They wanted to keep my dog in a tiny cage barely larger than her for four hours before being groomed. This isn’t a good way to treat dogs. They may groom well, but I don’t know, because I took my dog back after seeing this practice.
If I had just walked in, I’d understand a wait. But I made an appointment a week in advance. There’s no excuse to keep a dog in a tiny cage for four hours. That’s a failure of management, and a bad business practice for customers but especially canines.
To the owners: I did not mean to (and do not believe I did) suggest to leave the dogs roaming freely, but you should get reasonably sized crates and improve scheduling of appointments to avoid unreasonably long waits. I’d be surprised if this is truly industry standard. If you want to beat the competition: bigger crates, shorter waits.

Jenn has done an awesome job with Coltrane! I called her last minute when my former groomer was booked soild. We haven’t looked back. Great service for a good price and i think my pup loves the other animals he can play with there! His cuts are always clean no choppiness. And she always remembers what cuts her clients like

My dogs and I LOVE Pups ‘n Paradise! They always come back happy and feeling dapper with their new, fresh hair-do’s! It is also very reasonably priced.
It comes as no surprise to me that Pup’s is as great as it is after talking to the proprietor Jen. She loves her animals — ALL of them! I’ve even stopped in to kiss Chopper (the shop pig) on the lips while out and about!

Worst cut. I asked for a summer cut but to leave a little length. I even showed a picture. They shaved her. People were asking why our dog was pink and they left this weird poof on the end of her tail…
On top of it all, they charged our credit cars twice and we had to dispute the extra charge…

Made a last minute appointment a few weeks ago to have my boyfriend’s grumpy long haired cat groomed. The cat in question is not the best at self grooming and isn’t in love with being brushed, so he had some dreadlocks that needed to be dealt with.
We dropped him off and were told we’d get a call to pick him up in 3 to 4 hours which seems to be about standard. The shop is pretty small and everything is done out in the open, so it’s fairly loud between the grooming tools and the animals. There’s naturally fur flying everywhere and there are animals in various parts of the shop, but it still managed to seem well cared for and as clean as it can possibly be.
We got a call roughly about 3.5 hours later to pick up the cat and for $ 75, it was well worth it. All of his dreadlocks had been carefully removed, all of his nails trimmed, and he looked ridiculously awesome with his lion cut. I’m not sure there’s anything better than a cat with big fluffy «boots» and a derpily fluffy tail and mostly everything else shaved off of them.

Still a big fan of Pups ‘n Paradise. Jennifer did a great job on our Great Pyrenees, NuNu. She looks beautiful. It was another overall great experience.

I called a few days ago to set up an appointment for my cat to get a hair cut and trim. The owner called me back and was extremely pleasant over the phone. So I set up the appointment to have my cat groomed.
Went in for my scheduled appointment and my poor babe was a little frightened because of the noise from the barking dogs. I thought that might be normal seeing as how I’ve never been to a pet groomer before.
The girl at the front desk was a little rude and pretty much rushed me so I couldn’t ask or give details to how I want him groomed. And seeing as this was my first time getting him groomed, I had hoped to receive better assurances that they could do something other than a lion’s cut on my babe. So… Me not knowing any better, I left him.
They call me to tell me that he is ready. When I go to pick him up, my babe is SOOOOOOOO scared he wouldn’t come out of the cage so I can assess the work that was done! I couldn’t see anything until we got home. My babe wouldn’t even let me hold him!!!
Needless to say, I called back asking if they do anything other than a lion’s cut (thinking that I might give them another chance) and they don’t.
The groomer was amazingly sweet as was the other person who brought my babe to me. But that first girl pretty much made the service suck. If she wasn’t rushing me out of the door and telling me what cut he was scheduled for I think my experience would have been a lot more pleasant.
All I can say is that some people need more training when dealing with customers.

I saw wonderful reviews for this place on Unilocal so I brought my dog in for a quick nail trim, which they said I could walk in for with no appointment. But I never got the service done because when I walked in, there were about 5 dogs in crates barking their heads off, and another tied up standing in the sink all alone, clearly distressed. It was so loud I had a hard time telling the employee what service I needed. The floors were sticky and very dirty, and the entire place smelled horribly like pee. There were two shop cats sleeping on the couch in the waiting area, but the couch itself was so dirty and hairy I wouldn’t have touched it. There was also a large bird cage with two parrots, open and overflowing with bird feces and scraps. The one woman there said she had to call her boss and I would have to wait for 10 minutes for her to come back. But my dog was already distressed in the chaotic and dirty atmosphere. We walked out and I won’t go back. I’m surprised this place has received such good reviews, because I wouldn’t trust my animal to people who care so little about the environment of their business or the comfort of the animals in their care!

I have a two year old Yorkie named «Maximus», and I have taken him to more than a few groomers to get that perfect cut for him with no success until I took him to «Pups ‘n Paradise». I would highly recommend this groomer, my Maximus will surely be going back there for all his groomings…

We’ve been here for doggie nails — quick, easy and friendly.

My dog just needed her nails to be trimmer, so we called and were told that we can walk-​in.
A woman who works in Pups’n’Paradise was very nice, and she trimmed nails very quickly (4min or so) & accurately. She mentioned that she does trimming for 11 years now.
And it cost just 10 $.

I love this place and so does my dog Wilma. The owners are so friendly and extremely flexible with my schedule. My dog Wilma comes out of their shop with her tail wagging and looking and smelling like a million bucks. You can tell these young shop owners really care about the animals in their care. I’ll keep going here as long as we live in the JP, Boston area.

Pups n Paradise are the best! My little dog, Pinky, is 10 lbs of fur, teeth and fear. She pooped on the groomers. Yet, they were kind, calm and professional and succeeded in giving Pinky a bath, a beautiful, shiny short ‘do, and perfectly clipped nails. The price was right, too. The shop is bare bones, but well-​equipped and as clean as a whistle. The groomers were great with all the dogs in the shop and pleasant to work with. I wish them many happy, successful years on this location.

My neighbor has her cockapoo groomed here, and recommended Jen to me. I’ve brought my goldendoodle, Yeti, here twice and have been very pleased both times.
The first time I had no clue what to ask for, so I trusted that Jen would know what to do with the 40-​lb heap of hair my dog had become. I was not disappointed.
It’s also a relief to know that Yeti doesn’t have any negative associations with «going to the groomers.» She trotted through the door happily the last time we came.
I have no experience with other groomers, so I don’t know what other people pay, but $ 73 for a bath, grooming, and a pawdicure seems pretty great to me!

This was a great find in Jamaica Plain! My mother has a 9 year old Shepherd/​Chow mix (lots of hair) who is super sweet but not used to regular grooming. I had been searching around for someone who would not charge a premium because she is like 10% Chow and I guess that breed is on «the list». Jen was awesome with her. She gave her the perfect cut and she looked amazing. She was very quick and the prices are great here. Maggie is almost at the point where she doesn’t mind going to get groomed! I love that the location is central in JP as well. Make an appointment. You wont be disappointed!

I have a 14lbs schnoodle. While he’s a small dog, he’s very feisty when it comes time for grooming. I’ve tried several other places before and have not been pleased, as most groomers ignore our instructions and just buzz all of his hair off. I tried Pups ‘n Paradise this past weekend for the first time and I will be a customer for life. Our dog’s haircut was absolutely perfect! And the groomer was so accommodating. I wish I could turn this rating up to 11!

I like this little spot, and I like the owner/​groomer, Jenn. She’s very friendly, she deals with my rambunctious Pugs, and she seems to really LOVE the pets she works with!
Prices are VERY reasonable, which I admit, is what got me in the door to try a new place. Well, that and the convenient location. Her work, love for animals, and dynamic personality is what keeps us going back.
Why 4 stars instead of 5? Poop. No, really. Poop. First time we went there was poop inside in the small waiting area. I know things get busy, and with only one person doing everything, it’s hard, BUT– scoop the poop. Last time, no poop inside, but there was smeared, dried poop right in the doorway. You HAD to step in it to get in and out of the store.
Also, I know it’s a small thing, but I kinda want a bandana or bow or handkerchief or bread bag tie or something on Lulu and Lucas when they leave. Something that like shouts, «hey, look at me, my Mommy just spent hard earned money to get me cleaned up, so smell me now, tell me how great I look, aren’t I the cutest thing in life?»

This place is a definite hidden gem!!! I have a 4 month old puppy that I was looking to have groomed. I was looking around and of course I love to Unilocal places… so I came across Pup’s n Paradise! Love that it is 10 mins from my house to begin with, when I called I had to leave a message so I was a little skeptical thinking I wasn’t going to get a call back. Well Jen the owner was very prompt on returning her calls. Another reason I called PnP was because I seen a picture with 2 pit-​bulls on on Unilocal,so I figured they were Pit-​bull friendly. As we all know they have a really bad reputation due to the irresponsible care they receive from their non-​experience, irresponsible owners! That’s a whole new topic! lol They are great loyal dogs like any other with the right owner and proper care!
SO… Back to Pnp, Jen returned my call. She was SUPER FRIENDLY and booked us an appointment right away! When dropping my pup off, I found the place to be a cute little spot… It was the perfect location and size for Jen the owner to run a nice small cozy business. Jen showed nothing by love and excitement to meet my pup «SHAMUS»…She have me this welcoming, comfortable and trusting worthy feeling from the moment we met. It was tough to leave my baby for the first time but with such a great first impression, it made it easy for me to leave him.
When Shamus was done, Jen called me to let me know he was ready. Upon picking him up there was several pooches out playing with Shamus which I thought was great for my Shamus. He smelled so gooood and was so clean and fresh… I couldn’t stop hugging and smelling him. Price was great, and Jen being a pit-​bull owner herself gave me some great advise and information on raising a pit-​bull. She also offered to have him dropped off on Wednesdays when she has another pit-​bill pup so they can play and socialize to help them become GREAT DOGS. I thought that was so nice of her! Anyhow, I can go on and on… JEN IS GREAT is all I can say! :)))

It’s so fabulous to have a cat groomer in JP. We took our long-​hair here for a lion cut and he looks as wonderfully ridiculous as you would expect. We were a little concerned because he’s a big strong cat who had never been groomed before, but they handled him just fine, and he seems none the worse for wear. I was impressed that Jen seemed prepared for anything: when I was explaining that the cat had never been groomed before, she indicated that you never know how they’ll react, and she was ready to handle the worst. (Cats, they can be such jerks.)
We’ll definitely bring our long-​hair back for a summer cut next year, too.
