Jericho Public Library is probably the best in the area! Growing up in Jericho, I have seen how much the library has changed over time. I highly recommend the library. It has current technologies, books, computers, programs, and resources. The librarians/staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Even there is a computer aide there just to assist patrons with computer questions and issues. Nostalgia brings me back but what makes me stay is how current the library is. I wouldn’t change anything!

This library makes me wonder what happened to the kind, helpful librarians that used to be there– because I have not encountered any. Let’s start with this story: I rented 2 movies simply because they were not in my hometown library of Syosset and I made sure to return them to Jericho on time. About 2 weeks later, I received notices in the mail that I had overdue movies and if they weren’t returned, it would be reported to some type of agency. Needless to say, I called the library and explained the situation. I told them that I was positive that the movies were returned and of course the librarian on the other end had a slightly rude tone. She said that she would do a shelf check and if they weren’t found, I would be notified. A few days later, I found out that the movies had been removed from my account– I guess someone screwed up at the library. I never received an apology for the inconvenience or even a nice, considerate tone from any of the librarians. I guess that’s too much to ask for these days. As I saw in the other review, do yourself a favor and drive 5 minutes to Syosset’s library. It’s extremely spacious, luxurious and most of all, you’re bound to find a smiling face.

Jericho’s library is very basic. They have a very limited selection, and the library def needs a renovation. The study tables on the second floor are okay, but the silent study rooms are very small, and are claustrophobic. The staff is very helpful, but anything is hard to find. Internet is limited, and resources are once again limited. And the worst part is, you have to sign up to get access to their wireless internet connection. It’s just a hurdle at every step. I would skip Jericho, and just drive down Jericho turnpike and go to Syosset’s library. Trust me…
