Fiddleheads is a Central Jersey Gem. It’s cuisine is fresh, inventive, and tasty. It is reasonable priced, with a warm and pleasing atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation before your arrival — It can tend to be busy, especially on weekends and Wednesdays. The owners are friendly and welcoming to everyone, whether it’s your first time ever, or your first time this week. From what I’ve seen, most patrons are repeat customers. The menu changes to keep seasonal flavors on the menu, but there are many classic standards that you know will always be on the menu. We love brunch – it’s always a tough choice among the skillets, the steak medallions and sweet potato hash and the benedicts. None of them ever disappoint. Wednesday is burger night. Most other nights offer a more fine dining experience, but Wednesdays are for delicious burgers. I would keep going, but I’m afraid this is starting to sound like an advertisement. Full disclosure: I DO know the owner, but only because I eat here frequently enough to have gotten to know them.

After several tries, the food always seems unseasoned and bland. The portions also are quite small. Sadly, not a place we care to bring our guests to anymore as it has been disappointing.

Another awesome dinner at Fiddleheads for New Years Eve. We were a party of 7 at first than a party of 9, Brian was very accommodating . A five course fixed price dinner for $ 65 was well worth the price. The staff was very accommodating with the amount of wine we had brought, even placing the extra bottles in the refrigerator and placing what we were drinking in ice buckets. One of my friends had the venison and said it was delicious, there was not one complaint about any of the courses. The swordfish that I had was amazing, I don’t know how they keep it so moist. Another favorite main course was the salmon, it was mentioned that it was the best he ever had eaten, and he eats salmon once per week. The asparagus soup was perfect and seasoned to perfection. The desserts were all delicious especially the warm pineapple upside down cake, I could of eaten another one. Fiddleheads has a perfect area for a small group, very intimate . We were not rushed in the least and finally departed after 1am . One final note my one friend was very impressed that Brian remembered her name after only dining at the restaurant twice before . The chef, Dan also made an appearance and asked how our meal was, a very nice touch . Our waitress was excellent as well as the rest of the staff, very professional even after a long busy service.

Really great little place with an extremely professional and friendly staff. Went to eat here with my brother and we both ordered different entrées and loved our meals. I will say as far as negatives they had a special lemonade or iced tea I don’t remember but it had all these little things at the bottom and was not good had to put it aside after a few sips. One star off for that but otherwise it was a very satisfying experience!

My new favorite place! Being greeted by the owner, getting the best table by the window & x-massy décor, the bread & hummus, out fabulous appetizers & meal… don’t want to go home :)

Outstanding… Best meal ever. Swordfish was delectable. You will need lotsa bread to soak up the broth. Terimisu looks wonderful but tastes even better

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. The specials are always to die for and when they have their theme food nights it is amazing. Even their burgers on Wednesday nights are great. I highly suggest this place, bring a bottle of wine and you will eat great.

Another outstanding meal with my daughter, her fiancé, and good friend at Fiddleheads. Everyone raved at their meal selections. Mine, the orange brandied salmon, was excellent. Fiddleheads is my «go to» restaurant.

I went for burger night and had the Pennsylvanian. Delicious burger cooked exactly as I ordered — Medium Rare. Fries were awesome, crispy and light, perfectly fried. Top notch service, servers were very friendly and attentive. Intimate atmosphere, nicely decorated. I highly recommend. I will be back to try brunch.

Everything we had for brunch was delicious, especially the fruit and granola parfait. Call ahead for brunch reservations. Totally recommended.

My wife has wanted to try Fiddleheads Burger Night for quite some time now, tonight seemed to be the perfect time. We walk in and my wife picks a table, not a problem being seated there. It was a little tight so I moved the table just a little and knocked over the small vase of beautiful fresh cut flowers which spilled water into their window display. Of course I picked up the flowers and pretended that all was cool and nothing happened. Our menus arrived and who I believe was one of the owners pointed out a few highlights… and noticed the water. He was totally fine with it. I tried two of his highlights, the first was a glass of Pineapple Lemonade. It sounded like something I had to try and I’m glad that I did, it tasted like pineapple but without the tartness and not thick but more like lemonade. The second was a cup of Seafood Chowder. Now I’ve had seafood chowder and it usually has something like a white fish in it. Fiddleheads had salmon and bass… different and tasty! But on to the burgers, after all that’s what brought us there. Fiddleheads has come up with about ten combinations of their own and they also list ingredients so you can build your own burger. We did both, my wife built her medium rare burger with cheddar cheese, guacamole and bacon, she also substituted and asked for the sweet potato fries. I ordered one of their burger combinations, they all have names and I don’t recall what it was but it was so good that I haven’t forgotten that my rare burger had both cheddar and Swiss cheeses, a slice of ham and bacon and it was served on toasted sourdough bread with mayonnaise. OMG! I had regular fries which were excellent, both burgers came with a slaw and a sweet pickle spear. We will return, probably in early August for my wife’s birthday. The service is excellent, attentive but not pushy. The food is top notch, fresh and quality ingredients, slightly offbeat at times, they do add their own twists here and there but the chef is a master at his craft. If you’re thinking about giving Fiddleheads a try having a reservation is a good idea, we didn’t have one but for a Wednesday evening I was surprised how crowded they were. Also they are a BYOB, there isn’t a liquor license.

I went here for a late brunch with my boyfriend and his mom on Sunday(06⁄28). This place has a cozy, intimate, feel-good quality about it, and the servers are extremely nice. I felt comfortable and relaxed as soon as we were escorted to our table. Since I was still feeling a bit full from all the food I stuffed in my face the previous night(see my review on the Mediterranean Château in Matawan from 06⁄27), I decided to eat lighter fare and went with two cups of their yogurt, fruit, and granola. The yogurt was smooth, creamy, and was very light on my stomach, and the fruit was(praise Jeebus) seasonal! YES! Someone finally got it right and served fruit that’s in season! I had a generous amount of delicious blueberries and strawberries mixed in with the granola, and it was obvious they were farm-fresh. The granola wasn’t hard or thick, and was crumbled into bite-size pieces throughout. Hoboken eateries should learn a thing or two from this place. I noticed Fiddleheads was promoting a blueberry lemonade as their«drink special of the day», so I went with that, and I was glad I did. The tartness of the lemonade was complemented by the sweetness of the blueberries(and there were pieces of blueberry mixed into the drink, as well). I should have asked for another glass before we left. The next time we come here, I’ll bring a bigger appetite, because their French Toast looks awesome.

If you like creative original cooking by professionals, this is the place to go. But In Jamesburg? YES! I was once a doubter, but it’s true! If you want oversize stuff yer face type dining, go somewhere else, please. If you want fine quality and good flavors, this is probably the best in the area. BYOB makes it a good value too.

i’ve been coming to Fiddleheads for about 6 yrs mostly for spec. occasions like birthdays. The management makes a strong, consistent point of culinary enjoyment in an intimate, cozy setting. The BYOB is appreciated as is the steady great service from any of the 3 Nicks that may attend you. Owners are especially accomodating: a truly diamond in the jamesburg area. I travel from the edison/metuchen area to enjoy the evening there. I am looking forward to the brunch which i have never sampled. Bravo!

You’re trust is our top concern at Unilocal… yet we keep deleting your reviews with no explanation. Service here was okay. Friendly if undeservedly pretentious. I enjoyed the breakfast/brunch, but would have been a little more impressed if the focus was on giving excellent food rather than telling us how great your food is. I do not recommend the lunch or dinner service. Very disappointing. This was definitely all about«our food is so great» rather than it actually being good. Poor vegetarian choices. Please note my last visit and my review that disappeared were a couple of years ago. This is only meant to reflect my experience at that time.

Chef Dan, Host Brian and their team make their restaurant most welcoming place. Of course, the menu is diverse and the dishes are delish. It is great to see the vegetarian options grow over the years. BYOB with a touch of class. They don’t just uncork it, they will bring a wine chiller/ice bucket as appropriate. Even supplement your bubbly with OJ to make mimosas. Cheers

We’ve been going to this restaurant for a years now. It really is the perfect dining experience for many reasons. Its not just a ‘special occasion’ kind of place. it makes it a special occasion by going here. And we are always greeted by Bryan — one of the owners — with a big smile! The Chef Dan comes out to see how our meal is, clearly a ‘seasoned’ professional :). The food is always fresh with creative options as well and standards like salmon and chicken. Desserts are home made and not store bought – the key lime pie is to die for! The Chef isn’t afraid to be creative with the dishes – and the tomato bisque is a standard menu item. be sure to get a cup. Sitting at ‘our table’ and enjoying ourselves, the atmosphere, wall art, friendly staff and food makes Fiddleheads an amazing dining experience. I would highly recommend them, without hesitation. You do need to make reservations but that only speaks to its popularity and love by the whole community. Don’t forget to bring your own wine. Enjoy!

I always enjoy coming here when I’m visiting family in NJ. I’ve really liked everything I’ve had to eat here. My favorites are the flatbread lasagna and the veal entrée that they sometimes have on the menu. The space is cozy and elegant and the two owners are very nice. Fiddleheads has BYOB service, which I often wish I could find at restaurants in NYC. :)

Just tried this place for the first time and the food was really good. They make everything in house including their dressings. I had the tuna pomegranate special and it was delicious. I’ve had ahi tuna before but never with those flavors, which made it very unique. Also my brother is autistic and ordered chicken fingers with French fries for his dinner. He’s a big boy and these were small so he ate them quick. The chef came out ten minutes later with more for him to eat. This is a great example of their service and really won me over!

5 star restaurant in Jamesburg NJ?! Who would have thought… I go here for dinner on special occasions like our anniversary. We have never been disappointed. Even had a luncheon here with my colleagues. Everyone raved about how fresh and delicious everything was. For dinner however I must recommend you start with the crab fritters. No matter how they may be prepared that night, they will not disappoint. Raspberry vinaigrette dressing for the salad. For an the main course I would have to suggest the steak Diane cooked to a perfect medium rare. And for dessert why not try them all! I could go on and on praising this establishment. Staff is always friendly and informative. And don’t forget to bring your favorite wine! Looking forward to our next visit.
