Very good food, a lot of thought put into the dishes and menu. Great beer selection on draft. Great staff and service. Highly recommended.

We decided to try this location because a friend and fellow Unilocaler raved about this place. It is in a perfect location, in between 904 Music Hall and Downtown Cigar Lounge. So when you go in you order at the bar, then have a seat and they bring your food to you. Let me preface the rest of this review, it’s going to sound a little bougie and douchebad like, but it’s how I felt when I was there. Okay… onto the review: So I ordered the Mac n’ Cheese because the menu said it was it’s signature menu item. They have the basic Mac ‘n Cheese, then there are add-ons available. I decided to add Tri-tip meat and tomato medley. They also have Leinkugels(I’m sure I just misspelled that) Summer Shandy on tap(so awesome!) so I get that as well. When the food comes, I’m already kind of disappointed because of two things: 1.) cheap plastic untensils(like the REALLY cheap kind), 2.) they put breadcrumbs on the Mac ‘n Cheese but didn’t brown it.(told ya, douchie). The Mac ‘n Cheese is not very ‘cheesy’, as in it reminds me of Kraft mac n cheese. The tri tip is in there, but I didn’t get any tomatoes in it. The tomato was a small side to the mac n cheese. I fully admit, I could’ve read that wrong, but my mouth was ready for tomatoes in my mac n cheese. There were other people that came in and told us how they love coming to this place, but they always get the pockets or sandwhich, which I’m going to give it another shot(they do have Summer Shandy after all) and try that. I’ll keep you updated…

Cool vibe, small place, really a neat find. Okay, parking is an issue, as is the construction for the new Cowfard Steak House, but it is worth the effort. If it helps, look for the big 904 on the window and Spliff’s is next door. The food is really cool, a mix of upscale grilled cheese, tri-tip steak, salads and fun foods. At least at lunch, it is a counter order restaurant, much like Blacksheep, and food is delivered to your table. I have tried their special Mac n Cheese, the tri-top sandwich(a little kick) and the grilled cheese and I am always thrilled with my choices. If only parking were a little easier and this would be a weekly venture.

I have not been to the downtown location, but they DELIVER free of charge if you are around the area! Placing the order was very easy and the delivery was super fast! I would give the customer service and prices five stars. I ordered the good fella and the puff pastry was delicious. I wish there was more cheese inside, but it was still very good and the sauce was AMAZING(pesto). The staff recommended a sauce for the pocket that I ordered. I was also a fan of the mac and cheese. However, the side portion of mac and cheese was quite small. Next time I may order a full portion, so I can get a better taste.

Stopped in here the other night after I chilled at the Downtown Cigar Lounge. I was hungry but didn’t want typical fast food. i walked in and the staff walked me through the menu. I went with the Mac and cheese with Grilled chicken and shrimp added… It was the absolute BOMB!!! While I waited for my food I scanned their beer menu and ordered A Greenroom Double Overhead 9.0% ABV, which was very good… yeah. I’m back again and again.

I’d have to say that this place is pretty unimpressive. The employees were pretty cool and the beer was good. But the food was kind of a joke. My coworker got the Mac n’ cheese and it was pretty dry. I got the ham sandwich and it had one slice of ham on it.

What a phenomenal find! I’m the area and was looking for some quality food to grab. Not too many options other than your typical chains. Saw this place got reviewed highly and was relatively inexpensive so took an exposition and brought friends. Boy were we happy! Ambiance is super chill. Small little pub, few high top tables and 4 regular tables. Staff is awesome. ~20 beers on tap, menu is simple but food is anything but. The grilled cheeses are awesome. The Mac and cheese is a must. Definitely worth your time!

I was looking for an after hours spot that was still serving food and Spliff’s came up. I have to say that the food exceeded my expectations, it was fresh and very tasteful. I had their pockets which were very good and my friend had the Mac n cheese which was amazing. The place is very welcoming and the staff is very friendly, definitely a place that I would consider revisiting. By the way, it was reasonably priced for the portions that you get. This place is worth trying!

I wanted to like this place. The mac n cheese was dry and unimpressive. They do have a decent beer selection including my citywide favorite pinglehead. The noise on a Friday night from 1901 was also pretty awful.

Awesome friendly place in downtown Jacksonville! Everyone is raving about the Mac and cheese and holy crap is it excellent, but I have to have the sandwiches! The big spliff with the habanero sauce is just fantastic and more than enough for one person. Get the side of Mac to go with. They also have a large range of craft beers with local brewers on draft. The staff is knowledgeable about what they serve and can certainly provide great recommendations. They have a great patio area out back when there is a good crowd. Really enjoyed hanging out here and meeting some new folks. A new must try for this area.

I had The Big Spliff sandwich and The Bowl of Green salad with chicken and thought both were great. The place is smaller, comfortable, and casual. Use Google to find it because it was right where Google maps said it was but I never saw a sign out front. Think they are working on that since they’re still new. Cool and eclectic beer selection that I really enjoyed. The owner was tending bar, and both he and the cook were friendly and cool to talk with. Definitely a great place to grab a bite, beer, or both. BTW, there’s a music hall next door owned by the same people, so if you are looking for that, might be cool. Didn’t go in, so I can’t speak about it personally.

Holy hell. Hubs got the Mac n cheese and I got the grilled cheese(and added bacon). There are zero cons about this place; this place is awesome for a million reasons. Hubs dinner: the pasta was perfectly done. Not too al dente and not too mushy. The sauce was just right. I always love excess cheese and salt, but I know the masses typically don’t. His Mac n cheese was the epitome of temptation reserved… that ooy-gooey’ness that stops right at the cusp of too much. Loved it and was insanely jealous of his dish(which doesn’t happen much). But…mine was better… Buttered toast, perfectly cheesey, plus bacon sandwich. THEREISNOTHINGBETTER. Honestly the only bad part of this is the fact that they didn’t bring me more! The portion is perfect for one, but it doesn’t matter — it is so good that it brings out the inner fat kid and you want to eat more. The ambience is good. Simplistic and rustic. The music is a bit loud if you want a quiet conversation, but I didn’t(I’m married to him — don’t need to listen to him at dinner). The waitstaff is attentive but not too overbearing. I truly love this place and will come back the next time I’m in JAX.

One of the single best vegan sandwiches I have ever had. Came in not knowing what to expect because it’s so new but I was blown away. Told 5 of my friends and they all came in and ordered different things and loved it!

Played at the venue next door and came over here for late night eats and beer. Ordered the steak sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese. Order came up quickly and freshly prepared. Loved it. Can’t wait to come back to Jacksonville and try some more items on the menu. My vegetarian buddy had the Vegan sandwich and absolutely loved it.

I have been watching for this place to open for a while now. Today I saw it was open for real this time. I have seen them kind of sneak a couple of «soft openings» you know for Fla/Ga weekend and artwalk. The place is small you could almost say cozy. There is a lot of old brick from the original buildout in 1904. There are a couple of Tv’s way up on the walls too. Then you have a sweet looking bar/counter from which you order everything. I walked up and Duane was there just biting at the bit to tacky order along with the other folks that happened in. The menu is pretty large with some salads, some mac n cheese selections, then some more different grilled cheese sammages. I went with the Ziggy sandwich was a mac n cheese side. Ok with a name like Spliff’s and a sandwich named Ziggy and me being one of the biggest Bob Marley fans out there. I had to run with it. The sandwich was nothing of what I thought it would be. I thought Ziggy marley/Bob Marley and them being from Jamaica. I thought maybe jerk chicken or something. But, no it was Pastrami(my weakness) salami and provolone cheese on wheat bread toast. The sandwich was pretty darn tasty and the mac n cheese was also on point. I did liked it and when it comes to pastrami I’m kind of a self proclaimed master of the meat. I will say that they did a bang up job on the place and if you wonder around and which I did. You will find some really cool artwork everywhere. I massive firewall/painting of cute and snardy sayings along with massive brewery logo on the wall. Then you can go outside where there are some picnic tables and some more really cool artwork. I will say that is a really cool place that I will frequent being that it is open late at night. Maybe even a sweet little event soon. Hey Allie. wink wink
