West Elm

LOVE West Elm and this store in particular! Although, the store is some what small for the amount of inventory it holds — they have it staged in a way to not feel overwhelmed while shopping. I’m a shopper who likes to looks, see and touch for herself first — then if I can’t help myself I’m not shy to find an associate.
The sales associate we dealt with last week was stellar! He understand the type of shopper i was — provided me the info I needed (where I would find what I was looking for, how the pricing was structured (less expensive upfront and more expensive towards the back), and what the sale of the day was) then disappeared. He came back through to check on us without being too pushy.

I am obsessed with West Elm (literally, most of the rooms in my house have West Elm products in them) and was excited to finally visit a store when visiting Jacksonville this spring. Sadly, Pittsburgh does not have a location, so I made sure to schedule a quick trip here in our itinerary. I was thoroughly impressed. The store is very visually appealing and displays a wide number of products shown in their catalogs. The emphasis and point of view of the store also strongly reflects the catalog. Customer service was descent. When sharing that I was from PA, the associate immediately suggested multiple shipping options, such as ordering online or over the phone from the store in Philadelphia.

I ordered a desk and mounted shelf from this place and had it arranged to ship on a day when I could recieve it (I live in an apartment with no doorman).
They wrote the address down wrong so it was delayed a week… but when I called they HAD the right address they just put the wrong one on the package. Ok, whatever. Annoying, but mistakes happen.
When I finally DID get the stuff, the color of the desk was wrong, and the hardware to assemble it was nothing but mutilated scrap metal. I live too far away and needed a desk too immediately to do anything about it but complain to people’s manager and be very angry… but at least I can write this review. That gives me a little peace of mind.
Seriously, the people here are unhelpful and whoever was in charge of shipping me my stuff is incompetent. Furniture looks nice in the store, but if you don’t actually get what you order and pay for then it doesn’t matter does it?

If you’re a fan of west elm, I highly recommend you get on their e-​mail list. This lovely attribute is what allowed me to finish off my living room seating.
We were able to buy coordinated seats to match our couch we bought in September at a 40% discount. For a model that never before had been on sale, we took advantage of two different sales and were able to outfit our living room. The 40% off was only for one weekend, so that’s why you need to be on their list. I don’t go to the mall every weekend, but I definitely went that weekend.
