Wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either. They want to be fine dining, but they have tvs on. Need to figure out what kind of restaurant they want to be. Had the fettuccini alfredo, which was really bland. Added shrimp, 4 for $ 8. You can decide for yourselfDefinitely overpriced. We seated ourselves which was fine, but a couple who came in after us waited at least 5 minutes and no one greeted them. Finally the couple asked us and then seated themselves. The place was completely dead, so no excuse. Also, the water was nasty. We won’t eat here again.

Went there on March21 as we are out of towners it was recommended for its food. Food was very good, however my wife forgot her coat, when we got home 200 miles away she called to see if they could mail it to us and we would pay the postage. Oh no they couldn’t it was much too difficult. It wasn’t difficult for them to change my credit card $ 150. Very poor service. Won’t go back ever

Great place! I’ve had meetings here and also dined here. Love the brick walls, just a fun pub…

I’ve been here so many times as I grew up in Jacksonville and I still go here quite a bit when I’m in town to visit family. While I wouldn’t say Muggsy’s is the absolute best I’ve ever had, it’s still my favorite restaurant in town. They’ve had some creative menu changes recently, which I have enjoyed because I like to try new things, especially if I haven’t had something like it anywhere else. The food is usually pretty good. The service here is alright. I don’t know which server we had last time, but it did take a while to get drink refills. It seemed like they didn’t have many servers working at the time, though. I think when Muggsy’s gets busy, it can feel a little crowded. I do like the atmosphere, though. They recently re-did their bar area and it looks great.

Was recommended that I try Muggsy’s while I was in Jacksonville. Make sure you have the address and a GPS or else you will drive by it a few times before you actually find it. They had swordfish on special and let me tell you it was amazing! It was prepared perfectly. It came with asparagus and was on a bed of tomato pasta. A very unique place and by the attendance it might be one of the better places in Jacksonville to eat.

After trying Mugsy’s numerous times and always feeling somewhat let-down, my wife and I took the advice of friends and tried again. What a marvelous surprise! Excellent service, ambiance, a more interesting menu, and FOOD. The crab chowder is easily the equal of similar fare in our favorite places on the East Coast… Wonderful. We had the Tempura Shrimp and a Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp in both dishes was cooked perfectly. The salad was good, but it looked like they might have been running low on Romaine… Some lettuce«ends» that should have been discarded. The owner of Mugsy’s is a genius at converting run-down properties into great-looking eateries. I’m delighted to re-discover his flagship!

While I’ve had one particularly bad experience at Muggsy’s(a crabby and not very efficient waitress, who I later learned was a manager), I generally enjoy it. The food is always delicious, and some of the servers are very knowledgeable and professional. The ambiance is why my husband and I go there, because it’s quite different from everything else in Jacksonville. There’s always a good concert DVD on, although sometimes not fitting of the restaurant, but it’s usually enjoyable. The only real problem is that it sometimes takes awhile to get the process started, depending on your server.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere at Muggsy’s, especially all the exposed brick. The food was really great too. My husband had the prime rib with a crab chowder soup, and I had the special which was a charbroiled, bone-in ribeye with tomatoes and goat cheese on top, and the beer cheese soup. Both meals were excellent. We also shared the deep-fried deviled eggs, which were awesome! I would definitely go back. Unilocal didn’t have some of the information very accurate about the restaurant — the $ should really be two $$, which is a good thing because when we showed up thinking the food wasn’t going to be very good because it was showed as being so cheap on Unilocal,we were pleasantly surprised that the prices were a little higher. The prime rib was $ 23, and the special I had was $ 28(20oz bone-in ribeye — it was huge!). I would say the average price for a dinner plate was about $ 21, which is what I would have expected. Also they do take reservations — the Unilocal page said they didn’t take them. Luckily we got there early enough(5:00) we didn’t need them, but it was filling up fast!

Had the ribeye sandwich, cooked perfectly, with great waffle fries. Restaurant smelled a little funny when we walked in and they were playing this horrible old country music. Not completely bad/good

We were looking for a decent casual restaurant in Jacksonville and tried Muggsy’s. Wow is all I can say, the décor is inviting, with nice outside dining. The inside dining was slighlty cramped, but it was Home Coming and a lot of couples were there. The food was very, very good. The menu is a nice variety of reasonable priced sandwiches with a good variety of dinner entrée’s. The appetizers were great and plentiful. They also have several dinner specials which my wife and I tried. They were very fresh tasting and different. Our daughter goes to Illinois College in Jacksonville, and this is the ONLY place we will eat when we are down to visit her. Ample parking right next store and across the street. I wish I would have taken a picture, but the outside does not do it justice.
