I love this diner. It’s a basic, neighborhood diner with good food, good coffee, and excellent prices. Right across from Forest Hills station, this makes a great stop in before you get on the T. The people working behind the counter always have smiles and conversation to share. The people in the diner are obviously neighborhood regulars and you’ll see the same faces again and again. The food is solid, basic food. The eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast is a large portion and you easily fill up. At $ 6, this is impossible to beat. And you get unlimited coffee!!! Oh yes. Sign me up. Don’t expect anything fancy. If you come in with that expectation, then you’ll leave satisfied and full.

Perfectly simple! This cheap and simple diner is very straight forward. I spent a week on the road in Iceland living off bread and trail mix so I was craving a proper American diner breakfast and this place gave me just that, for under $ 7! I got the 2 eggs with bacon breakfast special which also came with toast, home fries and coffee. The coffee was the only thing was just«meh». I have had worse but it wasn’t particularly tasty. My food came out in under 5 minutes and I scarfed it down happily. Also a note — great place for solo diners. Almost everyone in there was on their own and eating happily. Clearly they have lots of regulars.

Great breakfast. Counter service, but very friendly. The food came out quickly, but that is what I want for eggs. My wife got an omelet, I got sausage and scrambled eggs; both were very good. The sausages were real links, not brown n serve like everywhere else. Highly recommend.

This has to be the single worst place in Boston I have been to. About the only thing going for this diner is that it is cheap. But the result is mediocre food with horrendous wait times. We arrived today at 11:15. There were 2 – 3 guys at the grill plus a super friendly woman taking orders. We had 4 people in front of us in line. No one’s was complicated. My wife and I had 2 eggs with bacon and home fries and everyone before us had similarly simple meals. Our food was finally available at 12:20. Yes, over 1 hour for food that was only OK. The guys in front of us who ordered pancakes waited a good 20 minutes after we got ours for their dishes. That’s pretty close to 90 minutes for pancakes. They didn’t look happy. There are some good reviews for this place but I really cannot see how they are possible. It’s not like the place was understaffed. There is no service that they provide so the 4 people behind the counter should be able to get eggs out in a reasonable amount of time. Ok so maybe if you have a family of 6 the few dollars you save per person could be worth it over Dogwood a few doors down. But if you have a job, even getting something close to minimum wage your time is valuable enough to make skipping this waste of space an easy decision.

Just came in this morning. It is cold outside(not unlike any other Boston morning in January) And all I was thinking about was some home fries Right from the getgo the lady was super friendly. I said i would later get a hot chocolate after I ordered my 3 egg special(7 bucks for eggs sausages toast and home fries? Easy money) but the lady insisted that she would make one for me!!! Already I would recommend.

I went to Forest Hills Diner for breakfast on a saturday morning around 9:30/10AM. The place was pretty empty which made me a bit nervous because if you know anything about breakfast diners, they should be bumping on the weekend mornings. Anyways, we ordered… the lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. I got a ham, egg and cheese on a bagel with a side of home fries. The sandwich was good, nothing spectacular to write home about, but it was good and it was very cheap for the boston area. The homefries was a huge portion that I think I only ate half off. The food is good here, and for the price, it’s well worth it. It’s definitely on our list of places to return to!

Super casual no-frills diner. Don’t expect smiles or clean tables. We came here based on the excellent Unilocal reviews. Thankfully the price tag’s as easy to swallow as their greasy breakfasts. Service was fine — order at the counter then wait for them to call your name to collect your plate. Pretty straight-forward. Pretty meh.

Quick, good portions, tasty breakfast, and easy on the wallet. Best plates are the combo plates, they give you a good amount of home fries, real oily but so good lol. If you want to expand your waist size, this is the place to go!

Best meatloaf omelette ever! Right across the street from the Forest Hills T stop. A few tables but moves quickly as food is done in like 10 min tops. They take debit cards and have an atm inside.

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Boston. This place has good food, fair prices, and lovely staff who make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. My boyfriend and I now come here religiously on weekend mornings and whenever we try to go anywhere else, it just doesn’t compare to the Forest Hills Diner– either there’s a long wait, the food is overpriced, it’s too far away, etc. This place is literally the best of everything all rolled into one– friendly, almost familial casual atmosphere, awesome food, for prices that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. I love it here.

Best hangover breakfast ever. Awesome, straight-to-the-point staff. No fancy, weird stuff. Just that good breakfast you need after a long night, or before a long day. And doesn’t cost A GAZILLIONDOLLARS.

Forest Hills Diner is a wonderful addition to the Forest Hills Train Station area. Seriously. They are flexible with how food is cooked, say you wanted you eggs much harder or the sausage more charred on the outside. What’s even better is that your wallet doesn’t pucker up before and after you order: the breakfast food is so affordable that it is boggling(but I ain’t complainin’). Good hours, delightful workers and worth the visit if you normally catch the train at Forest Hills. Get tea/coffee from Fazenda while waiting for your food to cook there. Great combo.

I love this place. They have great, greasy food in a good way! I just ordered a steak bomb and boy, was it good. It’s an old school steak bomb and I have had a hard time finding places in JP that offer good steak bombs. My other favorite place is Uggi’s but that is a bit out of my way. Check out the diner… the staff is super friendly too. By the way, for a large steak bomb and a soda I paid like 9 bucks!

Good Fast and Cheap. I had the english muffin with eggs and cheese then a cup of coffee for $ 4 bucks! Well $ 5 including tip. That was just enough for me. My friends on the other hand were slighty more adventurous then I was. The home fries were my favorite!

Hell yes. The lady here with the accent is so sweet that I watch her demeanor sweeten that of others. The food does what it sets out to very well: diner food. Excellent eggs, wonderful french toast, and the choice of either sausage links or patties are highlights. It’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s delicious. A feeling of good will and hard work pervades throughout the joint. It gets you amped about your day and happy about living in JP. Skip dumbass Centre Street café and come here. Maybe your eggs won’t be organically raised and sent to a Montessori school, but they will taste better.

Cheap, fast, delicious! Went on a Saturday around 11am and wasn’t too busy… which was nice because I was in a hurry. I got bacon, eggs, and deliciously seasoned home fries, also the perfect portion size for brunch. My friend got an omelette, also very flavorful and one of the top 3 omelettes I’ve ever had. The one thing was its the kind of place where you leave and a smell like a college cafeteria stays on your clothes and hair. So I’d recommend waiting to shower until after you go here… UPDATE: This place has way more than good breakfast items. I got the hamburger club and it was AWESOME! Also they have an omelette with bacon, ham, and loaded with veggies that was to die for!

I have lived down the street from the gem for 3 years and can’t believe what I have been missing. I love a good diner and I have had one a few blocks away all this time. My parents were in town visiting and stopped in for some bagel sandwiches and coffee one morning. They came back raving about the place, so we went a few days later for lunch! I had the roast beef dinner — it was about a pound of lean, tender roast beef that melted in my mouth. Super deee-lish! Not to mention the mash and gravy, corn and green beans that were this Texas girls dream come true! My parents ordered omlettes that were filled with veggies and cheese to make your mouth water and the home fries are second to none! Fresh tasty coffee, nice service, fantastic food — it’s good eats!

Excellent everything. Food is better than you might expect because those behind the counter actually care about what they’re doing, and the service proves the same. The prices are low, and it all makes for a great diner in an area where there are few breakfast options aside from Dunkin Donuts. I can’t think of a bad experience or negative aspect that would make me complain or think twice about returning.
