Valentine’s dinner planned here — party of 6 2 people ordered steak The rest of us had salmon, lobster ravioli Starter salad was good Lobster ravioli was very good The one star? Both steaks AND baked potatoes were COLD No one checked on us(they were busy but could have asked, how is everything) When we told our server he said,” the tech fixing our air conditioning positioned it on our window-” what??? What!!! No apologies He went on to say that it’s blowing 22 degrees(that’s freezer cold– impossible) He did offer a free dessert but none of us eat dessert so that’s no way to make up for a very cold steak The guy at the table behind us told us his steak was cold too but they told him it was because his steak was big and he ordered it medium rare(he took the free dessert) We paid for our steak BUT it was not handled well at all Also another table next to us heard us and as they were leaving, told us that their order was messed up too Would you pay for a cold steak if they told you it was their fault it was cold? That’s basically what he said… wow Don’t eat here

My wife and I have eaten here four times. It has always been for lunch. I’m sorry that a few other people have had experiences here that were not pleasant. Our experience here has been good to excellent. Today was excellent. I got the build your own burger for $ 9 and added Gouda cheese for $ 1. The soup today was either vegetable or clam chowder and I got clam chowder. It is included as a side choice. It was excellent also. The burger here is far better than the burger at the Mill House. And the silverware here feels like a real silverware, not like the paper light silverware that is about the same weight as plasticware that Mill House has.(I like the Mill House owners and much of their food. I’m just noting differences) The atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant is clean as are the bathrooms. I like the fact that when arriving at our table the silverware is actually elevated so that the business end — the part of the silverware that goes in your mouth –is suspended in the air instead of resting on the table. All of this translates into making sure there are not any latent germs on the silverware. That attention to detail is a plus. The menu choices are marked as to if something is gluten-free or vegan, etc. That’s helpful for those with dietary restrictions or preferences. As far as suggestions go, softer lighting would be nice. And if people(mentioned in Unilocal) are having to wait too long due to iPad glitches in ordering, get rid of the iPads and go back to order pads where you write with pen and paper.

I was visiting family, having grown up in the Jasper area. Basically, there is not much between Bloomington and Evansville except Jasper. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, service, and outstanding drinks from the bar at 514. My family suggested we go. A very nice experience all around and left very satisfied. Quite a few steps up from the standard onion ring and fries type of establishments common to the region. Nice job the owner and staff have done for the area. I hope residents support 514. Looking forward to my next trip down from Indy.

I’m updating my review based on the fact that management contacted me regarding my review to get the specifics on our experience that evening. He was concerned and was very reassuring that we would not have that type of experience a second time around. Kudos to you K. for trying to please your customers and ensure they have the type of experience that your trying so hard to achieve!

Atmosphere was beautiful! Big city feel! Food was good but served cold. Service was fair. I had a drink with a popsicle in it! Overall I would come back.

New and noteworthy. Heard about spotty service their first few weeks but they’ve worked it out. Very professional staff, friendly and were ¾ full. Beer selection is good. Portions are large. BBQ was excellent and so was my wife’s steak. Check it out.

Great New Restaurant in Jasper! Been there 5 times and plan to return many many more. I recommend this place for Special Occasions as well as casual dining. Wonderful food, great atmosphere, as well as friendly staff. I even plan to go to lunch today. They have also got a great patio seating area. Ate lunch there today, had a little mixup with the newly training staff, however was compensated for the issue. Kudos.

I love this new restaurant! We lived in Chicago for 18 years and are now back in small town indiana. Being at 514 brings that big city feel. The atmosphere is very warm and intimate. The fact that the mixologist is from Ireland and incorporates some personal recipes and concoctions adds to the allure. The food is great. The staff is friendly. There is something for every palate and budget.

Made the mistake of going here for my 50th birthday. Wait staff was completely inept. After numerous service failures I requested the manager. The chef/owner came out and proceeded to tell the four of us it wasn’t her fault and we should just deal with it because a large group was seated 30 mins before our reservation. No apology just STFU. She was totally unprofessional. When we raised an objection at billing, she called the local police dept. They came, heard our complaint, told her we should be taken care of due to our horrible experience and her reply was«I don’t care they are paying full price.» We did and vowed never to return. If you find yourself hungry in Jasper, IN you may want to make this your restaurant of last resort.
