and need my hair done this is where I will go! Thanks!

Great Mens haircut! See J.R.
Been a while since I had been to DJS as I was to the west coast and back for over a year. However, I called and was able to get in on a Saturday.
Note: the downtown location is open every other Saturday.
Was greeted by J.R. who was my stylist as well. J.R. sat down and listened and recommended and in the end best mens cut I have had back in Jacksonville. The cut compares to the quality of LA salons!

I always book with Tyler. She gives me whatever craziness I ask for, with a little bit of reason mixed in. She’s always sweet and genuinely cares about her clients. The salon is three story, very clean and calming. Other local salons (some rated higher, for some unknown reason) leave you feeling like you just went through a chaotic conveyor belt of people that couldn’t be bothered with giving you a personal touch — not here!

Today was my first time at Daniel James, and I couldn’t be happier with my stylist along with my cut. I’ve had bad experiences in other salons around town so I came in a bit nervous. Nicola was super friendly, and made me feel comfortable. I love my new haircut and have already received so many compliments. My husband says I look 10years younger… now that’s awesome! Definitely happy I booked my next appointment. Thanks Nicola! :)

I just came to Jacksonville for the summer and desperately needed a cut. I came to Daniel James on a whim since they had an opening that day and a $ 10 coupon for new customers (available online!). I ended up with Alyssa, and she was not only attentive, but careful. This is really important because I wanted to go from very long layered hair to the shortest hair I’ve had in a long, long time. Alyssa took the time to understand my hair texture, how I normally like to do my hair, and what I was looking for. Throughout the cut she was communicating with me and I REALLY appreciated this. I left the salon really happy with my haircut and I will definitely be back if I find myself in Jacksonville again! I’m only sad she won’t be in Chicago with me :(
Prices here are very reasonable and the salon clean and well maintained.

Ask for Tyler, she is great! I have been looking for a stylist since my last one gave me 3 bad cuts in a row after 12 years. I have spent 5 years looking for another great one. Found one in Nova Scotia but that was a pricey trip, ha ha. Anyway, I am super happy with the style Tyler gave me. The cut is really complicated — asymetrical on each side, longer in front and stacking in the back but she nailed it! I feel like I got a NYC cut for a Jacksonville price.

I had an appt today as a new client with JR. He and the rest of the staff are extremely nice. JR listened, he advised and I received a great cut and style. Can’t wait to go back.

Ask for Tyler, she is the best. This salon is professional and friendly. I get 5 star New York style service for a very good reasonable price. $ 20 for the best haircut I’ve ever had.

I can not say enough good things about Daniel James. The atmosphere and stylists make the experience wonderful. Everyone is knowledgable. I have never been happier with my hair than I am now. I get soo many compliments! My stylist now is JR and I love him to death!

I found myself in Jacksonville for a week when my husband had to come up for work. I decided to find a salon near the hotel that I could get my hair done and I stumbled upon the James Daniel Salon. Though they were booked for the day they were able to get me in at the last minute and I found myself with Nate.
Nate not only asked questions about what I was wanting, he also listened to what I was thinking. It has been several weeks now and I am still loving my hair.
I live in Orlando, about two hours away, but we are starting to spend more time on Jacksonville so I am going to get to this salon as much as I can. I have not been able to find a decent, reasonably priced place in Orlando since my regular salon shut down over a year ago. I am going to drive the two hours to come see Nate again!
Also, the owner (I believe) trains dogs for the Canine for Companions program and during my visit I met Reeder, a beautiful well-​behaved pup from the program. He was just a joy and had everyone smiling. He, however, will not bother you if you are not a dog person. I am not sure if I liked Nate or Reeder more!!!

I have tried at least 6 different stylists in the last 2 years and have been somewhat satisfied to downright mortified. FINALLY! I have found Dan and a long with him is a great cut. If you are looking for a discount doo this salon is not for you. However, if you are looking for a skilled stylist then make an appointment with Dan. He talked with me extensively about my hair and the outcome I was looking to achieve. I allowed him to make suggestions and followed his advice. I was very satisfied and will return.

I came here about two months ago because I saw a FREE haircut sign out front. (They randomly have FREE or discount haircut days, or special promotions, so if you work in the downtown area, you might want to pass by. Lol.) Well, they were booked for the day, but the day I was scheduled for an appointment, they had a 20% off sign out front. Hooray!
I went in not knowing how I wanted my hair done. One of the stylists took the time to find a haircut that suited my face. He explained to me why it would work well with my face, and patiently answered any questions I had. In short, the service was Excellent, which is pretty important when dealing with haircuts. Lol.
The only thing I disliked was the high-​class price, but I guess it comes with its affiliation with Aveda salons.
So if you can spare some extra money, but want good service and an awesome hairstyle, this is a great choice.
