This place has terrible food and service. The first time I ordered it was fine, but the second two times they sent the wrong meals and it was poor quality.

If you’re interested in vegetarian chili that consists literally of salt, beans and corn then you’ve come to the right place. Also keep in mind that it comes with stale Tostitos chips. The tacos are drenched in so much sauce that they are nearly impossible to eat. This is understandable considering that the meat is likely grade D. It is a sad day when any«mom and pop» taco shack is greatly outdone by something as hideous as Taco Bell. At least Taco Bell has the good sense to not use Styrofoam. Jersey City is swiftly changing into A great place to eat and restaurants like this one will be left behind just as swiftly. Do not eat here you will be dissatisfied in nearly every way available.

UPDATE: NOVEMBER8, 2015 So I tried Bubby’s again and you know what? It was good. I ordered a grilled steak Burrito, chips and guac, and a quesadilla. I picked it up and it was ready when they said it would be, the girl was NICE on the phone, and NICE in person, and the food was just what I ordered. Imagine that! It’s amazing how just BEINGNICE can actually affect how good food tastes! Just, BENICE!

When I am working in JC I always stop here. The steak quesadilla is great. Its real steak and not fatty. Lots of flavor in every bite. Service is always quick and friendly. If your hungry add the chips and salsa.

Decent Mexican in the area(which is not saying much). Mole sauce is very good, but they skimp on it these days. Fruit smoothies are really good. Delivery service however is despicable. An hour late once and almost two hours late another time. Not really a dine-in kind of place either. Best to pick up.

I was going to leave my two cents about the young lady who mans the front desk but thought why bother, so many other reviews have done it for me. Decent food but this girl is some taco. I always ask for salsa on the side when I order the nachos, why, because you’ll end up with soggy nachos. She says it can’t be done. I tell her, you do it all the time. She says we cant do it when we’re busy. Next up, she proceeds to give everyone who came in after me their food and hold my food hostage while I starve. Thank you young lady, I will not spend anymore money in your daddy’s establishment. Taqueria is a block away. Their service and food is amazing AND, they have margaritas. ;-)

What a neighborhood gem. Been here more than a couple times now and the food is always fresh and delicious Mexican tacos are amazing for those of us who like the original flavor in our tacos(i.e. Not commercialized by chains like chipotles) Combo platters are heavier meals but the various tastes all come together perfectly, and the smoothies are all natural and perfectly blended with no sugar nor other artificial favors I think the reviews with one star that criticize the service does not do the place justice, it’s not supposed be a place where you go for that. If you’re the type that cares more about the food and don’t mind picking it it up at the counter, do not miss this joint if you live or ever visit JC Lastly, prices are unbeatable for the quality.

This place obviously doesn’t give a shit. Beware if you order online. They have items on their online menu that they don’t make any more. Girl who called to tell me couldn’t have cared less.

NEVERAGAIN! Service and food are awful. Many of the negative comments here are justified.

To start off with, I live in Jersey City(this is important later), exactly 8 minutes and 2.4 miles away from this restaurant. Went to Brownstone Diner with my roommates, and when we parked the car, I thought this place looked like a potentially good Taco place and grabbed a menu. The menu clearly states: 10 $ DELIVER — JERSEYCITY 20 $ DELIVER — HOBOKEN About a week later, I got delivery from this place while staying at a buddies in the Heights, located about 10 – 15 minutes from here. Food wasn’t bad. I like Taqueria better, but this was alright also. My roommate was ordering dinner today, and when he said he wanted to some mexican, I grabbed him this menu and told him to try it out. So when he called up a little while later to get a burrito for us, they told us they didn’t deliver to my area. We knew it was close, and were surprised they wouldn’t deliver here if they deivered, so we checked exactly how far it was. That’s when we found we were 8 minutes and 2.5 miles away. At this point, we figured they probably got confused about where we lived, and taking into account we really wanted Mexican food and to try a new place, we called back, explaining that we were only a couple miles away and under 10 minutes. The person who answered the phone said they knew exactly where we were and wouldn’t deliver here, period. Then they gave it off to another woman, who said the same exact thing, saying she looked at it, and we don’t deliver to our street name. When I asked her if they had a delivery radius, and tried to tell her we were closer than nearly anywhere in Hoboken, she said«I looked you guys up on a map. We don’t go there», then hung up the phone. If we were far away, I’d understand. But considering our proximity, they must have a different reason, and potentially a bias against the income and general demographics of the area I live in. We aren’t too far for deliver, so that’s the only thing I can think of. Either way, anywhere that advertises as an establishment that delivers, delivers to places farther than where I’m located, but refuses to deliver to me gets 1 star. Considering we really wanted Mexican food, w

The WORST service in Jersey City. I have lived in this area for 11 years which means I’ve been here for the complete change JC has undergone, this also means I’ve been to just about every restaurant from high end to take out and this by far is the worst service I’ve received. oddly enough it is only one person which is the owners daughter that hasn’t a clue of what customer service means. I think the food is good, and I have tried over the last year to keep giving it a chance but this last time was the final straw. After ordering a FISH combo to go, I get home to find I was given beef. So I called and said hey, you gave me beef instead of fish. The young girl proceeds to tell me I was wrong and here is no way she got it wrong I ordered that. News flash, I am a pescetarian which means I do not eat meat and I have not for a long time. Why would I order beef? Instead of her saying, sorry I must not have heard you– please bring it back and I will remake she proceeds to argue with me and is condescending and bet matter of fact. This experience coupled with some others I’ve over looked has unfortunately sealed my decision that I will never return and will make sure I spread the word. One star is too much.

I just found this place two weeks and 10 lbs ago. I was never a fan of burritos until I found this place. I couldn’t believe it got the rating it did but I understand why. The low rating isn’t because of the food but because of the service at times. Sometimes the girl at the counter gets overwhelmed and gets your order wrong. I get the frustration. You order a shrimp burrito but get a chicken one instead. The food is so darn good I get it. If you’d like to avoid this type of mishap I suggest you place your order on line. One of the reviews below described the burritos as being the size of a tree bark… THISIS1000PERCENTACCURATE!!! I always seem to feel like a heart attack is on its way whenever I’m halfway through but being a glutton for punishment it’s worth it everytime. Best burrito spot in jc.

Thought I’d give this place a try for a quick bite and ordered the Tex Mex Steak burrito. It’s supposed to come with guacamole as per the menu, but when it came out without any I asked the server to kindly add some. She then told me that the kitchen staff did add the ingredient and argued that they can only add guacamole now with an extra charge. Point is, service here is lacking and despite seeing for herself that something’s wrong with the food, they refuse to fix the issue and instead argue their way out. Oh well, won’t be visiting here again. *see photo.

I come here a lot for lunch because it is right by my job. I love the authenticity of their food. Especially their specific mexican menu. For example they offer quesadillas but then they also offer mexican quesadilla which is more authentic and out of this world good. Not a lot of seating offered. Could be pricey. Not a fan of the quality of their tortilla chips but their food is delicious!

Very disappointing. I had a the spicy steak burrito which was spicy due to a lot of jalapenos but the steak was unremarkable and the burrito was mostly rice. My wife had the vegetarian chili burrito which was also mostly rice and lacked flavor. Considering the dearth of other similar options in the area, it’s really too bad Bubby’s is not better quality. I’m not sure what’s stopping them from stepping up their game in a neighborhood where most restaurant owners seem to take pride in their product.

All I wanted was a burrito and no wait– so Bubby’s was the choice. They have a ton of burritos to choose from and I decided stuck with a safe chicken burrito. Not the best burrito in the world but not the worst either. It was a decent burrito and satisfied my craving. Little heavy on the rice –but they didn’t skimp on the guac either. If you want your next Tex Mex fix to completely I knock you off your feet — you may want to try elsewhere. But if you want something basic and not have to be Taco Bell — this is a fine choice.

I had a few bites left to go before finishing the whole burrito I ordered when a thought crossed my mind: «I should have gotten a smoothie to wash thi — « Then I started to choke and a new thought tip toed into my cerebrum: «I am gonna get a ****ing parking ticket if I die right now and can’t get back to the car in 75 minutes.» Then I thought about other things… like: *Did I really drive 30 minutes to Jersey City just to choke and die on a beef burrito? I don’t even really like beef. *I am not gonna see the next episode of The Walking Dead. *Did it REALLY take me 30 minutes to get here? I usually do it in 18. *I wasn’t even hungry… what am I doing in a restaurant? *I won’t be able to write a Unilocal review if I die in her— And that did it… that final thought willed me to swallow the massive morsel of burrito that thought it would replicate The Grim Reaper and do me in. Now, no one knows Jersey City better than me. No one. No cab driver, no cop, no city official, no 200 year old local.nobody. I don’t know JUST the ‘nice’ parts or JUST the ‘ghetto’ parts… I know it ALL. So imagine my dismay when I realized that this place is not called«Benny’s Burritos». O_o Yeah, that’s the face I made when I looked at the window from within and read the logo backwards. I looked at the menu and anyone who knows me knows I don’t like to spend more than $ 7 on food when I eat(no one knows me) out unless someone got a raise or someone dumped an abusive ex and we decided to go out and celebrate. But I had to go over that and I decided to get a beef burrito. It was simple(aka didn’t get cheaper than that)…and the whole time I thought to myself, «man, I just spent $ 9 on what will probably be the circumference of a Twizzler». But then I had OPTIONS between chips and a salad. **** came with a ****ing side! Holy ****! I sat down, opened up my skateboard mag, took some pictures of the joint with my SLR and in no time, the waitress dropped my burrito and chips in front of me. She must bench 200lbs at the local gym cuz this burrito was bigger than a tree trunk. Definitely worth $ 9 given the prices: portions ratio you come across this close to NYC. I didn’t really expect to come back here and see 5 stars, but I didn’t think the rating would be this low. A lot of the problems seem to be isolated incidents. «Huge» is the only adjective I have used to describe the burrito… I dunno if any of you noticed that… it’s definitely not a reason to run out to this place, so lemme talk about taste. It tasted ok. I would come here once if you’re a burrito aficionado(their menu is STACKED) and try this place and see what you think. Wouldn’t hurt. They have a ton of vegetarian options also if you need that. Nice décor, I found parking easy… then again, Jersey City loves me, and it smells amazing when you first walk in. As of this post, cash only… all you need is a ten and you’ll be full for a while. When I was done, I left behind two grains of rice to make me feel like less of a fat ass.
