Papillion is an oasis of interesting vintage eclectic«stuff» while shopping in Jerome. A welcome escape from the«whatever is selling» tourist trap crap at a lot of other stores. Be sure and also stop at the«Made in Jerome» store a little further down on the boardwalk. Owners are fun, and helpful with local info. I don’t think I have ever bought anything here, but I try every visit. Usually has some of the better music playing in town. Do it.

I was not a fan. Though there are many great items in the store, I went to pay and was instructed that my purchase had to be $ 10 or more to use my debit card. Otherwise I could pay with cash or check. After tax, my purchase would have been well over the $ 10 limit. I informed the lady working the counter of this and she shrugged. I was shamed into buying a small, extremely oily hand lotion(which I threw away immediately after returning to our hotel room). I told her that I thought it was a little silly that they didn’t have a policy of charging an extra .45 cents or something to cover the debit fee. She said at the owner’s other store they have a minimum of $ 20!!! That’s incredible. I would never shop somewhere where I HAD to pay $ 20 in order to buy anything. What a rip. She was rude, I wouldn’t go back. They need to revisit the good ol’ calculator and figure out tax and see if they can’t manage to charge a nominal fee for using the debit machine if the shopper’s purchase is under their«set» amount. Don’t shame your customers. They don’t like it.

This is a fabulous vintage shop with charming ladies. Both women’s and men’s attire from mostly the 40−50s, but ranges up to the 70s. Lots of hats, coats, and shoes too. And lots of home wares! I try to make a trip to Jerome every time I’m in AZ, and visiting Papillion is the highlight.

Sweet lady, she knew right away I was from retail because I folded everything & straightened the racks, she thanked me 3 times, adorable. She had great shoes and dresses from the 40s, 50, 60s &70s. My boyfriend found some amazing items too. I recommend a stop in if you are in or near Jerome. It’s a great little ½ day trip.
