Samba

This is an awesome little place. It had the coolest 1950’s décor. My wife, my 20 month old daughter, and I stopped in for a late lunch. My wife had the yellow rice and black beans with chicken. We came here looking for Latin food, as my wife is Spanish from South America. Well, anyway we stopped in. We enjoyed the food. Even the baby enjoyed it. I had a sandwich that was killer. I must apologize, as I forgot it’s name. The people running the establishment were very nice, and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

Really fantastic food. Fresh, light, tasty. Lovely guy runs the place. A breath of fresh air in a part of upstate NY where it’s hard to find anything decent to eat. Recommended.

Delicious crab cake sandwich for $ 10? Unbeatable. I also sampled my mom’s Brazilian chicken salad, which was also very tasty.

Best meal on our trip. Hard to believe such incredible and authentic cuisine could be NY’s best kept secret. Lauren, their daughter gave Gabe a stuffed dog. Food was wonderful as was the hospitality. If you are in this area you would be crazy to miss this spot!

Food was great. Went several times and never disappointed. The food is fresh, tasty and inventive. Loved the crab cake and black bean sauce and the slow roasted pork. Andrea, the chef is first class! Very friendly service.

We ate their a couple of times. The service could be a little faster, especially if you have young children. But everything else is top notch. Part of the family is Brazilian, so we are used to what things should taste like… The food is Close to what you’d get in someone’s home in the state from where the cook comes. They are also doing their best to use local ingredients, which is the essence of Brazilian cooking. Their pao de queijo are to die for and very addictive.

I am sad to say that this was probably the worst brazilian food I’ve had. I was so disappointed by the lack of familiar flavors and tastiness that I have come to associate with Brazilian food and the menu was extremely limited. The staff are friendly and the place is clean but I don’t think I would return. They do sell some brazilian soda and snack items that you can take away.

My husband and I spent the weekend in Jeffersonville to get away from the city and find some peace and quiet. We went out to eat three times, two of those times at Samba. After we stopped in for breakfast, we decided to come back in for dinner that same night. The husband and wife duo did a great job with décor, food and hospitality. We loved it all!
If you’re ever visiting Jeffersonville (or live there!), I highly recommend Samba!

Cute place with nice Retro décor. Chicken salad sandwich was yummy as was the creamy tomato soup. The beef empanada was delicious and the blended juices were refreshing. Might check them out for dinner soon, just wish they had a larger menu.

The food is very good. You are served in a relaxed atmosphere where there are plenty of books and other items to look at. You can get GREAT fruit drinks, food with a Latin flair and coffee’s and the only thing that I will complain about is the service. Depending on when you go, it can be slow. Thanks though, for offering something completely different in Jeffersonville.
They also cater large parties if you are interested in something completely different. I went to a party recently and it was truly a different experience with great food.

the books have been moved next door– and are mostly gone, but they are now serving dinners

Really cute little place that makes use of every bit of the space it has to offer. Books line the shelves of one wall, and 60s/​70s style dining room tables and chairs fill the floor area. Antiques and old style refrigerators add a fun ambience to the room– I especially liked the pink fridge where the drinks are kept icy cold. The staff were very nice, and the food was delectable– a great place to stop for lunch while you are passing through the area. I had a chicken salad sandwich-​one of the best I have ever had. They also offered a variety of beverages (hot and cold) and tasty looking desserts-​wish I had more time to linger as there are lots of things to look at and try in Samba!

I grew up in a town with not a lot in it. We didn’t even have a stop light. But over the past few years, things have changed in Jeffersonville. I barely recognize Main Street anymore. The latest business to open it’s doors is Samba, a Brazilian juice bar. I have to tell you, this place is effing beautiful. The floors are some kind of dark wood. I don’t want to make some old Indian dude cry or anything, but for all I know, they came from big dank trees felled cruelly by cold-​hearted mercenaries in the heart of the Amazon. There’s a huge flat screen TV in there, too, with a red leather couch facing it and like a striped rainbow-​colored rug on the floor that looks like a baby would enjoy crawling on it and making gurgling sounds. The tables are well-​spaced in little nooks by the windows and there are shelves along the walls lined with interesting books (also for sale). Let’s just say it’s a really super nice place to sit on a hot day and sip, uh, your $ 5.00 cup of, um, orange juice with chunks of frozen strawberry in it. Yeah. On the other hand, it would be a nice place to sit and have someone throw a spear at your head. Like seriously, it’s really, really pretty and happy inside. The juice is sweet and cold but otherwise totally unremarkable and priced I’d say about %300+ above what I think would be fair. If it was a café I’d probably go there twice a day but I could live my entire life without another Brazilian juice and be perfectly content. I could probably just file this one under «silly business model» and forget it but I’m actually pretty psyched that my town has a place like this in case I ever want to impress a visiting city girl.
