Very happy to have a small sushi place like this in our new neighborhood. Not a fancy restaurant, but a dependable place for our sushi take-out nights. I have been very happy with their rolls and very impressed by their prices. My husband do like the wings and we will truly look to Kamado for our sushi orders.

I have never written a review on Unilocal before but this place was so horrible that I felt I should. I had ordered the salmon Maki and the seafood miso soup. The seafood miso soup was all crab stick, no shrimp and the taste was disgusting. The sushi was all soggy and was inedible. When I pointed this out to the person working behind the counter and asked if I could try something else he said no. I would never go back there again. Star Wars I would have given it a zero because I ended up not eating anything but I had to give it a one because Unilocal wouldn’t let me give it less.

I used to really like coming here. The sushi was fresh and the service was great. Not sure what happened, maybe a change in management? The last few times I have seen terrible service and sub par food. I came here with my little sister about an hour before close and did not receive a greeting from staff, we chose to stay against better judgment. We were served food on a styrofoam plate. This was strange and had never happened before at this restaurant. The dumplings were also cold and appeared to have beeen microwaved on said styrofoam plate. Ewww.

Unilocalers were right on the mark about the wings! They are delicious – crispy, crunchy with a sweet, spicy glaze. My most is watering as I write about them! Delivery was very quick and for the first time in the history of my JP delivery orders, the very nice delivery person not only buzzed my door but brought the food to my door. What? Yep, that’s good service. If I wanted to go down a couple flights of stairs for my food and into the street, I would have gone out for the full dining experience. So, go Kamado for making delivery actually delivery in JP!

Sushi is mediocre, but seeing as how it is the only place in Jamaica plain I frequent the restaurant. Ordering for delivery is not ideal as you will wait over a hour for the food. Combo specials are very limited and the fried tempura flakes in all of the rolls are not worth the time. Rolls can be on the small side so order up!

I’m new to the neighborhood and ordered via the foodler app since Kamado received decent reviews on Unilocal– and JP Seafood doesn’t deliver. I ordered 2 Philadelphia maki rolls, and an order of steamed Gyoza. My order took an hour and a half to be delivered with no follow up. The gyoza was cold. No big, I warmed them up. However, the maki was terrible. The rolls fell apart! They were very small, skimpy on the rice(which is why they fell apart) and unbearably salty even without soy sauce. I threw it out. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.

This place is phenomenal. You cannot beat the amount of food for the price and quite frankly the quality is vastly superior to other local establishments such as JP Seafood and even supposedly upper tier joints like Douzo in the back bay. Those places can’t hold a candle. Cash deals are off the charts: $ 12 gets you 3 regular maki rolls and $ 20 gets you 2 specialty house maki. $ 1 cash for individual nigiri and sashimi. The atmosphere is no frills and that is perfect. Great staff. The line here should be out the door so get here now before it explodes.

The food is delicious and at an excellent prince. I can’t say enough about how good the sushi is. The staff is friendly and courteous. Their chicken wings are some of the best I have ever had third best in the city behind Bön Chon and Crave.

I used to enjoy this place a lot more, but two consecutive recent experiences have convinced me that the quality is rapidly going downhill. The fish was a little sweaty and close to room temperature… still tasted ok, and no ill results, but poor texture and a little worrying. Also, the service was bare minimum, and we had to ask for many basics(water, straws, napkins, etc). Cuts and overall quantity, especially for combos, have also gotten smaller since my last review. Overall, it’s not a bad experience perse, but with so many other sushi options in Boston, I no longer think Kamado is worth it.

I have been ordering from here for a while and it was good. I just ordered with a friend and she found a clipped nail in her crazy maki. I will not be ordering from here again. I don’t know how this could have happened. Disgusting.

Love this place. I’d rank the sushi above JP Seafood Café. The Louisiana Roll is especially good… love me some crawfish sushi.

Stopped in here impromptu with the boyfriend one evening. We ordered two rolls — both of which were pretty tasty. Decently priced, would come back here again!

The customer experience with Kamado left much to be desired. The rating of 1 star reflects my frustration as a customer and a commitment to not doing business with Kamado again and also recommending that others steer clear. I’d placed a delivery order through Foodler, with an ETA of 1 hour after the order was placed. No problem. Next, Kamado called me 30 minutes later and said that they were experiencing high order volumes and that my delivery would be delayed. I could understand that, so I asked how long the delay would be. The answer was«about 1 hour», meaning I would have to wait another hour for the food to arrive. What shocked me was that prior to giving the 1 hour estimate the Kamado employee asked whether I’d cancel the order through Foodler. I was surprised because if I wasn’t hungry and I didn’t want food from Kamado, why would I have bothered to place the order in the first place? So, 2 hours after I’d ordered my food, nothing came, food or phone call. I called Kamado to inquire about my order. To my surprise the answer was, «We haven’t started making your order yet. You didn’t cancel your order already? You can cancel with Foodler.» The amount of concern the employee seemed to have for customers, and hungry customers at that, was zero. If a restaurant offers delivery as a service, I feel it should make sure it can handle the volume, or do something for its customers. Dinner is not worth this amount of frustration, so in the future I’ll look to order from somewhere else, and at all costs I will avoid &Kamafk.

Some of the best soy garlic wings in Boston Ive never actually sat down and eaten in the restaurant, despite the fact the staff are all really friendly. I always get the soy garlic wings to go. There are only a couple of places in Boston with better wings. This is the best in JP hands down and for the best price. Can’t speak to anything else on the menu, and why would I have to? If you like chicken you gotta try these wings.

Okay… anyone who gave this place 5 stars for their sushi… just no. You clearly need to eat some better sushi. I ordered the spicy crunchy tuna roll and the Philadelphia roll. I had never ordered from here before and figured they were«safe» choices, pretty hard to screw up but Kamado managed it! The crunchy tuna is NOT fresh and is soggy. There is 0 crunch. The Philly roll has the tiniest pieces of salmon; like barely visible and I am barely able to taste the salmon. Also roll in general is super small; it says 8 pieces per roll but each piece is half a bites worth of food. I also ordered the crab rangoon type wonton things. WTF these things have 0 crab(or should I say imitation crab) in them! All I am eating is fried wonton with a huge dollop of cream cheese at the center. Yuck. All and all so disappointed! I took a chance and ordered from a place I haven’t eaten at before. Boston and the surrounding area has so many better sushi places; why eat here?! The only reason they received 2 stars and not 1 was because the delivery was rather fast on Saturday night, which was pleasant. Food is a one star though!

Used to live a few blocks away, now that I’ve moved I realize just how good this place was. Not date atmosphere by any means and sadly it isn’t quite as good a deal as it was a month ago, but really good sushi! Be adventurous and try all their specialty rolls(particularly the ones with tempura sweet potato). Sad that they don’t deliver to Dorchester!

Good, no-nonsense sushi. This place has had their ups and downs, but it seems like they’ve settled on something fairly consistent, affordable, and predictable. I can’t say much for the dine-in experience, since I’ve never had the inclination to cram myself at one of those small tables for a meal. But for take-out, they’re great. Fast and pleasant.

What the hell are you doing? This place has undergone four changes in scope since landing here. First it was the best sushi joint in JP, then it turned into this weird Asian nori burrito style thing, then it turned back into a sushi place but it was sub par, NOW it’s a sushi/Chinese/whatever place. I don’t know if the owner and his heir are struggling over a giant lever somewhere in the back and every time it gets thrown the place changes into a new type or what… But I assume that is what is happening. It continues to be kinda lame on the inside visually, but I think most people get takeout. The sushi is ok, not great. The quality of the fish is meh but they do give you a lot of it(I personally don’t like oversized slabs of sushi). What makes this place worth going to is that they have these special chicken wings with a choice of hot or garlic-soy glazes. The wings have their own thing going on, not too greasy, clean tasting, and delicious. The problem is, like most anywhere, is that getting good, crispy wings like these delivered ruins them. They steam in the bag and get to your house spongy. If you eat them there(but who goes out to eat anywhere except a bar and orders a bunch of wings to stay? Lonely ass people, I imagine) or pick them up the minute they are done and race home, you win. Maybe they should change it into a wings place next?
