Like that they change up the menu and the food is good for the price. Drink specials are on point.

My very first time coming here I fuckin hate it ! Servers took way too long to bring my drinks out first. Their salmon burger wasn’t good at all either. I like their Thai wings and sweet fries. Everything else my friend ordered I had a taste and it wasn’t good. The manager is a dick he is a chubby guy.

I went here last night with my girlfriend the second time ever to give this place another chance as last time service was so slow and my girlfriend was really irritated by our waitress attitude the first time… Anyway We were seated right away and our funny waiter(tall Italian guy) was very professional friendly and attentive… my girlfriend ordered a house salad with chicken which looked so good I kinda wanted to have a salad and I don’t even like salad. Well Done!!!

The menu options are sparse and combinations don’t go together. Wasn’t impressed at all — though the Philly cheese steak wasn’t bad. Wings were over cooked. Where are the grit sticks? This strikes me as new owners completely . Sorry City Rib is gone. Can’t say I’ll be back. Staff was friendly and courteous. Didn’t wait long for food. Empty on a Saturday afternoon. The drinks aren’t great. Sad because this is my hood and was looking forward to better food options.

Came here for my sisters birthday and it was amazing. The beef and shrimp grits was great and rich with flavor. The $ 3 Bellini were also enjoyable. I had the chicken and waffles and it was pretty good. I had a great time but the booth could have been cleaned before we sat down. Other than that great place the owner was trying to take the orders but… yeah just let the waiters do their job.

The hostess was more friendly then our server. We had to greet our sever because he just came to our table and stood there. We placed our drink order. Another party came in took their drink order and they got to place their food order. We’re still waiting for him to return to take our meal order. So far a bad start. He never came so we had to call him over, hes much more attentive to the bigger party that came in. Kinda feels like we were forgotten about. The food wasnt worth it honestly. We’re not going back. Everything was sort of bland. Id recommend our app though. we got the sweet chili thai wings. Those were good. Everything else was mediocre

Sunday I called and placed an order for the chicken quesidillas and Moda burger. I was surprised they delivered and was happy because we had decided to stay in because it was cold out and windy. After about 45 mins I called to check on the delivery… then I got a call from the delivery guy that they WALK with deliveries! Mind you… I live about a good 15 min walk up a big hill from Moda and it was freezing out and windy so I felt really bad he was walking. To make it worst they wrote my address wrong so he was lost. Come On New Management at least give him a bike! Dang! My boyfriend had to meet him half way down the block for the food. Sweet delivery guy and dedicated I might add. We gave him a good tip and the food wasn’t that cold. We warmed it and everything was ok. The chicken quesidillas was excellent!!! The burger was small, hard, and too much burnt onions on it… but the sweet potato fries were good.

I ordered the soup of the day, which was chili. It wasn’t anything to howl over, just some regular chili. Took only 15 minutes to bring out I think. Pretty quick order. The restaurant had just opened so I was the only one at the bar. Establishment has a comfortable atmosphere.

If your looking for a quick drink and something light to eat after work, or right before you head out to your destination, this is the place for you. The drinks are very good and there is a museum of liquor to choose from. However the food menu is very limited and down right boring ! I ordered the shrimp skewers that came with 6 jumbo grilled shrimp and they were extremely salty! I was still hungry but very reluctant to order anything else other than another drink which was delicious. The pricing was ok too. The bartender«Abe» was very friendly and attentive.

If your in the mood for some home cooked food this is a great place to go. The sirloin steak is now a flank but delicious none the less. The accompanying mashed potatoes are superb. The Pene marinara is good because it comes with vegetables and your choice of meat but this is not your average marinara. I personally prefer my sauce to be less spicy. There was no mention that it would be spicy. This turned me off. I personally do not like it spicy and had there been a warning that it was not a traditional marinara I would not get it. Overall the service is good and the servers are polite. All around the drinks are AMAZING. If your lactose intolerance stay away from the appetizers, the majority are filled witch cheese so not friendly to us. I would visit the place for the appetizers, flank steak and drinks.

The service is very slow.. It took a long time to get everything.. I had the light jerk chicken meal. …first of all why would you light jerk anything.. It’s all or nothing when it comes to jerk… but the hot wings were ok and the mac and cheese was good.. Also the music in this place was too loud.. Not a good place for a date…

This place is very nice and clean. Bathrooms are very clean as well. A lot of space a really good bar and excellent bar tender named Andrea. Drinks were good as well no problems there. A friend of mine ordered nachos and that was probably the worst excuse for nachos I’ve ever had in my life. Movie theater nachos are way better than that. Stale chips and spray cheese. If the food was as good as everything else in this place it’d be a five star bar.

I went with a friend for lunch right when they opened. The restaurant was practically empty. We sat at the bar and placed our orders to go. The waiter was very nice and offered us water as we waited for our food. The restaurant is a good size and could accommodate large parties of people. The wait for our food felt long. It was about 30 minutes but our food was fresh and hot. The Parmesan wings and sweet potato fries were very good. The chicken quesadilla was a large size and easily could have fed two people. The only drawback was the wait for the food. I would definitely try them out again.

Let’s get right to it. Please keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about this type of ish. Please keep in mind this review is for my visit on Super Bowl Sunday aka the unofficial holiday of sports junkies. I arrived at around 6:15, kick was at 6:30. I am shocked to see there are exactly 9 patrons around the bar. I ease in anyway thinking it’s still early. There are quite a few folks in orange Polo shirts who assumingly work there but they continue to chat before tending to me and my home girl. When we are finally addressed the host/seater/greeter asks if we have reservations, which we didnt. Fair enough of a question but ironically only 2 tables of about 10 were occupied. We opted to sit at the setups off the side of the bar. Minutes later we finally get someone over to assist us. She informs us that they have specials.(wings or nachos and beer bucket for $ 15) Great! My homie got the nachos, minus the chilli(she’s team no meat) and I opted for the wings. About 15 .in later the food is on the table. Lady Gaga takes the stage and slays the National Anthem(team Aries) and then I took a bite into the god forsaken wings. Dry, no flavor and uncooked as in struggling to separate meat from bones. I have NEVER done a review just to throw salt. After all this is someone’s hustle but I will also NEVER be okay with sub part service that cheats me out of yummy food and my hard earned $. I called the young lady over and attempted to engage her in a conversation regarding said wings and attempt to get some utensils ans napkins which were still missing. She seemed spacy ans disconnected giving zero fucks about my issue. As she was walking away she mumbled something about all the tickets in the back. If all 25 ppl in attendance ordered 4 items from the kitchen I should have still been afforded better service because as a business you plan for days like this. Again, it’s Super Bowl Sunday. It’s also in the Constitution that on said day I should be able to get decent wings and libations. Apparently MODA didn’t get the memo. I would have been better staying my tush at home and making wings myself. If I’m on my death bed and MODA I’d offered as a last meal… please let me go in peace and just remember all the bomb ass meals I had while life was still good.

I used to frequent City Rib(CR) rather often so I was very interested to see what it’s new incarnation, Moda Grill would be like. Saturday night, circa 8pm: The restaurant looks exactly the same as it did when it was CR: too dark and half empty. However, a rather cheerful and happy hostess takes me to one of the hard, archaic looking booths so I can wait for my dining partner. I’m in luck, on the way in I’m informed that there is a jazz event happening shortly. LIVEJAZZ?! CR never had that! Long story short & abrupt switch in verb tenses: I had a quesadilla and(multiple) sangria’s. The quesadilla was huge and tasted really yummy. I got full from it and it was only meant to be an appetizer. The drinks were good too, that’s why I helped myself to more than one =) I threw on a little extra Tabasco and it was perfect. The jazz? Wonderful! It was a 5 piece band fronted by some really talented people. Their selections were superb too! Jill Scott, The Gap Band, Janet Jackson — love that! I only felt bad that they were in such an empty venue. A few more people showed up later on, but still, they were good, I felt bad for the piddly applause they got at the end of their numbers. Service was on par with CR — friendly, disappearing for long stretches of time, but adequate. *Bonus points for hearing Lana Del Rey playing during one one of my trips to the ladies room. I’ll definitely be back.

Moda Grill has recently reopened their doors and is under new management. The layout is still the same and the cocktails has not change. The menu has since changed. There’s no more BBQ entrees. It’s been replaced with healthier options. I didn’t try the food as of yet. I came here solely for their libations. There’s specials here all week long. Today I took advantage of their 2 for 1 special on house liquor only on Saturday. It’s an all day event.

Stopped by on a Saturday a few weeks ago, wasn’t really crowded at all. I remember passing by this place when it was City Rib, and now it’s under a new name and different management. We were there to take advantage of the 2 drink deal they had going on which was decent nothing really special in comparison to most bars in Brooklyn and Queens. I had two rum and coke, and on the real I don’t know who was behind the bar that night but damn those drinks were strong as hell, more rum than coke which isn’t always a bad thing. Luckily the food came to soak some of it up. Their chicken fingers were ok, not spectacular and the fries were sort of mushy but the pasta with carrots and broccoli in a Parmesan tomato sauce was perfect. Jamaica needs more establishments like this but from what I heard about it’s predecessor they may need to bring the brunch and comfort food items back on the menu.

All I can say it’s… No big deal!!! As a costumer my opinion is…: It’s good to have this place back! With a different name, different menu. If you want to change that neighborhood just support this restaurant and you will see more restaurants around and your area will change for good. Drinks are the same, some faces are new and most of them are the same. Two thumbs up for Regan.(CO-OWNER). Just be careful when you order the 2 X 1 special drink. Make sure you drink the first one very fast or the other one will be watery; because they will serve both drinks at the same time. There are so many specials each day and also discounts for seniors, MTA employers, police and veterans. One star less because the bathroom needed to be clean. Mirrors, toilets, lavatory. Need to work more on the menu. Next time we will review the service.

Yes, Moda Grill(the old CityRib Bar & Restaurant) is opened(official opening was December 10th) and while the inside looks pretty much like CityRib(and that is good), the menu has changed considerably and is more streamlined with some healthy choices. Gone from the old City Rib menu are the BBQ menu of baby back ribs(in fact, no BBQ at all), as well as sides such as the really good grit sticks & calamari. Also no collard greens. A more American style menu is available. The new menu has been pared down to various sandwiches & burgers(including healthy choices such as veggie burger made with Kale(very good), salmon burger(also good) and a turkey burger). Main courses include Grilled Chicken Breast, Penne Pasta with Veggies, Grilled Salmon, Sliced Steak Fajitas, Sirloin Steak and a few other choices. You can see the complete menu on their Facebook Page. Drinks at the old CityRib were always a favorite and Moda Grill kept many of the specialty drinks like the fabulous Moonshine Cooler(a favorite), Rufus King Cocktail, Parsons Collins and have added the Van Wyck Blue Twist and the really good, Jamaica Green Sensation(a favorite of mine) made with Vodka & lime cordial. The old City Rib Spiked Lemonade is still on the drink menu as well. They also have some great specials throughout the week and weekends, including Latin Night Wednesdays and Ladies Night Thursdays. A biggie for foodies is the weekend. Buy 1 menu favorite item and get the 2nd one a whopping half off with purchase of two beverages. Considering that Moda Grill’s price are very reasonable, this is a deal. Plus there is a 10% discount for Civil Service &LIRR/MTA employees(with ID). Discounted parking is available. Now for come constructive criticisms. Some of the favorite items from CityRib should be brought back like the Grit sticks, calamari, sweet potatoe fries and the homemade potatoes chips. The french fries need major improving. I am not a fan of thick french fries, but if you are going to use them, make sure they are crispy. Both times here, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, I found the fries to be somewhat soggy even after I asked them to make the extra crispy, since the day before I found them too soggy. Also better buns, say multi-grain buns, for the healthy choices should be used. I was not a fan of the buns that were used for the veggie and salmon burger, reminded me of Wonder Bread buns. One of the great things about CityRib, which for some odd reason never took off, was there great Sunday Brunch. Their Cornflake & Coconut Crusted French Toast was too die for, their eggs Benedict, really good. When I went there today(Sunday), I asked if they had a brunch menu and they told me that all they have right now is French toast with eggs, choice of ham or bacon and french fries. Being a vegetarian, I opted out of the meat. But I found the French Toast, while it had an interesting taste(maybe vanilla), it was very soggy like it was not even put on a griddle. There was no outside crispness to it at all and of course the fries were not crisp either. Was disappointed especially considering how great CityRib’s Sunday brunch was. This needs some work. I know Moda Grill just opened and they are probably still in the experimental phase, but they should take what worked well for CityRib and incorporate that while still being putting their own personal stamp on the new venue. Hopefully over time some kinks can be worked out, but overall, I am glad that the old CityRib has risen from the ashes to become Moda Grill, something this community needs badly. I suggest to all of you to go out and give Moda a shot. It still is a great place to hang out and have drinks and boy, are their drinks great! Moda Grill is also having a New Year’s Eve Party, which I think is very reasonable compared to what you pay anymore to go out on New Year’s Eve. Regan Uriart, the manager of the old CityRib and now co-owner of Moda Grill, told me that they will have a DJ spinning music on Friday and he plans on bringing in various type of live music on Saturdays, which I think is what made CityRib popular. I was totally bummed when CityRib closed, I thought is was a great place in the neighborhood to hang out, have some good drinks and socialize, since there are really such local neighborhood establishments like this, so I was happy to see it revitalized so soon as Moda Grill. Give it a shot folks. One of the complaints by many residents are a lack of nice sit-down establishments, but then when a place like CityRib opens, folks don’t really support it. So come on out and check out Moda Grill.

Actual first official Unilocal review… I’m actually in the building. Onion soup always looked so delicious to me. Oh that cheese! I’m a cheese fan. Finally had my first bowl here. It was very good. I’m not a chicken finger girl but these chicken fingers are DELICIOUS! I asked for the chipotle mayo along with the traditional honey mustard. I love this place. The staff is friendly & personable. So glad their back under new ownership with friendly faces. Did I mention the great music?
