We decided to give Red Bug Pizza a try, we had the Red Bug Special pizza and were very pleased. A large is 14 inches and cost eighteen dollars. The crust is good, there was plenty of cheese, and the toppings were plentiful and fresh.

This was some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. What a wonderful surprise this was for us on this trip! We were not sure where to eat and tried it out on a whim. A real Gem!

First, let me say how amazing Amanda is! She always greeted everyone with a smile and is a hard worker. We don’t eat a lot of seafood and were so happy to find Red Bug… we actually went back 3 times! Salads are nice and fresh, lasagna was great. Good portions and we loved the pizza. Indoor dining is nice and cozy. I would highly recommend this place.

Dined in this afternoon since we were at the mini golf place next door. Service was great, no trouble there. Places was clean, got our drinks refilled promptly, waitress was kind to my child. We had the cheese sticks and a cheese pizza. Cheese sticks(I should have read the menu better, maybe?) are strips of pizza dough smothered in cheese. I was hoping for mozz sticks. Oh well! Pizza was not fresh. The crust did not taste fresh or have much flavor period, cheese was greasy, overly thick and slid right off, and it also did not taste fresh. Sauce was a little sweet – maybe canned? I guess when you’re one of the only pizza places in town, you don’t have to be excellent. We found Red Bug to be «just ok».

Really tasty pizza. Great fluffy, stretchy base. Nice sauce and a decent amount of toppings.

5 stars given context of location, food type, etc. Would I give this 5 stars in Atlanta? No. But here, it was a perfect find and I thought it was well done and had nice people working there. Have kids? There is a fairly expansive, large public playground 20 feet away(and a deck for the restaurant you can eat on if you so desire). It’s also co-located with the mini-golf. Bike rentals for the island are right next door if you’re going that route. The inside is a cool little place. Kind of an old pub feel(not quite, but in that direction). We had pizza. I thought it was just fine/good and hit the spot for us. They definitely fill a niche that the island needs food-wise.

Really mediocre! Credit card marching was down, dining room closed, spaghetti not available. Don’t waste you time.

Forget your picnic basket on your day trip to Jekyll Island? Well, this pizza place is a great refuse nestled near the Great Dunes Park and a mini-golf court and playground. If you are looking for an amazing gourmet pizza experience, this place is probably not for you, but if you’re hungry after a day of running around on the beach and swimming it hits the spot, although it’s a little over-priced.

Absolute worst service imaginable. Walked into a restaurant that had four of the six tables empty… but not cleared. They had one lady working the bar and dining room(which was filthy), and she said one second. Well ten minutes later we were seated and ten minutes after that, she finally came to give us menus. Another couple walked out while we were ordering and then a family with two kids walked in and the lady turned her away and said they need to order takeout only and sit on the picnic tables outside because she’s too busy to clean. The lady working here then flipped out in front of us and the few customers here about that family. I don’t care how good the pizza is, why would I want to support an establishment that treats customers like this. Completely ridiculous! There’s only one reason that this is the best pizza on the island… it’s the only pizza joint on the island. Save yourself the drama and buy a frozen pizza!

Red Bug Pizzeria is in a great location, right next to the putt-putt, golf, and bike rental company. It’s also an English pub if you are looking for that atmosphere, but still a great place to bring the family for pizza. My husband and I ate pizza on St. Simon and Jekyll Island, and liked both. Red Bug appears family owned and is busy between all their businesses. The pizzeria is a great place to try and we recommend the supreme pizza!

I worked my way through college working in a pizza place. For years I slung pizza pizzas through ovens, sliced them, bagged them and sent them out the door. What we made were pizzas, technically speaking, but they weren’t anything to write home about. Red Bug pizza reminded me of those days with a bland crust, bland sauce, tasteless cheese, and inoffensive toppings. Seasoning is a good thing. Maybe we caught them on a bad evening?

Good pizza. They didn’t offer delivery until 5pm, but pickup was an option for us so no problem. Place was kind of hard to find– it’s inside a mini golf course lot– but we found it. Food was good, staff was a little curt, but overall would recommend it. Compared to some of the other crap on the island, it’s basically heaven.

When we arrived at the island on a Saturday, we figured that pizza delivery would be best, as we had not gone to the grocery store. Their hours were until 9. We called around 7:30. I had to call them 8 – 10 times before they answered the phone. When they did, I was advised that they weren’t taking any new orders, as they were behind, and to check back in 30 minutes. I can understand that on a Saturday night, so I did. No one answered the phone until 8:15ish. When they did, I was advised that they still weren’t taking any more orders for delivery, but we could order takeout, and that had to be done in-store only. I decided to give it one more try the following Friday. This time, however, no one answered. On both occasions, we went to Tortuga Jacks across(the New Mexican restaurant across the street). It was delicious, and quick, even though they were only having a soft opening. I understand that Jekyll was busier than normal this year, since the new Westin resort opened, but if you can’t manage your labor appropriately, you really don’t have business calling yourself a delivery operation.

We decided to eat here, considering we were a tad over budget for our vacation. Many of the other restaurants on the island are either stuffy and/or overpriced. This place has the coldest beer(bottles) in the south, and I think excellent thin crust pizza. My Alfredo pizza and partners pizza bianco were tasty, of excellent quality and are handmade. They don’t look nor taste like preprepared crust or other complaints below were unfounded. It used to be a pro shop inside and is classy. Nice bar with a friendly bartender, tables inside or out front. We will return.

Small place. We came in at 8:15 pm, and there is only one waitress. She was very attentive, and was doable for the 8 table pub. The drinks never went dry. Cheese sticks are great… The marinara sauce is very real. We ordered cheese, Hawaiian, and Meatopia pizzas. The crusts were very light, and had high quality ingredients. If you want a great dinner, order it here, take it to the beach, and relax.

Attentive and friendly service but pizza is not great. Crust seems premade and veggies canned.

The night my friend and I went, there was only one waitress. It was really busy, so there was a pretty long wait for our food. The pizza itself was really good though, so I would definitely eat here again.

We had one pizza and two sodas delivered to a local hotel. When I called the restaurant to make the order, despite having good reception, they repeated my number back to me wrong several times. I was concerned they might not have it, so I called the front desk to ask them to call me if a confused pizza guy showed up. They also seemed unsure whether or not they delivered to the local hotels, which seemed bizarre on this type of island. The restaurant called me over an hour after I ordered, saying my pizza was downstairs. They told me their driver had had the front desk call me, as well as called me several times himself. No one called, the front desk hadn’t seen anyone all evening asking about delivering to a guest. By the time I got down to the front the delivery guy had left. When he finally did return, he gave me my pizza and drove off. He had to come back 20 minutes later to deliver the sodas we had also ordered. The pizza was ok. The epic tale of acquiring it was just weird.

Being a pizza snob we didn’t expect much from a place that basically serves a captive audience. Pleasantly surprised the pizza was impressive with heaping amounts of cheese and toppings at average prices. The crust is tasty but doesn’t have that fresh made taste. The sauce is a good balance of sweet and tangy tomato with a lil’hint of herbs. Their wings are baked and only come in two flavors: hot or BBQ. We had the hot which weren’t bad just baked, which is not cool with some folks. Salad is served in a big foam container, having had the Greek salad it came with lots of feta, green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, and pitted katamala olives. The pizza prices are reasonable but the wing and salad prices may be a bit much for amount/product for some. Overall you won’t be disappointed by the pie and delivery is quick(we are on a tiny island though)!
