David’s Asian Bistro

First the reason most people write reviews. The food is decadent. Not great or inspired but consistently edible. With the exception of the won ton soup which has sad floppy dumplings. But the attitude and service are truly disappointing. Like the won ton the staff also has a sad floppy attitude with a coldness to their gaze which boarders on contempt. And indifference to your comfort and patronage. Last evening I upgrade a phone in order to include chicken mein fun. I sat to await the food. and sat… and sat. When I got up to check on the order, I found that it already arrived and was sitting by the register, working it’s way to room temperature. No one alerted me to the arrival of food. No apology, no concern and I was a repeat customer. Oh if there were only another Chinese restaurant close by!

This is the best Chinese food in the area. Love everything there. They have the best spareribs! David is a real nice guy and the waitress is as well. They are very accommodating. It maybe a little hard to find but once you do you will go back. Try it, you will love it!

Awful. It’s the rare restaurant where my wife and I took two bites and threw it in the garbage.

Delicious veggie fried rice and hot and sour soup! My husband loves their chicken wings!

Ordered delivery… They said 45 minutes, took 2 HOURS. Never ordering from here again.

My son and i go here almost every time we meet for lunch. The food is wonderful and the woman who takes care of us treats us like family. Love it!

Meh. Not great, not terrible. We’ve been using David’s as a stand-​in for our former favorite Chinese takeout joint, which is closed for renovations. Nothing has been bad, but each time we order, at least one dish is not exactly what we were expecting. I do like that they offer online ordering, but the food has just been average.

My company orders from David’s every two weeks. Everyone gets their own specific order (approx 20 – 40 people at a time). David’s never dissappoints. He takes excellent care of us and the food is always fresh and tasty. It’s hard to make and deliver such a large order as I’ve seen with other restaurants we order from but this place is always on point. Thanks David!

My wife and I recently ordered take out on a Friday night. We were hopeful that David’s would be good since it’s menu is so similar to Jasmine’s but closer to our house.
I was disappointed almost immediately. It took the workers over five minutes to even acknowledge that I had walked in the door. Perhaps that wouldn’t have been a big deal had I not been able to see my order waiting behind the counter. So, I was willing to forgive the service.
When I got home and opened the food, everything was mushy. The fried rice was overcooked and mushy. The lo mein was bland and mushy. We also ordered the Pork with Eggplant entrée. Eggplant is a mushy vegetable — fair enough — but there was NO pork.
There are several Chinese restaurants in the area that are just average, and David’s is worse than all of them.

We are new to town and were looking for a good Chinese place to order take out from. We found David’s on here & we’re very disappointed. We ordered take out on a Thursday & they told us it would be 30 minutes to deliver. 45 minutes came and still no food. I called and the lady told me that the delivery guy left a long time ago. 15 minutes later, still nothing. Called again and she called the delivery guy & said he was 5 minutes away. He came over an hour after we ordered and they didn’t even get our order right. Food was bland. We won’t be ordering again from David’s!

We just moved to the area a month ago and our family has eaten at David’s three times already. It’s that good. The food is fantastic. Pad Thai, general Tso’s, spring rolls, I could go on. The ambiance and décor is rather bland but the food makes up for it. The staff is very friendly as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the plate of fresh fruit they bring out after your meal. I highly recommend you try it out. I’ll see you there.

Hands down the best Asian restaurant in the area. Everything is good and the owner is a great guy.
I wish he had a better view of his restaurant from the street-​easily drive by and miss it… and miss the best Chinese in Montgomery County.
It’s a shame that I see people going to China Keng up the street and not here. Only reason people go to China Keng is that they are visible from 611 and have been there for some time. This restaurant kicks their butt! Plus sit down available. Why drive to Philly’s China Town?

Very good Chinese food! I had the general tso’s chicken very good! Delivery was fast! I was shocked they delivered to my area Elkins Park Lywoodgardens apartment complex. I will most definitely be ordering from here again! This place is like China town I love it!

We walked into the restaurant and the server behind the desk was extremely friendly and welcoming. He promptly placed our to-​go order and we only waited 15 minutes. The food was piping hot, like burning my legs when I rested it on my lap to eat (after driving a half hour home!). So I was really impressed with that. The chicken Pad Thai was really delicious – had tons of chicken and more cabbage and less peanut taste than I’m used to but overall I stuffed my face with it. I might ask for more peanut sauce on the side next time. The spring rolls were SUPER yummy and I rarely enjoy spring rolls. However, the crab rangoons were clearly freezer burned and were soggy and chewy as opposed to the normal crunchy and warm. They were a disappointing in texture but still tasted yummy to me. I would order the pad thai and spring rolls again and recommend this place!

My first time at David’s Asian bistro and I was impressed. Had shrimp with vegetables and chicken fried rice. Asked for everything with light oil. Absolutely delicious. I will be going back!

This is the place to go for GOOD food and EXCELLENT service. I’ve been eating there 1 – 2 times per week for the last month and I’m almost finished each dish on the lunch menu. Also I’ve been there for dinner. that menu is so large it will take at least a year to sample all the items.
The food taste and portion size is wonderful. The plates come beautifully decorated and there is a complimentary fruit dessert.
Best of all is the warmth of the staff\owner. I am made to feel like family.

My family and I love this place! They hands down have the best Chinese food in the area, not to mention the service and attentiveness by the owners is above par. We used to frequent Jasmines Asian Bistro in Glenside until the food seemed to be going downhill and we finally got fed up with one particular waiters poor attitude. Since we were left without a Chinese food home I turned to Unilocal and it definitely did not let me down with this place! I usually get the shrimp friend rice and soup, and it never fails. I hope this place is really successful!

Best Chinese food in the area! Consistently good quality food. They even gave me a free fruit bowl for dessert. My only complaint is the atmosphere in the restaurant. Would much rather have background music than the big huge tv with low volume.
Take out was a perfect decision.

David’s is a BYOB Asian Bistro restaurant with excellent food and intimate atmosphere. Formally a waiter from Jasmines in Glenside who started his own restaurant. Clean restrooms and new furnishings. We had tasty Thai salmon and chicken seafood soup made Hong Kong version with carrots. The meal ends with a colorful fresh fruit plate of watermelon, green melon, and oranges. Fortune cookies for New Years were hilarious.

We tried David’s for the first time on Tuesday night, and were so glad that we did. It’s been a long time since this space was the home of a really solid Chinese restaurant (a moment of silence for Lum Fong Garden, which was my family’s go-​to place for takeout on Friday nights of yore), so we were hopeful that David’s Asian Bistro would not let us down.
The service was very attentive (there were only a few other tables seated, but still), the atmosphere is comfortable, if a little generic, but most importantly the food is really good!
Four of us started with won ton soup, and were thrilled with both the flavorful broth as well as the thick, meaty won tons. A fifth diner enjoyed his hot and sour soup, which he said was very tasty and not gloppy as it can sometimes be. David’s has very reasonably-​priced dinner specials, which include soup, egg roll, fried rice, and choice of entrée. Three of us took advantage of the dinner specials, and everyone was very pleased with the flavors of the various sauces as well as the freshness of the vegetables in each dish. Requests to make otherwise not-​spicy dishes «a little spicy» resulted in terrific flavor. Best of all, there were leftovers and those heated up beautifully for lunch the next day (another sign that the food was fresh in the first place).
Dinner ended with a complimentary plate of sliced melon and orange segments, served attractively, as well as fortune cookies.
We hope David’s Asian Bistro thrives in its new space, and we will definitely be back!
