Raccoon Holler Campground

My husband and I dropped in here for a single overnight of primitive camping after a last minute decision to go to the mountains and do some exploring/​property scouting. This is mainly an camper/​trailer park with RV hookups, but they do have a small (3 – 4 site) area for primitive camping. My one complaint would be the light– there is GIANT BRIGHT streetlight right overtop of the camping area– not so ‘primitive’… and kind of ruins the stars. I think it is to help people see the bathhouse– but honestly– people should have flashlights. Take that thing down, ya’ll!
I will say, the people are friendly, and the grounds are vey well kept and this campground had the hands down cleanest bath house I had ever seen in my life. Nice lake area and right off the Parkway. :)

The campsite itself was great. The problem was the misinformation that was given. Website said that the sites were level, not even close. We called ahead of time and asked about fishing licenses and were told 2 different answers 2 different times. We were told there was swimming at the lake, but there was no place to swim. We were not told that there was an extra fee if we have AC. We did enjoy the site, just not the misinformation.
