Have been coming to Clarks Reservation for over thirty years. Good spot for a picnic; recently(?) renovated kids playground. When we came we saw many families and larger groups gathering for the afternoon. There are several different trails around the lake. Be aware though, there are many steep, rocky trails to be traversed. Some paths you can easily navigate– others not so much. Ran into may folks who looked like they had never been here before and were having difficulty getting up or down some of the rocks. Appropriate footwear is essential. It is dog friendly as long as you have Fido on a leash and clean up afterwards… saw a few dogs on the day we visited. There are restrooms and a pavilion here. You will also find trail maps and a few billboards displaying the origins of the park(was once a getaway destination at the turn of the century) A very refreshing afternoon.

Clark Reservation offers quick hikes and fascinating topography. Located on the eastern side of the city, a small wooded area hides a deep glacial plunge lake. The mid-sized park is made up of a network of short trails, no more than ¾ of a mile in length(though, you could make a half-day of hiking all of them). Most of them are basic walks through the woods, featuring gently rolling hills. The highlight is the cliff trail, along which can look deep into the bowl. It’s a sheer drop of 175 feet from the top to the lake’s surface! I don’t recommend the Lakeside trail. The rainy season make it a muddy trudge. The bugs will have their way with you. Also, it’s not well maintained. For a quick outdoor escape that’s right around the corner from downtown, give this place a try!
