Little Red Barn Ice Cream Cafe

Nice, clean, quirky café, fresh food, soups sandwiches coffee ice cream, reasonable prices, calming atmosphere, I wouldn’t hesitate to add it to my travel itinerary when I’m down this way again.

Stopped for ice cream on our way back from white water rafting at Harper’s Ferry. Really cute place, good prices and nice staff. Lots of Hershey Ice Cream flavor as well as standard vanilla, chocolate and twist soft serve. My husband had a coffee as well. Highly recommend. We’ll be back next time we go rafting or tubing.

Great little Ice Cream and Sandwich Place. We saw it on our way to the Catoctin Creek Park and ended up getting Dinner and then Ice Cream for dessert. My kids had 2 PB&J’s and a Hot Dog with Chips. I had the Trap Town Turkey Sandwich on a Ciabatta Bun and I’m happy I upgraded the bun. They toasted my sandwich and it tasted pretty good to me. We will come again the next time we are out here.

Great little place! I always get the banana shake awesome! The little quotes in the bathroom put a smile on my face every time!!! Very kid friendly.

Jefferson, MD is what should be advertised as small town America. I’m not biased or anything. ;) BUT COME ON, there’s a market, a butcher shop, a bakery, more cows than people… This charming little ice cream parlour is just the cherry on top. See what I did there?

Love this place the ice cream is so good seem like every time I go it’s always crowed and busy but still worth it to me. The employees are so nice and helpful

A+ mazing!!! I love blt sandwiches, I order them everywhere and today I had without a doubt the best one ever. It was their BLT on ciabatta bread, the bread was fresh toasted warm and melted in my mouth. Good size sandwich too, same size as normal loaf bread slices, not those little rolls like other places do. Super cute, fun place with friendly happy people, great service, quick, clean, fair prices. They have icecream, soft serve too. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Long and short, I loved it!!!

We were on our way back from Harpers’s Ferry when the emergency bathroom alert system went off. I was in the middle of nowhere and the last time I tried getting a five year old to pee on the side of the road was a disaster. We could go no farther, so I took the next exit and there was an obvious choice between a gas station and the cute little red barn ice cream shop. The bathroom was clean! Not that you are reading this to get a bathroom review.
Of course I am not taking a bunch of kids into a ice cream shop without ice cream. Amongst us we tried the mint chocolate chip (very minty), vanilla, a chocolate/​vanilla ripple, and some other flavor that obviously was not memorable. The German chocolate was the best and I regret not getting it.
I probably will not be near Jefferson, WV any time soon, but if you are, I recommend a bathroom break at the red barn.

Except that they close at 6 pm on Sunday nights (even in summer). Kinda stupid.

After decades of driving to and from Montgomery and Howard counties to the George Washington National Forest hikes I’ve found a place to relax on drives home. The place is nice, is open late and the ice cream is good.
They’ve been open about two years.
They’re busy but the service is great

Spotted this place en route to Harpers Ferry in West Virginia and decided to stop by as a nice midpoint for the kids. They have plenty of ice cream, and they are not shy about giving you plenty. I made the wise decision to order a kids scoop, but my parents ordered single scoop cones, and they could barely finish them. They also had several sandwiches that looked appetizing, but we had already eaten lunch. Definitely stopping by if I’m in the area.

Very friendly. Delicious sandwiches and you follow it up with fantastic ice cream. So nice to go in and see so many local friendly faces to wait on you also.

Over priced ice cream you can purchase at the supermarket.
Historic Jefferson. We dont have many businesses but those we do have are country… except Red Barn. I really think they are competing wih the gas station across the street that also has ice cream and sandwiches, also Gas.
Right off rt 340 and excellent spot to stop. Tables outside friendly people but really just there to catch motorist that stop for gas enroute to the Casino …

The pressed sandwiches like the Reubens tend be on the greasy side. The cure for any pressed sandwich from here is to request them to NOT spray the grill with oil before pressing it.
The chicken salad sandwich is very tasty. It has some yummy surprises in it like dried cranberries. The in and outside seating is clean & welcoming. The staff is great!

Stop here for ice cream for the kids every once in a while and I stopped last week. I had a BBQ chicken sandwich that was pretty good. It had coleslaw on it which was a nice addition. Good service and friendly atmosphere make this place a hit.

We were very happy we found this spot today. After a very hot day at the soccer field this was just what we needed. Loved the appearance from the outside and the inside was nice, clean and inviting. Many flavors to choose from but my crew is all about the soft serve twist. We all got one on a cone, the waffle cone was perfect. The kid size was just right for my 7 year old and the small was just right for me. The medium size appeared BIG but my 12 year old and hubby crushed them. We will make the drive out there again! Yummy! I wish I had a picture but we were too busy eating them:)

I was a little disappointed after I ordered. Living in a small town out in the country I thought we would be able to find lots of hidden gems… we came here thinking this was one of them. Come to find out it’s just Hershey’s ice cream which is not bad but I was just hoping for homemade! Still the only local ice cream place around so it’ll have to do!

On the way back to DC my friends and I stopped here for sandwiches and ice cream. I got the chicken salad which was pretty good. Another friend got the Reuben though and maybe we were all just really hungry, or maybe it really was an amazingly delicious sandwich! After each person ate their own sandwich, we ordered another reuben for the table!
Ample parking and indoor seating, as well as several tables outside. Lucky for us it was a beautiful afternoon so all 6 us sat outside and enjoyed the sun!
We couldn’t leave without getting some ice cream so back inside we went. All the staff was very friendly and let us sample a bunch of different flavors. I settled on a childhood favorite «Superman» (which is known as Super Kid in Canada!). The «one scoop» size is HUGE and was perfect for me! Other friends got different scoops, chocolate soft serve, and a sundae. It seems like you can’t go wrong with the ice cream here!
If I lived closer this would be my go to spot for sure! So quaint, and I loved all the little embroidery phrases scattered throughout the barn. Hopefully I’ll get to visit again next road trip!

What a great find! We were picking up some fresh meat from Hemp’s down the road and needed a fun spot to grab a quick bite. The Little Red Barn quickly caught my eye as it is a quaint and adorable spot. Fresh sandwiches and ice cream galore are listed on the menu. OMG the milkshakes!!!
My husband did complain that they need a bigger chip selection. :)
