Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning

I first came here on a field trip when I was in the 2^nd grade. They allowed us kids to make ceramic pieces that would later be delivered to us in class, that was almost 22 yrs ago! For months after visiting JCAL, I begged my mom to enroll me in their ceramics classes, we couldn’t afford it but the experience always stayed with me. When I was about 14 yrs old an opportunity arose where I was able to attend JCAL for free and finally take their ceramics course! I made so many pieces, one in particular was this ceramic portrait with a carved scene inside of the frame; a sailing boat in open waters. Sadly, I never was able to go back and claim my last piece because me and my mom ended up having to move suddenly. All in all, JCAL is a Jewel right in the middle of the chaos that is Jamaica Avenue, be sure to visit and enroll your kids in activities… hell, enroll yourself! They offer so many courses in all sorts of arts and crafts, you will love it!

Great place for classes in dance, art, and music.
Also has 2 art galleries, and space for rent.
