Hungry beware! This is the worse place I’ve had to eat at in YEARS! They prey on the hungry and unfamiliar with JFK. Where do I begin: 1st — the service. Simply horrible. It’s a busy place which I get but it’s also the kind of place that if you sit at an a dirty table simply waiting for them to clean the server may ask you to move to another table. ‘this one is a mess, you wanna move over there’ 2nd — EVERYTHING takes a very long time. It’s the kind of place you ask the server to wait once you get the bill because you could end up waiting 15 minutes for them to come and pickup the check. I worked in a restaurant before. 15 tables with three servers should be that big of a hassle. And did I mention the food? Served cold and tasted worse than fast food. Also keep in mind that NYSB across from Gate 8 shares the same kitchen but at least has a better bar. This is all located in terminal 8 of JFK

Bartender didn’t know how to make drinks. Not even the one on the menu. «I can do shots and stuff.» I think the place was understaffed because there was a long wait to take my order and I saw no one in sight. I finally settled on chips and guacamole because I didn’t want to wait too long for food(the kitchen was backed up too). The guac was good but the chips looked like they were the last bit of tortilla chips in a bag and they just dumped them on the plate. Okay cool. Not worth the $ 12. And a shot of liquor is $ 15, double is $ 18.

The service is a 3 rating and our server was a prick. My friend deemed the fish tacos he ate as «the best he ever had.» And my salmon with sautéed spinach(substituted the potatoes) was not far behind in

The staff here is the worst. Very unattentive, impolite, disinterested and uncaring about customers. It took slmost 20 minutes before we were attrnded to. The tables were not cleared nor cleaned… just messy. Then we finally asked for table to be cleaned so ee vould sit, waiter had a smart attitude about it. Wont go back there again.

Menus posted outside seemed appetizing enough. Only two other groups seated, seemed like a good place to try before our flight. Went in and sat ourselves due to no waitress in sight… She came by pretty soon after. Brought three of us… Two menus. Stated the food takes about 30 minutes and did we have time. We did so we said yes. She then disappeared for about 30 minutes without ever coming to get a drink order or order. When we tried to flag her down we were ignored. Waited for another 10 minutes before leaving having never been served or a knowledged. Skip the hassle. Go to the food court instead.

Very poor. Ordered a custom omelet and everything was wrong except the eggs. Not good quality.

The worst. The girl behind the bar couldn’t be bothered to take my order. After waiting nearly 10 minutes(despite me saying I was in a rush) I went to the Sports Club(where they got me food and a drink in under 5 minutes, despite being busy). Pass.

For a place where you go for bar food and drinks, you do not want to sit at the actual bar! Who would’ve thought! Still here waiting for my burger as I see other people seated after me and already chomping down on their food. Not a happy camper. You would think that being in an airport that you’d have a little faster service. Lame sauce!!! Update: Looks like they didn’t even put my burger order in to begin with… Even more lame!!! No amount of alcohol can redeem a man craving a burger!!!

Worst eggs bene I’ve ever had. It somehow came out cold after I waited no more than 10 minutes. The entire meal was flavorless except the extra amount of salt on the home fries. I told the staff I didn’t care for the meal and she had nothing to say as she took away my less than half eaten meal. To top it off OJ is $ 5! What a rip off. This place knows they have you, I would have gotten up and left if I had more time.

Overall the food and prices were both just okay and the beer selection was weak. The service, however, was decent and the crab cake appetizer was a surprising standout. Nothing special here, but if you’re stuck in the airport, you could certainly do much worse.

My meal was surprisingly good. Got a veggie burger + provolone cheese and a side salad. Pattie was on the healthier side, bun was solid, and the salad was far fresher than others I’ve had at airports(nothing to write home about, but enough to write a review.) Would recommend a different dressing than balsamic. Much more reasonably priced than Bobby Vans or Soho Bistro. Service was airport service. Always slower than you want it to be. All in all this beats out the other options in Terminal 8.

Wtf story… Stopped in to be seated, there’s about 6 tables occupied, about 25 tables empty. I ask the host/waiter if I could be seated in a specific table in the back… he says no and points somewhere else. OK, bad enough. I say that’s ok and start to walk away… I hear him say behind my back as I walk away, ‘that’s OK we don’t need you anyway’. Really? you’re going to pull an attitude? Don’t even bother with this place. Walked 100 feet to the food court and got better service from guys behind assembly line at the pizza place. Go there and feel more appreciated.

The food was pretty good(I had the goat cheese salad and side of fries) but toward the end of my drink, I noticed some disgusting substance at the bottom of my blue moon mug. I asked for the manager to bring it to his attention and he took it from my hands, asked what the drink was, and walked away. The server came back for him and said he thought it was sediment from the beer. I drink blue moon all of the time and never experienced that. The manager just handled it awfully in my opinion. No apologies or anything. Gross.

Food was fine by me. If you want a sit-down restaurant style place to eat at an airport, this is as good as it gets. I was happy to find it.

I don’t recall ever enjoying a meal at an airport. Food is always overpriced and tastes like something that came from the freezer section. O’Neals is absolutely no exception. I came here because the other deli-styled eateries had crazy lines and were somewhat far-away from my gate. I got pancakes and a side of bacon(crucial part of a balanced diet). I wish the waitress told me how much food to expect. I got three dinner-sized pancakes and only managed to eat half of one. As for the bacon, my guess is, this was the cheaper version of the Oscar Meyer microwaveable bacon. It was beyond dry, brittle, and barely edible. My bill came up to $ 20. Clearly money well spent. This was a business trip so my company picked up the tab. Which makes me only slightly bitter.

Came through here early in the morning before a flight out to LA. Got an egg sandwich for $ 8. I didn’t find the service as bad as other people have mentioned, and pricing wasn’t great, but I mean come on we’re at an airport. The sandwich itself wasn’t amazing, but also wasn’t terrible; did the job and wouldn’t be my first choice, nor my last. Photo included.

Friendly enough service, but a bit pricey. Good place to grab a couple of quick drinks before your flight to get the vacation started off right. I prefer NY sports bar a few doors down, but if that is full(like it was when I settled on O’Neals) this is your next best bet.

The best thing about eating at O’Neals is that you’ll hopefully be catching a flight to a destination… where you can get better food. Ok, ok, it’s not really all that bad. There are few sit down, non food court options excluding a Bobby Van’s(of all restaurants!) in this area of JFK. And if you have time to kill before a flight, O’Neals provides a comfortable enough area to wait. You should be able to hear any announcement regarding flights from inside. Considering that we were one of the first batch of early morning customers, I was surprised to discover that their plate of fruit wasn’t available. Healthy eating, be gone so I opted instead for an egg sandwich. Meh. I’ve experienced better. I can’t really improve upon that highly accurate description. You’ll find other standard breakfast items(assuming they are in stock) and delivery time from order to plate arrival was fast. They seemed slightly confused when I asked for tea instead of coffee, so confused as to not even bring me tea. Of course, I won’t mind going back to O’Neals as it likely indicates I’m en route to a vacation destination. As a destination in and of itself, you can do better than O’Neals.

I read the reviews and they were not good. I agree with the others… this is an Irish Bar… where are the beers on tap? I really did not care because I was not having beer. When I first walked in… I sat at the bar and someone brought me over a menu. I then sat and waited. I looked around and there were only 3 other people sitting at two tables. Hmmm… so far the other reviews were right. Then she came back and asked me for my order. I ordered a scotch, a salad and some soup. First the Johnny Walker Black Bottle was completely empty. I then ordered a Chivas and she could not find the bottle. I pointed out the bottle to her. Okay here comes my drink… oh wait she is going to the computer to punch in my order… okay now my drink is going to come… oh wait she is leaving now… ten minutes goes by and no drink… so frustrating. Shouldn’t she have poured my drink before disappearing? You would think. She then comes back and tells me that she will get my drink soon… I am afraid to ask what soon is… I finally do get the drink and then my salad and soup show up at the same time. I had asked for my soup first… I guess I am not going to get anything I want. The soup was very good. I ordered the French Onion. The salad was also nice too… the lettuce was very fresh and not wilted. Then while I was sitting there the real bartender showed up and she did not seem happy that I was sitting there in her area. The woman who was taking care of me was not the bartender, which makes sense why it took me so long to get my drink. She probably had to place it in the computer and then she waited until she got it on her screen… just kidding… i am being sarcastic. The new bartender then had to stock the bar completely… she was busting her ass… I could not believe that the bar was not stocked the night before. I wanted a beer but I had to order it from the waitress who then had to walk around the bar to get it. Only to find out that the bottles were just stocked and they were warm. Yum… nothing like some warm beer to wash a meal down. This place is definitely slow and not fully stocked(at least for my habits). The food was good but the service was definitely slow. But this is an airport and the choices are not vast, so suck it up and stop in here. Trust me the reviews of the other places in the JFK American Terminal are not any better then this place.
