Beautiful trail. Starts just a few feet from the 5-way intersection in Jaffrey where 202, 137, 124, Stratton Rd, & Blake Street intersect(or Main St, Peterborough St, Turnpike Rd, Stratton Rd, & Blake Street if you don’t see the route signs). You can park in a lot behind Jaffrey Pizza Barn off of Blake Street, in the lot for Merry Berry on Sundays(they’re closed), or on Main Street in Jaffrey for free. Perfect for biking(it’s unpaved so mountain bikes are best), walking, or running. There are snow mobiles on the trail in the winter(winters that have snow that is! There wasn’t much snow mobile activity the winter of ’11-’12). It’s wide & flat so it’s perfect for all ages & abilities. Very dog-friendly(please pick up the poop though if your dog poops on or right next to the trail…). There are several tougher, narrower, rockier, ascending trails off of the main, flat trail as well & maps at the beginning of each one. You can see the water from many points on the trail — it’s just beautiful! Keep your eyes peeled for herons! Heads up for bears!

This Rails to Trails starts in Jaffrey and goes all the way to Winchedon, MA. Parking is available at the Jaffrey end at the town lot, or along the trail where it intersects with major roadways. Eventually, it will go all the way to Peterborough. The Jaffrey portion is paved for a short distance, then turns to crushed gravel. As it passes through Rindge, it is opened to some ATV’s, so watch out if you are on bike or foot. The majority is very flat, and much of the trail borders the river, making it a gorgeous ride/walk. In Rindge, the trail does cross several major roads(i.e. Rt. 119) so caution should be taken during those portions. What a gem.
