This review is for the main phone number and information line for Save A Thon stores, which is ridiculously outdated and uninformative. Also, this review is about their Customer Service, which is more of a disservice. I called today to see where the closest stores were. The automated line informed me that there are two stores in Queens, NYC. One on Jamaica Ave, nd the second on Myrtle Ave. I dialed the Myrtle Ave number, which has been disconnected. So I called the main line again to get Customer Service. I was told the Myrtle Ave store closed. When I pointed out that the voice recording was wrong, the Customer Service representative transferred me to another representative without letting me know I was being transferred. The second representative told me that location closed ‘years ago’, then said the other person ‘told me that already ‘. No apologies given at any point, I was told they don’t know how to change the recording… I feel they should hire a tech to fix it! It’s not too hard to change an automated outgoing message.

For the price mark the material is good, They have a great selection of notions, trims, zippers and thread. The customer service isn’t great, so if your not familiar with the store and you need help come here with lots of patience.

This store has amazing prices on fabric. Some examples are wool coating 60″ for $ 4.99/yd; solid jersey $ 2.99/yd; basic cotton fabric $ 1.99/yd. They also carry party supplies like plastic mirrored cake toppers in letters and numbers as well as anniversary toppers like a gold 50th. They had the teflon sewing machine foot that other stores do not have for sewing leather and vinyl.

I walked into this store having no prior knowledge of fabrics, but with an idea(photograph) of what I wanted. The store is big, they have a ton of fabrics as well as cake decorating supplies, house items and party supplies; A little bit of everything. I immediately noticed the African fabrics and walked right over to that section. After about 10 minutes of confusion Trevor walked over to me and asked if I needed assistance. I guess I must have looked really lost lol I showed him what I had in mind and he was extremely helpful with finding similar patterns and colors. He actually picked both of the fabrics I’ll be using for my outfit and I really like them. Another customer was walking by and overheard us chatting and certified that Trevor had a good eye and I could trust him. Not too sure what the price point is supposed to be for African fabric but I paid $ 14 for 3 ½ yards, I didn’t think that was too bad. I will return

This store located on the second floor of a building on Jamaica Ave with an entrance on a side street is a craft paradise. Walking along the Ave to another destination, I happened to look up and see the big Save-A-Thon sign and being the bargain shopper I am I had to check it out. I admit as I walked up the stairs I was not expecting much, but boy was I wrong. This place has everything! There were sewing machines and all of the notions you could name. My only complaint was there wasn’t anyone there to give me any help with the machines on that day. They have lots of great fabrics at low prices and I was really excited to see this because all of the fabric stores that I used to frequent along Jamaica Ave have closed long ago. I will definitely be back for some of these steals. They have a good selection of yarn and knitting supplies. They carry the usual lines you can find in Michael’s, A.C. Moore and JoAnne Fabrics, but at lower prices. I spent most of my time at the table stacked with Lion Brand where I found ten skeins of Lion Brand Nature’s Choice for 1.99 each… Great Deal!!! I will definitely be back because I want to spend more time there checking out the lace, ribbons and flowers etc.

So I went and blew $ 55 lol I went there with the 20 for 40 voucher and still paid $ 35. The woman behind the counter went from friendly welcome face to «Here we go» at the mention of my coupon, and pointedly ignored the rest of my inquiries during my trip(ran into her in the aisle a few times, asked for diff fabrics and got b*** face from her), but it was STILL a 5 star day because the rest of the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They pointed out where I could save money, and gave me tips for my project. The fabric cutter guy Trevor is MUCH nicer than he seems, def a go to for any questions. The store is well organized, a great selection and so many $ 1 steals! I have no complaints ^^

I love coming here. Especially with my Unilocal coupon. I’ve used about 5 so far. I think the employees know me by face when they see me. They already know I’m coming with my coupon, but they’re always nice to me. At first, I used to come here for yarn, when I used to crochet and knit a lot, but then I discovered Smileys on the opposite end of Jamaica Ave, which has WAY better prices and MUCH more of a selection. So then I took up sewing and this place feeds my crafting habit nicely. They always have fabric outside by the door for $ 1.00/yd and I always pick up something– if not everything– I need from that selection. Jersey knits, fleece, cotton, beautiful colors and textures… not the ugly rejects that no one wanted to buy. They don’t have EVERYTHING, but if you wanted to get started making a few things, they have your basics. As long as they keep having Unilocal deals, I’ll keep buying them and keep coming here.

Tiny little place jammed with fabric. Especially for the New York area, prices are incredibly low. Small but attractive selection of yarn; VERY limited notions(you may not find matching thread, for example). Definitely a stop whenever I’m in Jamaica.

This place is amazing, how has it not been reviewed yet? Probably because it’s in the middle of a sketchy area of Jamaica on the 2nd floor of a building, that’s why. If you can handle walking through the ghetto and the fact that google maps gives you the wrong location, go in here and buy a bunch of great fabric and you will never shop at one of those snotty awful Manhattan places again. I’ve never paid more than 5 dollars a yard here for pretty high quality fabric, in fact, I ran out of a fabric I bought here for $ 1.99 a yard and I found it online(they were sold out) for 12.99/yd. Don’t go here and post nasty shit about the bad customer service or the fact nobody kissed your ass, complimented your shoes and transported you into an overpriced fabric wonderland, you are getting fabric for 2 bucks — if you want pretentious shop girls and $ 20 a yard fabric that you are going to use for that sewing class project you’re never going to look at again, go to Mood. If you want decent, inexpensive fabric followed by some golden krust, this is your move.
