ANOTHERJAMAICAPOSITIVE: VINTAGECURRY’S OUTDOOROASISPATIO Back in May, I reviewed the very good Vintage Curry(87-)77168 P), British Style Indian( ) and raved about it. When I went, it was not very warm that day and they actually have an outdoor patio for dining, as far as I know the only outdoor dining in Jamaica. Well, today(6.11.16) it was extremely warm and sunny and I had a taste for Indian, so I figured I could have Indian and eat outdoors as well, which any chance I can eat outdoors, I opt for it. Well, Vintage Curry has first done such an amazing job on the outside of the restaurants with all kind of plant and flowers, but when I walked into the outdoor patio, I felt I was not even in Jamaica, let alone right below noisy Hillside Avenue. Sitting in that very peaceful outdoor space, I could rarely hear nothing on Hillside and since Vintage Curry is on 168 Pl, a not very much traveled street, there is rarely any cars going by. I felt so at peace there. I ordered the Shrimp Vindaloo Curry, which came with basmati rice and I order Naan. The Vindaloo was delicious and spicy and had about 7– 8 big shrimp. And I don’t know how they make their Naan, but it is so good and large. Since the weather is now nice, check out Vintage Curry and sit outside and chill-out. Great food, good service and a peaceful outdoor oasis.

This is probably the best restaurant in hillside and Jamaica. The only dark side about the restaurant is that it’s not on hillside av a few steps inside 168th place. However, the food is just bombb!!! Definitely try chicken tikka puri, balti bhuna And their curries are just damn good. I also recommend trying out the kheer. The biriyani was decent.

There is so much that has changed since the last time I went to this restaurant! The enviroment is a bit tiny but very well clean and well organized. Besides the sitting area upstairs, they now also have a outdoor seating area which by the way is the most gorgeous and beautifull place decorated with lights and candels! The music is also great as well! The food you will eat over here is nothing like the kind of food you will eat in any other Indian resturant, mainly because it’s very unique and amazing. Even if you don’t like their service or the enviroment you would most certainly go back for the food As far as we speak about the service, its simply amazing as well. The food arrived on time and was simply amazing. Overall, if anyone wants to try something besides Sagar for once, you guys have got to give this place a shot!

Haven’t been disappointed by the food the few times I’ve been. The tandoori is yummy, the fried rice tastes good without being too greasy, the saag Paneer is tasty and full of spices, and the chicken Tikka Puri is great.

I’ve ordered both delivery and takeout from V.C. and found the food to be delicious on both occasions! I’ve ordered chicken tikka, fish curry, saag paneer and chicken samosa from V.C. and I plan on making this my go-to place for reliably good delivery. There is outdoor seating also, which adds a romantic and refreshing addition to their simple yet tasty services. Check them out sometime! Oh, I love the fact that they delivered to the 150’s streets from their location on 168th Place, contrary to other restaurants in the same proximity.

Good, attentive service. We got the chicken tikka, the beef sizzler, and one naan. The chicken tikka is good but the beef sizzler is mediocre. The beef was overcooked and had a chewy texture. It reminded me of any beef & peppers dish typical of Chinese restaurants, except I’ve had much better versions before. Nothing about the restaurant really warrants the menu prices; not the quantity/quality you get, not the location, not the décor. I think they were running some promotion and we were given a 10% discount, which was nice, but the menu prices are high for Jamaica. Vintage Curry is a good choice if you’re in the neighborhood & need a meal, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Seriously delicious flavorful food. Vintage chicken fried rice was amazing as was just about everything we had. Chicken Vindaloo, chicken chat, chicken puri, dumkath,(the pot pie of India), tikka masala. We will certainly be back soon. The groupon made this an incredible value but would gladly come back to sample everything else at cost. This neighborhood needs more quality establishments like this instead of the ridiculous amount of fried chicken joints!

I went here with my girlfriend after finding it on Unilocal and must say I had a really good experience there. The customer service was really good and the dining area was very nice. The food was cooked well and I will be eating from here again. I Definitely recommend his place.

No doubt the service was amazing. That’s the only reason why I gave such rating. I ordered vegetarian samosa which was complimented by mint and sweet chutneys. Both were watery and the mint was soo sweet. The samosa had no flavor whatsoever but it was made to order as I could tell. For the main course I ordered the chicken Hyderabadi biryani with cucumber raita. The raita had sugar in it and was not edible. I’ve never seen raita with mustard seeds, usually with cumin? I asked for cilantro to put into the yogurt. The server was tremendously nice to bring it but it was spoiled. The biryani was okay nothing to brag about. The biryani came out with a garnishment of a cummerbund with was freezer burned. I am not sure if I will be coming back but the service was fantastic for sure. The other thing which is a little inconvenient is at the main restaurant seating area is one flight of stairs up, which is difficult if you are pregnant or have some type of disability trying to get up the stairs

I had ordered chicken tikka puri & hyderabadi biryani lamb. I would HIGHLY recommend it. It was so good that I actually ordered it for my friend as well. The price is pretty good too. I also tried their Indian snacks before it was very good. Definitely worth going.

Wow! This place has the best Indian food I ever ate! The service is also excellent. I’m glad I found this new neighborhood spot! All the food was fresh and tasty. It is equivalent to Baluchis(I think even better)! I’ve been to many top notch Indian restaurants all over the city such as Mint and Tamarind etc. Vintage Curry is on par with all of them. We ordered the samosa, biryani, lamb and tikka masala. The gents that work there are also very attentive. I highly recommend this place!

Orderd Chicken tikka and paneer tikka masala with garlic and plain naan. The food was cold, the naan tasted rubbery… the paneer was not cut. No spices in either dish it taste like tomato sauce. Highly do not recommend ordering from this place!

Ordered from seamless. Took a little over an hour which seems long, but it was communicated and I was okay with the wait. Overall the food was a little pricey but delicious. We ordered the chicken korma, chicken tikka puri, and garlic naan. Chicken korma was creamy and sweet with the right amount of spices, tikka puri was interesting-dry spiced chicken stuffed in a wrap-never had anything like that but enjoyed it. Garlic naan was good but wasn’t as garlicky.

Vintage Curry exceeded my expectations and has filled the void Baluchi’s closing left when they closed down. Chicken tikka put I was especially good. The vindaloo was excellent, although the spice exceeded my expectations and might have be to much for some. Chicken makhani was sweeter than expected but a good contrast from the vindaloo. Samosas were solid. Delivery came in the estimated time of an hour. Overall the food was great but on the pricey side.

I decided to come here with my brother for lunch after reading the excellent Unilocal reviews with high ratings. We were sat upstairs in a charming room that makes you feel right at home. They brought up the starter chicken tikka puri with crispy bread coupled with the chicken in tikka sauce inside and our minds were blown at how amazing it was! The mango lassis were rich and creamy, super satisfying. We had the Hyderbadi lamb biryani which was pretty spicy and the shrimp Kashmiri biryani which was very sweet and filled with fruits mildly spicy but very enjoyable. And we had the Balti Bhuna curry and saag paneer curry which were delicious with the garlic naan. This place definitely is building a strong reputation for themselves and they do not disappoint. Best indian food i’ve ever had so far in NY!

We stumped upon this little hidden gem on a late Saturday night. Upon entering, a tiny host desk tuck in front of the kitchen, the host directed us upstairs where all the tables, except for one was reserved for a party. We proceed to order our lamb curry and a goat biryani after seeing all the reviews mention that rice was not included with the entrée. It took a little longer than usual for the food to arrive at our table. We were surprise to see a plate of plain steamed biryani rice come onto the table, now we got two rice dishes. They gave us a naan on the house, which was really generous of them. All in all it was too much food for the two of us. Despite the lagging wait for our food to come, I have to give these guys credit though. With the party going on and all… I am pretty confident in saying that their food seem freshly made when it got to our table. I have been to too many divey Indian restaurants were food is just reheated in the microwave, so this is definitely a nice little bonus. On our way out, we chatted up with the staff, who were probably waiting on us to leave and close for the night, we were told that they have outdoor seatings also available for parties. So far so good. Will definitely be back. Great new addition to hillside

I am an Indian food lover and I do have trouble finding that in my neighborhood. I’ve been to London, and had the most amazing Indian food there so when I discovered this place on my grubhub listing, I was more than thrilled. I placed my order which was Naan, Shrimp Puri, and Vindalo Curry. The total came out to $ 30 and there was also an additional charge for the distance of my house, but it wasn’t a huge deal for me. I just thought $ 30 was a lot knowing Indian food proportions aren’t that big. Anyways, it told me my order should arrive in 35 – 45 minutes. Fine. I was just excited about the food. Turns out that my order arrived a hour and thirty minutes later! What is that?! The delivery guy who was so rude called me and asked me where to go if he was on 75th avenue. No apologies. No anything and this was at the 1 hour mark of waiting for my food. I didn’t know I quit my day job to become this guy’s Google maps. I asked him as a delivery man, how is he asking me for directions when I don’t know exactly where he is. He told me that his gps is not working… So call the customer rather than the restaurant?! I called the restaurant to tell them what happened and politely asked if they could give the delivery man directions. They apologized and told me they would. Another twenty minutes go by and still no food. I called the restaurant and he said the guy should have been here by now. No duh. He could have also offered a discount on my order or at least remove the distance charge. Nope. He said he’d call back and follow up with me. Waited another 10 minutes and my food finally turns up. This guy had his hand out and lingered as if I was supposed to give him tip. Was he out of his mind!!! Another 15 minutes after the restaurant called me back and asked me if I got my food. I told them I did. No apologies at this point from the delivery man or the restaurant. My food was cold by the time it got to me and he naan soggy. The curry was delicious and spicy as well as the Shrimp Puri. Regardless this was not worth any of the hassle. I’d rather have just waited to get awesome authentic Indian food in Jackson heights for half the price and better service. Plus — the curry did not come with rice. What is that? What am I supposed to eat curry with had I not ordered the naan?

I don’t know what the previous person was talking about the chicken tikka puri was the bomb! My most favorite is the balti bhuna… the name sounds awesome and it’s even served in a dish shaped like balti. The service is awesome! Overall I had a good time, and can’t wait for the outdoor to open for the summer, definitely worth coming back to
